So I’m trying to go something of a no-kill mortality in my own stories as well but I also want to explore the ramifications and consequences of going either way.

However I must ask this, what would your stance be on the possibility that there is absolutely no chance for redemption on their end?

I have decided to steer this discussion firmly out of that territory.
I now would like to introduce this:
In mass shooting scenarios, is killing not necessary? If the killer has a gun, would you rather just try to get him to surrender, hoping he doesn't just shoot and kill more people before you take him down, or kill him as soon as possible to minimize lives lost?

Shoot him in the leg. He can’t kill people if he can’t walk. Then lock him up.

Wow you are...grossly simplifying things here this isn't how that works.
There's also a good chance they'll miss if they aim for as narrow a region as the leg, there is a chance the killer has something protecting their legs, there is also just as likely a chance they'll be able to shoot anyone around them while on the ground.

It's not like the legs have something called the femoral artery which if punctured bleeds rapidly and can kill a person pretty quickly.

There is still ALWAYS the chance he will be able to continue to shoot people, especially those close to him, regardless of pain, often due to adrenaline.

You're basically just countering this with "okay well they can just shoot him in the next area" like it's that easy and like it's even necessary.
The optimal way to save as many lives as possible is to take out the killer ASAP. There is no need to lock them up in order for us to feel pleased with the killer being distraught. There IS a need to protect human lives through killing the shooter.

-Samus's bike is blue and pink to fit her Zero Suit colors, while Pit's is white with an angelic design.
-Optionally, Pit is using the Exo Tank.
2: Pit and Samus looking at cherry trees together.
3: Pit and Samus flying kites that are shaped like Metroids
-Optionally, Samus is flying Pit like a kite, using her plasma whip as the string (don't worry, Pit won't be zapped)

Honestly I wanted an excuse to bring this kinda creativity around, while also trying to steer the previous topic that was around for a while away.

Except then you have taken a human life. You are a murderer. You are no better than the shooter.

Plus, there are other ways to take out a shooter. There is a machine that the navy uses to fire infrasound to deter attack at sea. It doesn’t kill its targets, but it sure as hell incapacitates them. Or you could use a non-lethal weapon like... a tart, a net gun, a tranquilizer rifle... just off the top of my head.

If someone is deranged enough to want to take lives in mass numbers I don't feel like they should be taken into consideration when trying to keep the death toll down. End it while it can be done. One guilty man's life isn't worth the 10 or so he can take from aiming to wound. Aim to kill if they have the intention to kill themselves.

Anyways, I don't really want to talk about it. Can we change this subject?
