Moderators dont lock this I would like some feedback on this subject.

I've been wonder/second guessing...bout' why u Pro Marths' pretty much never use u-throw. I mean I know it doesn't kill or anything special.
heres what I use it for:
If it's an intense match or an aggressive player, I use it to "take a breather" or "take a quick brake", or in other word to calm myself.

To reposition myself, for example lets say your fighting a metakinght and the MK is trying to get you of stage to gimp.
well....this is were I would get a grab then u-throw; And while your opponent is on their way down you can move to a more comfortable part of the stage.

Spacing
, even though this may sound really DUMB it works. It helps Marth keep the opponent "at bay".

Note: obvisouly the reasons ^^^above^^^ dont work at low percents, because the opponent will be right above Marth. so dont waste your time saying that how I use u-throw is bad.

I'm not trying to say that it u-throw should be use every time Marth gets a grab. But, instead use occasionally and depending on the situation.

Uthrow is my start a juggle move and my, "wtf why the hell aren't you dead at freaking 240% (junk). **** you (junk). You DI too ****ing well (junk)" move

**** you junk.

But ya, it's good. It's used as far as I'm aware. Especially in the snake matchup.

If MK didn't get grab released to fair'd it would be useful in that MU, OH WELL.

It is probably good against, yeah... snake, diddy, another marth, maybe DK.

I dunno..

Umm a lot of people use Uthrow to start juggles 0.o Like most of the top tiers (Snake, MK, Marth himself) are actually bad from their underside compared to Marth's juggle options.

Steel translation: You should've went to the Q&A or Marth Social as this is already known. Ask before you make threads and refer to this.

i only use u-throw as a safe kill move or when they are at high percents or as a spacing move. i rarely use it a low percents though.
it is good as a juggling move. especially on people that have a disadvantage in the air.

btw, there is a 90% chance this thread will be closed because it really should have been asked in the marth Q & A thread or the marth social thread if you wanted more feedback on u-throw.

Alright here's what it comes down to.

If it helps you more and calms you, puts you in a better position when you tend to use it, then it's fine. Just consider what would have happened if you had instead fthrow or grab released. If you think it might have been better for that situation to do something else, just keep that in mind next time you're in that situation.

That's developing your own play-style. I'll admit I suck at smash but it's just one of the basic ways to develop your own sense of style for anything. Basketball, smash, programming, sex, whatever.

K....good.
And i do consider doing f-throw or grab release.
Usually I switch up what I do when I grab. Sometimes i grab release/f-throw/ b-throw and other time I do u-throw.
I think that every one should try using u-throw once in a while for some of the reasons i use it.

Why the hell would u use up throw, when f throw/D throw puts them in a much worse position.

when u up throw someone, u pretty much give them a choice of which way they'll go making it hard to start a juggle or get a hit.
but when u fthrow/downthrow someone ur basically forcing them to jump in a direction thats much easier to predict. also upthrows knockback is so big that even IF the oponnent airdodges immediately u wont be able to punish him ( referring to higher percentages ) because they'll be out of ur range.
imo I think its pretty much useless unless its on killing percentages

Because forward throw forces to you react faster than U throw, while U-throw gives you some breathing space and allows you to understand their air dodge patterns much better.

Also, if you forward throw a marth in a ditto, you cant do any thing besides eating a Fair.
Against a snake he can Nair and it becomes harder to hit him, or he can Bair if you back throw him and he DIs far enough away.
Forward throw a MK and try to attack him and you'll eat a shuttle loop to the face (you're usually gonna be grab releasing him though, so its not as much a problem)

U-throw allows you to attack both marth and snake (just examples, there are many more, i am aware) without fear of retaliation. It is better when the other character does not have a safe way of getting back to the ground besides fast fall air dodging, which can be read very easily. I.E. when they dont have a good down air--> and since marths U-air outranges almost everyones Dairs, its a good option.

F-throw may be easier to predict, but its also harder to punish sometimes
I almost never use U-throw, i agree with you completely Mr-R, im just being the devils advocate =D, F-throw is better against most characters, especially since F-throw to dancing blade is almost impossible to dodge at low~mid %

I think this thread was a good idea, the marth boards are dead, we need some threads.

Guys.

Guys.

Upthrow is boss on the spaceys, Donkey Kong, Snake and Dedede.

i.e.

If walking speed > aerial mobility
awesomeUpThrow++

else if dashSpeed > aerial mobility AND db > THEM
awesomeUpThrow++

if aerialMobility >= theirs
awesomeUpThrow++

if aerialMobility < theirs AND theirRangeSUCKS
awesomeUpThrow++ (really only applies to Wario here, and grab release is better)

if fastFaller
awesomeUpThrow++

if FAT
awesomeUpThrow += 2

Neo approved.
Fthrow is only so good until the point they just DI away and are on the ground safely able to HIT YOU DURING YOUR DASH before you can do anything.

Up throw at about 40~65% of their average death percents works great in limiting options with Marths very nice FAST FALL SPEED (better than 2/3rds of the cast once he fast falls) + great uair which auto cancels.
Using your aerial momentum to follow them down, whilst using your fast fall, whilst staying out of their immediate range, plus db/grab on landing = win.

Snake's only means of escape,
of upthrow **** (rhymes dawg),
is zero landing lag nades `-`.

yeah exactly, people are expecting Fthrow/Dthrow so Uthrow can catch them off guard.

Fthrow and Dthrow also means that they're getting to the ground faster. Uthrow gives you an opportunity you more readily abuse their landing lag.

if you catch them after they used their double jump (basically only when they air dodge into the ground)

you can absolutely destroy them with u-throw

otherwise generally f-throw and d-throw are better

I don't know if this works on humans since my Wi-Fi is absolute fail, but at very low percentages a U-throw into U-smash has worked well for me.

I use U-Throw to read patterns, and play some mindgames.

My throw usage is like 40% F-Throw, 35% D-Throw, 25% U-Throw. I'm not counting grab releases.
