turning pause off in the rulesets is lame because it complicates running tournaments

if I had a nickel for every time lovage turned off pause, and we had to wait 2 minutes for people to kill themselves 4 times on each reset, or spend extra time asking for another memory card because they reset because some n00b turned off pause....

the point is, it's already at the player's discretion, and nobody really cares if a few people do it (although it can cause minor inconveniences)

making it a standard rule is stupid, though, because people LIKE resetting matches early, and resetting resets (?) without having to kill themselves

just beef up the "accidental pause" rules; if they get an accidental pause, that's a stock. if it could be a real problem in doubles (it hasn't been huge so far), then if the players want to enforce the rule, they can make the other team forfeit another stock

**** that noise!

i'll host a tournament with every legal stage + kongo falls on random, and give each player 4 resets

How bout just do it for the wf, lf and gf then cos theyre the only matches that really matter at the end of the day, and that's where you would least want a screw up.

One of these days a big doubles match late in a regional or national tournament is going to be influenced because someone stupidly paused too early. And everyone is going to point at this thread and ask why we didn't implement this rule in the first place.

telling people to wait doesn't fix anything because pausing the game doesn't punish the player taking the stock; it punishes the players already playing

I think this issue hasn't been addressed for so long because it's so controversial. I've had this argument with someone before and it was left unresolved. What SBR needs to do is weigh the pros and cons of turning pause off and then come to a conclusion.

I support turning pause off in teams simply because I don't want a good set to be ruined. However I accept that this is a non-issue until a good set is ruined.

Since a major set has yet to be ruined by something like this it is not necessary to turn it off. Unfortunately I don't think this will happen for a while since the players in good sets rarely mess up the timing.

Pause stays for now.

I whole-heartedly agree to turning pause off.

At a tourney once I was teaming with a puff player, who proceeded to up-throw a fox, who missed the DI. Then an "accidental" pause took place and my teammate missed the rest and then got u-smashed. nuff said.
