Funny story about anime and weeb stereotypes.
There's a store in the mall where I bought my brother-in-law his Christmas gift called Things Remembered. While I was there I was having a hard time deciding what to get and staying in my budget, so this girl helped me. She was a good salesman and a pretty cool person, and we talked a bit about Christmas and family and stuff for a good half hour while they made the gift. I learned her name, thought she was attractive, and I thought, if I start dating again, I should come back and ask her to go get coffee.
My brother-in-law this weekend went to Things Remembered for something else unrelated, and thought I'd like her too by sheer coincidence. So this is how he apparently went about it:
- Asked if she was single while she was on the clock.
- Told her he's got a brother-in-law who's been single for a long time.
- Asked if she liked anime, because he knows I watch Dragonball and work on a Gundam parody so clearly a girl liking anime or not is a dealbreaker?
- Asked for her full name so I could find her on Facebook then wrote it down to give to me.
I am never going into that store again.
