Maybe its because I’ve had slightly more exposure to SAO than FT so I resonate with the hatred for SAO but why is Fairy Tail in the same ballpark? Is it them pulling the “power of friendship saving the day” card a bit too much related to it?

I think they're both subpar anime that somehow have a big following.

I personally think it's more likely than some brand new Gender option for Joker leaking in the Data when P5R or whatever it appears in likely isn't even out yet, I mean if Rex was too late for Base Game what makes Joker's new Gender not too late for DLC? assuming Joker has been worked on for awhile.

There's no reason for calling any of his Personas "Jane".

And a new gender option would be just a new alt and voice actress. It's not fair to compare these to a full-fledged newcomer.

There is literally no reason for any of Joker's Personas to be called "Jane".

Most likely scenario seems to be a female protagonist.

And it wouldn't be the first time the series introduced a female protagonist after the game's initial release (Persona 3 did it iirc).

we're getting more info in march, right? i can totally see sakurai pulling a "by the way, you can also play as the female Joker from the recently-announced Persona 5 Revolution"

Unless Joker's Persona is going to change drastically in appearance between alts(afaik, this is the only mention of Ponytail, which Arsene doesn't even have)....yeah.

I once saw this really good concept for a female P5 protag. It wasn't just Fem!Joker, it was like a whole new design. Sadly, the only thing I can remember is that she had white hair, and I've never been able to find the picture again.

I liked Marie, I thought she was a pretty neat character.

Her poetry ****ing SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS, though. I rolled my eyes and set my Vita down every time I was forced to listen to it when I entered the Velvet Room.

Atlus would've had to have Concept art of what she would look like, no telling if she changed or not and Atlus would've also had to share it with Sakurai to begin with in-which depending on when Joker negotiations were complete Sakurai would need to get the team to work on it and hope that Atlus didn't change the concept art. There's no telling even if they had Concept art if they met in let's say late 2017-Early 2018 as we have no Idea when the creation process of the Fem Joker was being made, Art takes time.

all these steps would've had to work out just right for this to have happened, and why would they be referred to as Jane? Cause if Brave really is Erdrick they would know at the very least that they should make the Codenames less obvious.

I have no problem with Jane if it is a Fem Joker, I welcome it but I have kind of a hard time thinking that this is super likely.

Sure, we can make the connection that "Jack is a card, and so is Joker", but that's about it other than a connection to JACK-Frost.

I don't think it's super likely, buut:

1. Shigenori Soejima is generally pretty quick with coming up with designs, mostly having a few sketches before settling down. Granted, he noted the difficulty of designing a heroine, but it's not like a Bayo situation, where her design completed in a year.
2. Jack-Jane. It just sounds like the feminine version of Joker's codename.

I'm not hyping myself without concrete evidence, but there doesn't seem anything big against it.

there'll very likely be extra scenarios, though changes to confidants alone make a female joker a big overhaul - 3's female protagonist also received exclusive scenes

it also means yusuke would be dateable

it also means that post-valentines day scene is going to look very different contextually all of a sudden
