Hey, Nick. I'm gonna say the same thing you said to me. It's not about the word "****" but how you use it. The meaning that is connoted is one that is similar to "pwn". It's not like we literally think of a man or woman sexually abusing another person. You said this exact same thing to me when I told you that swear words almost always came from anger or people trying to be cool.
In terms of the tournaments, that's exactly why I don't charge any venue fee. I'd like to. It'd be great making money. It'd be great charging venue fee and not having to pay for entry. But I don't think it's right to charge you guys for something that doesn't cost me anything. So unless we have to move to a place that costs money to set up, I won't be charging anything for my tournaments.
In addition, I feel as though the reason tournaments run slow are for three reasons:
1. I do not run tournaments as fast as I physically can. I admit it. I tend to want to do other things quite often. I will work on only playing my tourney sets (TO stuff only, no friendlies, no Flame Escape, Final Destination) until grand finals have finished.
2. Everyone does not show up on time. Every single tournament we've had to wait to start singles for someone. Usually it's just Chris, which is fine, because he tells me a kajillion days in advance, and I can start pools and just collect his entry fee later. But sometimes doubles might not finish on time because there's one team that has to play 6 sets while everyone else is nearly done (for example Sierra Vista two tournaments ago). If you are at the venue when I call for entry fees, you need to pause your matches and give me those fees. The only exception to this is tournament sets. If it is during a tournament set, you must pay your fee between matches (you need not pause during a match). This will help things move smoother.
3. Bring setups. Some of the earlier tournaments we had 6 or 7 set ups and were able to do a lot more during pools/bracket. Last tournament we had 3 set ups. With 4 pools, I ask that we have 4 set ups to run pools on. More will be said in the tournament thread.
