It doesn't make sense from any angle.

On that note, I'd alter the Paper Mario icon to be a Paper Mushroom with a fold, the Retro DK one to be pixelated and Mario Bros to be a Sidestepper.

It's not part of the Super Mario series, but it's most definitely part of the Super Mario franchise. It's no different than Mario Kart, Paper Mario, or Mario Party.

Isabelle is implied to have a crush on the ACNL playable avatar regardless of gender, and Corrin has a male romanceable option (for Male Corrin in Conquest) and a female option for Female Corrin in Birthright.
