I know, but lately almost every thread I post in leads into some anime discussion, and all I have to say is FUCK ANIME.

Also, i realize my avatar comes from an anime, but it's DBZ so it's cool.

I usually don't watch Anime, but when I do, check it.

Moe, and Tsundere characters generally piss me off. I don't find them cute, or interesting. I'm a fan of nerd-girls, manry (wo)men, and Yanderes.

Tommy: Anime is p. good. You've probably just never, or very rarely seen anything worth watching.

Johnny, I'm guessing that's Kanye? He's got that slur that I like and I can hear those words like that. Plus he got in that car accident.

yeah I haven't really seen anything outside of what was ever shown on Toonami. Anime isn't something that interests me at all though.

I did watch Green Green though, but that was the last anime I've watched.

i wish we could take '****' out of our gaming vocabulary, it bothers me and I probably won't protest it to your face but it really trivializes what some people go through, and I have a very close friend who had an experience with that which changed their life for the worse

There's quite a few things about the smash community that seem... weird or wrong I guess. Sadly I kinda learned to just accept them. Whenever people try to rise up against it (like about what Nick said in the above post), they usually get shut down, and people are just like "get over it." It sux, and if I had the power to change things, I would.

Hey, Nick. I'm gonna say the same thing you said to me. It's not about the word "****" but how you use it. The meaning that is connoted is one that is similar to "pwn". It's not like we literally think of a man or woman sexually abusing another person. You said this exact same thing to me when I told you that swear words almost always came from anger or people trying to be cool.

In terms of the tournaments, that's exactly why I don't charge any venue fee. I'd like to. It'd be great making money. It'd be great charging venue fee and not having to pay for entry. But I don't think it's right to charge you guys for something that doesn't cost me anything. So unless we have to move to a place that costs money to set up, I won't be charging anything for my tournaments.

In addition, I feel as though the reason tournaments run slow are for three reasons:
1. I do not run tournaments as fast as I physically can. I admit it. I tend to want to do other things quite often. I will work on only playing my tourney sets (TO stuff only, no friendlies, no Flame Escape, Final Destination) until grand finals have finished.

2. Everyone does not show up on time. Every single tournament we've had to wait to start singles for someone. Usually it's just Chris, which is fine, because he tells me a kajillion days in advance, and I can start pools and just collect his entry fee later. But sometimes doubles might not finish on time because there's one team that has to play 6 sets while everyone else is nearly done (for example Sierra Vista two tournaments ago). If you are at the venue when I call for entry fees, you need to pause your matches and give me those fees. The only exception to this is tournament sets. If it is during a tournament set, you must pay your fee between matches (you need not pause during a match). This will help things move smoother.

3. Bring setups. Some of the earlier tournaments we had 6 or 7 set ups and were able to do a lot more during pools/bracket. Last tournament we had 3 set ups. With 4 pools, I ask that we have 4 set ups to run pools on. More will be said in the tournament thread.

Lol I can't believe you remembered the name.

As far as what you said about not charging venue fees because it's not costing you anything... it really is costing you. You put your time and effort into running these, and without you, we would not have these monthlies. You sacrifice your own time in order to organize everything, setup the bracket, collect all of the money while enforcing rules, and upload tournament matches. It might not be costing you actual money, but you're working hard for this without a "real" reward. You could say that seeing everyone and smashing with all of us is a reward, but ALL of us have that pleasure without having to go through what you go through.

I'm not suggesting you charge any venue fee or anything, I'm just saying that I could definitely understand why you (or any other TO) would consider it.

I'm pretty sure this might be irrelavent but usually when Rob TOs and all and if it's going slow I try to get things to go faster because I actually REALLY legitimately enjoy doing it. It's a fun, great feeling of being in charge of everything and all.

Which is why I had wanted to, no offense Rob but kind of run things at one of them :p. Not because I don't like the way YOU run them Rob, because it'd be the same way if it were anybody else running it, but just because I'd like to run it :)

All in all, at the current time, I'm sacrificing roughly 4 hours of organization time (including getting fees, setting up brackets, recording results, posting results, posting necessary information). If I were to do the most ideal way of recording/rendering (through PowerDirector), then it would probably take me 10 hours to upload the videos. That's really not a whole lot. It is my New Years' Resolution to put in more effort and time to make the tourneys run better though. Even so, I feel as though TOs should not be attempting to make any profit, but rather break even. If they think that it's worth money for them to run the tournaments, they better have other people in agreement with them, in my personal opinion.

I just think you're giving TOs too much credit (at least for local tournaments).

I'll be here, and SV will too. Hopefully we get at least 4 other people.

@Rob:

I'm sure the future tournaments are going to be ran more smoothly if we implement the changes I suggested. Just a computer with the pool/bracket available for people to update at their leisure will help improve promptness, and encourage people to run through their pool/bracket quickly.

As for people playing friendlies, and, or not playing their matches: One reason behind it is people killing time, waiting for the recording set up(s) to become available. People want to play where Tony is commentating, and people like Cooper, Kyle, and I want to play at a set-up where our videos will eventually go on to Youtube, and eventually review them to help us improve.
