Honestly what makes this whole Catherine controversy dumb is that, well. The game literally says "IF MEN DO NOT HAVE THE SEX WITH WOMEN AND MAKE BABIES THEY BAD" with Erica, the transwoman, also suffering under the curse caused by Satan who's mad about people making less babies. The anti-LGBT messages are so thinly-veiled that the story outright ****ing says it's anti-LGBT right there

In the original, you can actually in-universe justify the plot as being "Let trans people live their lives" by reading into it as Astaroth, Dumuzid and Ishtar being ass-backwards gods who refuse to adapt to the times, but then you read the books and such and "Oh this is actually terrible."

I don't think it'll definitely be a DQ character. But it's still quite possible. I can't think of how it can tie to Crono, though, which was more my question. Does Crono have any actual ties to Courage/Bravery?

Not particularly. You can only tie Brave (that is to say Yuusha) to him by virtue of Akira Toriyama doing both DQ and CT and him being a Hero with a vaguely similar skillset to typical DQ heroes

See, I WOULD do that. But again, the best ending literally has Toby regret losing his virginity to Erica after finding out she's trans while Erica goes "Haha too late no takebacks *****". When you have the character go "I want my virginity back" after finding out about the woman he's dating in the 'true lovers' ending then there's a problem.

Though to be fair, that would be a pretty easy way to codename Erdrick as well due to that alone. What the name Jack can imply is that the codename doesn't have to be super specific, but still relate to a character enough that you can tell it's legitimately tied to them. It's a common localization, but it's still a proper tie to Erdrick.

I mean I get that (trust me I do, I spent a good month in the Square thread before posting here regularly again)...

But literally the majority of the conversations we end up having here revolve around something related to either:
-Sex/Sexuality/Gender
-Politics
-Some Argument happening between users

It's not a bad thing per se... but I'd be lying if I wasn't annoyed a little bit.

Yeah, thought there was nothing then. Well, if Brave really is 72(which is likely), then the leak loses a lot of ground. Although at least it's remotely believable, but that's due to the 5chan leak being entirely dead. Not that the 5chan one had much going for it either.

Website leaks do happen sometimes, as we saw with Bloody Tears. I doubt it did this time, but it's not impossible. It helps that they got all the Japanese names right(which all could easily appear in the website's coding that way) and every character fits Reggie's statement of "unexpected picks". Doesn't mean it's likely to be real, but doesn't have any hard evidence hurting it either. Just one of those "fairly unlikely" leaks at best.

This thing again? Crono is the name in the US version. Chrono is his Japanese name. There's a difference. Smash Ultimate's site sometimes uses the Japanese spelling(but not it Katakana, Hiragana, or Simplified Chinese) instead. So the idea it uses Chrono instead of Crono has a possibility.

Graizen's correct. Citing the US Chrono Trigger website is meaningless(which wasn't even cited, just a GameFAQs topic). It applies to the official US spelling. Of course it's going to list that. Just like Isabelle is listed on the EN-US Smash Ultimate site when you look at the physical site itself. It has nothing to do with the coding alone. On the US sites, Crono will be viewable till a US remake redubs his name as Chrono. The French version also has Chrono, literally listed among that GameFAQs topic. I'm not sure if people even understood the point Graizen was making anymore. That the site's JSON files used Chrono's Japanese spelling. That was it. Which is why the leak in question doesn't have any spellings actually wrong.

Doesn't give it any real credibility, it just killed the only real thing against it. It's still pretty easy to claim regardless, heh. JSON files can be made by people, though the only picture given was just showing how easy it was to display the words in the coding on the website, not showing a literal leak of an updated website. Leak still is hard to swallow on its own due to just being a text leak in practice, but that's the main thing against it at the moment(that at least makes sense). Other things to think of is if Brave is Fighter 72, which means "Brave" would have to be Crono. Considering Jack seems to be significantly related to Joker, I doubt any heroic character could be Brave. I'd argue it should have some remote significance. It doesn't have to even be a lot, just something that actually would tie to the character. Like, anyone could be courageous. But it should tie to them in various materials. Erdrick's Hero class is effectively called Brave in a way, then there's the whole Brave(Courage) stuff like the Agumon line. Those two directly tie into the characters. I remember some group or whatever(I forget the details) that relate to Yuri from Tales of, which is another example of it being possible. I realized that there was no good way to tell how Brave should relate to the character as soon as Jack wasn't obvious what it meant for Joker(playing cards? Jack of all trades? Jack Frost?), but multiple ways. So as long as the character has a legitimate relation to the word brave(or its synonym courage, perhaps), it feels at least worth noting as a possible character. Of course, that's imo.

I get why the political talk annoys you but as for the convos regarding LGBTQ issues, a lot of people in this thread are LGBTQ or at least allies, so when something happens that is incredibly insensitive or offensive to that group of people, it's no wonder we talk about it.
