Whaaaaaat Kanye came out with a new album yesterday!? I didn't even know
yup! its called my beautiful dark twisted fantasy. i'm gonna listen to it for the first time later today im sooo excited :>

i wish we could take '****' out of our gaming vocabulary, it bothers me and I probably won't protest it to your face but it really trivializes what some people go through, and I have a very close friend who had an experience with that which changed their life for the worse
i agree with you. i am sympathetic, but at the same time, **** is such a great word, precisely because its so powerful. i guess i just like powerful words, which explains my love for the word f:awesome:ck, and other offensive words. the power that people give those words make them great.

while I understand that meanings of words are often *******ized with current societal influence, I still feel like that the difference in power between say, ****, and **** for example or some other word you consider a curse word, is significant enough to apply separately. and to be honest whether you say dam or darn or freak of f**k that doesn't really trivialize anything either way. whereas, saying **** casually encourages the casual aura that surrounds it, even if you aren't talking directly about sexual encounters, **** is a word that doesn't have a positive connotation.

even what jonny is saying about how powerful words are great because people give them power I believe is correct, and that happens on the opposite side too like what rob was saying, how a word is just a word then the meaning behind it defines it. however in certain cases words have negative connotations no matter the context like genocide, murder, you know words that usually involve violence of an extreme nature, and I believe that **** is one of those - there isn't a positive way to use it

I agree that there is only so much we can do like what jeff said but still I think we shouldn't use that word i mean i am sure I'm guilty of saying it too but i am going to try not to and i think we all should too

in other news, rob I think that maybe a venue fee would be a good idea once we get tournies running smoothly and on time and while i know that we always wait for the people coming in from out of town to start, maybe the strictness you plan on including will help them get there on time, and ultimately help the tournaments end on time which would then allow for us to do something fun afterward, like dinner or something thats not at crazy hours, especially since usually the out of towners have to drive back that same night. and also slightly bias in my favor then I might be able to come more <3

i agree solely with Nick on this one. I may be guilty of saying *****, but I do believe that the word should not be used. Those of you who know me personally might find it strange that I actually care about something this strongly, but there has been way to many people I know personally that has been sexually abused. I know the trauma they have endured, none of them have fully recovered and never will. There are very few things I care about and this is one of those things.

as per Coop

There will be smash tonight, but it will not count towards the power rankings, since most of us wont be here.

I had the idea that in addition to holding the PR Round Robin Weeklies, we will also be holding monthly tournaments for both Brawl and Melee at our house(me jade and xander) partly because I agree with Spencer that holding and running tournaments is very rewarding and also because it would be a chance for potential newplayers to get to play more in a competitive setting.

First, I would like to remind you of my stance on Brawl. You all know I hate brawl more than anything. If brawl were a person I would punch him in the face.
HOWEVER, a lot of the new players we have now are people who played Brawl and now play Melee because of a lack of a Brawl scene. That's my ulterior motive, my secret agenda. I could give a **** less about Brawl but I want more Melee players so if I can trick some into coming to my house and then get them to start playing Melee, rad.

Second, I miss holding tournaments. I had a lot of fun running M2's Revenge and the old weekly round robins and I want to do it again. And I believe they could be done in a more cohesive and proficient manner. No offense to Rob but there were more than a couple of times when players either needed to check the bracket or find their pool and Rob's computer was put away or he was playing Pokemon.
Let me know what you think.

i think that the robs computer being inaccessible would be solved by having another computer available, or someone who isn't as protective of their computer who doesn't mind leaving it open/unlocks whatever

that being said I dont know but maybe if you wanted to hold it somewhere more central I like that the university is kinda central for all sides of town that may just be my bias since I live close lol

my house is pretty spacious too I don't have tvs though thats a problem but people are always welcome tosmash here just let me know cuz I wanna get better and I need peach practice(read: kyle where you at)

just my two cents - sorry if it doesnt make sense Im a little drunk from this thanksgiving haha

Rob an I had a mutual agreement that we'd leave my laptop unlocked for bracket purposes.

Also as an FYI, my replacement keyboard came in the mail, so no more needing to lug around an entire keyboard/mouse setup.

Alright. Here's what I think. You guys have whined enough. Unless I am convinced otherwise, I will not be entering the tournament. I will only be running it. Even if I am convinced otherwise, I will not be entering doubles.

I can't wait to dis all your (just directed at anyone who's a whiny complainer; not Cooper) tournaments that all of try to run. Payback. And since I'm doing it second, it'll be double power.

This would make sense/be a valid statement if it wasn't EVERY ****ING PERSON INCLUDING PHOENIX hating how late and ****tily run they are.

You act like it's just some small group of 3-4 people saying stuff behind your back but it's not. NO ONE likes it. Then you act like just because you CLAIM things are going to change at the next tournament means that they still can't run **** anyways. Who ****ing cares? Coop is deciding to do this because he already holds the weeklies anyways and it runs fine from everything I hear, I haven't heard complaints about that.

In either case he's also doing it to try and help attract more people including those who play Brawl in hopes of luring them to the Melee scene. Pretty **** good idea if you ask me, and could be successful too.

pokemon props, I mean what would we do without overpowered creations such as ddplotzong lol

you should enter the tournament dude everything is fine I mean I don't think that we should have another run tournaments because frankly you haven't proven unable to run one and for all the crap people give about tournaments they still show lol if it was a problem big enough then they wouldn't go (read: nick never goes cuz hes too cool and has a girlfriend)

anyway as far as I knew you and xander worked it out so that there would be a different method to access the bracket and that way not all the pressure fell on you,

@everyone: but really no need to go all passive aggressive be the bigger person - i know the internet is breeding groundz for teh troolz but still I mean there is a point where **** gets personal lol]

@spencer I think that whoever ran it would do a good job both ty and rob have prior experience doing it but I think that it shold remain at the UA its the most central location

Hey, Spencer. I don't care what your opinion is. You have a voice when you stop whining about quitting all the time.

inb4johns
Since when did I say I quit? It's been foreverrrrrrrrrrrr since I said that LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL. All I do is whine about not being able to play people, get your **** right. :)

And if you're wondering, the only reason I made my previous post sound like a **** is because your response to Coop was completely rude and un-called for. Coop has never done ANYTHING wrong in the god**** slightest to the Tucson Melee community except ****ing help it. If anything he's been the greatest contributor to keeping the scene alive in the last 2 years. So quit being disrespectful to people who don't deserve it just because you're pissed off. Stop acting like an immature baby just because people criticize the way you run ****. If you don't want them to get mad and criticize then RUN IT THE **** RIGHT.

Also, Coop running monthlies is, I'm pretty sure NOT meant to conflict with Rob's neccesarily and if it is then I guess I just completely missed the point of this whole **** thing :laugh::laugh::laugh:

Nope. You're simply wrong. You could not be more wrong. You could try, but you would not succeed. I stated in my post in the second paragraph that I am not directing any feelings of discomfort towards Cooper. In fact, Cooper knows I know he's chill. The only thing that I ever do (in person where people are more direct) is say that he smells after he smokes a cigarette.

Once again, I will say to make it clear. I have no problem with Cooper, nor his intentions.

I'm just going to say it. I may have disputes with people like Jackie or Xander or Joey sometimes. But all in all, they can be tolerable, even enjoyable to hang out with. Jackie's really bomb to hang out with and talk to and especially to get dinners with. Xander is a pretty chill dude when it comes to our Tabletop sessions on Sundays. Joey's even tolerable in person because although he may say, "What's this kid talking about?" he has a lot of joking in his tone.

...

You, on the other hand, Spencer. You are my problem. My only big problem with these boards. I really dislike you. You're a jerk online. You always come back with some snide remark that makes you sound like a pompous rear. I personally think you're a waste of space on these boards. But I don't have the right to stop you from posting. I would if I could.

P.S. I apologize to you for any anger I have sent your way. For the time being, after this post, I will not be trying to push your buttons anymore. However, I ask of you to apologize to me too so we can stop arguing.

Anyways I just didn't like the way your post sounded and because it was in response to Coop that's what I figured it was. Like I said you sounded like you were trying to vent your anger somewhere but you pointed it in the wrong direction and it happened to be this thread. And I don't mean to be mean about how people criticize you and all it's just that it seems like it took you a LONG time to realize that you should do something about it. I know I've never outright said anything about wanting to do your job of running things until recently but maybe part of it is me not wanting to see the whole community distraught about having what is AZ's current best and only way of consistent TOURNAMENTS seem like a hassle just because things aren't done right. And I guess I get slightly irritated when you don't even really ask for help and when people criticize you, you seem to get mad about it even though you're insisting on running it yourself...but then NOT actually running it very well. Do you get what I'm saying? And once again I'm not saying ANY of this paragraph to be mean I just think that if you know you're going to want to do other things and won't always be able to run it as best that you can, ask people to help you. I, as said would be more than willing to help and I'm sure others would be as well. It's small things like this that really add up in general to the Tucson and Arizona smash scene. When even something as small as how the tournament is run, things can get out of hand as we see here lol.

Once again none of that was to be mean, I'm just trying to suggest things.

why are things getting so out of hand? the only problem was the fact that Rob was irresponsible about running brackets, which he and I had worked out the day after the last Monthly.

I uh found out that mixing vodka with baileys and tampico (read: sunny D) looks like baby vomit, but tastes delicious!

Tampico ***** (jk Nick, I'm sorry but I had to!)

As much as I love the word, I shall try to work it out of my vocabulary because I have honestly said it in inappropriate situations and felt slightly awkward. **** you Smash!

Rob vs. Spencer argument: This should be settled with a money match. Or a HARDCORE HYPED UP grudge match, ie Rob vs Xander (which was a great set, you guys)

Jonny still *****rules with the funny picture posts. I love you Jonny

Spencer suck my ****ing **** for never wanting to hang out but still whining that you never get to play. WHAT DO YOU THINK I WANT TO DO WHEN I ASK YOU TO HANG OUT?! WATCH A ****ING MOVIE?!????!!!

There really isn't that much point in playing because it isn't that often anyways. Playing 1-2 times a month in "preparation" for the next tournament isn't going to do **** for me. So if I only get to play that many times a month I just try to not play at all, and I'm trying to not complain about that which I think I haven't lately but idk.

Actually now that I think about it, it's not like I'm going to the tournies anyways. o_o lol.

im too amazing to quit
well spencer if you at least keep your tech skill up then ALL YOU HAVE TO DO is just play to get the feel of the game back. youd probably be better from not playing. tbh because you lose habits and you can rebuild on your move choice which making you better. so its worth it. and quit trying to be like me! i know im cool and all but you dont have to not play to try and be like me. lol :)

why is the tv lounge not steady enough? are you thinking of somewhere like a gaming store in a mall or something where we would have to pay a venue fee? lol

UA is like the best place to ****in have tourneys. What other venue will supply you with hot girls 24 hours a day 7 days a week?

Yup, none other.
