Thank you Based Mimi.
Oh yeah, 8 min time limit please!

Also, does "Bo7 finals" mean Winner's Finals is Bo7, Loser's Finals is Bo7, AND Grand Finals is Bo7? That'd be awesome.

What prizes are for what event / place? Or are you going to decide that when it gets closer to the tournament?
We'll be letting you all know as soon as all of the packages come in. We're only waiting on two more so it should be soon :)

nice just waiting for prize confirmation before i pay $20 :D
Lol, that's completely understandable. We've had numerous emails asking where all of the prizes will be designated and many of them are waiting until they see the final pool before signing up.

As an update: 82/200 seats have been taken and the prize pool has been moved up to $3000 :D

We will announce the distribution this Wednesday! Stay tuned you guys!

You might want to update the OP and title with $3000 in prizes instead of $1500.

Also, will there be recording set ups provided for each tournament set up? Or are we in charge of bringing recording set ups? I'm asking about this because I'm considering bringing my VHS recorder. lol

Our stream and broadcasting team will have a few people filming the event and the final product will be posted on our website. Unfortunately it will be customized to our needs so if you're more than welcome to document the event in the way that you would like to in addition to our own crew :D

Will every set up for melee and other games have a recording set up? Just wondering because ST and I can bring our dazzle to stream project m, a recording set up for melee, and a VHS set up for melee.

Edit: which games are you guys going to stream?

Google docs isn't updated saying that melee is double elimination rather than single elimination. It's the "32 player..." link thing.

The only game that will be streamed is Starcraft II but a general recording of the event will happen with a camera crew. Once again, it's going to be tailored for and mainly focused on the event itself and not individual games. I would encourage you and a friend to bring your own set-up for melee if you'd like to since it would add a great aspect to our event but we can't provide additional bodies for all of these extra set-ups. I would ask that you get in contact with Nicolaas VanMeerten on the stream and broadcasting team vanm0034@umn.edu to ask him about this first. He will probably ask you to come to our dry run this Saturday as well as come to set-up early with him and his team just so that we ensure the quality of work and can put you guys in a space that will work for you.

Will the recordings from the TPG setups be put on youtube?
Our stream will be live on Justin. TV but once again, it's mainly Starcraft but most of our recordings will be going on our website. We can definitely try to put it on youtube later but no promises!

Will the recording set ups be on laggy LCD screens?
The games themselves will be played on CRT TVs, but as of right now there is no recording for melee set-up. Only stream for Starcraft II, and a general video that will be made simply for our own needs (such as providing for sponsors and website promos).

Since I've registered for this, how are you going to know it's me when I arrive at the venue?
You will look like Taiga, right? ;)

You will get an email about this as soon as registration ends on the 24th but everyone must check in by 7pm unless a confirmed email with us has been made. You are all required to check in with an ID to receive your lanyards before our tech team will escort you to the right spots and help you set-up. Thus, you will have a lanyard on with your name and you'll be crossed off when you arrive at the event. This is how we'll know who you are :)

You'll get something like this!

It shows up as saying double elimination on the Google Doc that I see.

I'm busy this saturday and can't make it to the dry run. Do you think I could just link Nicolaas a stream recording that standardtoaster and I have done before and see if that meets his standard?

About the ID, what ID do we need to show that we are who we are? Would a library card or something suffice? I don't have something like a student ID because my student ID won't be sent to me for another month. I also don't have a drivers license, lol. Only form of ID I have is my library card, but it only has my name on it and not my picture. Is that okay for my ID?

Oh and completely unrelated to my other questions, but will the venue have wifi or is it ethernet only? I want to know this so I can use my iPod touch to post on SWF and such at TPG. :p

Oh, and how large are the CRT screen sizes going to be? Or are they all different?

I'd suggest that you just email him. I know that he'd be concerned with general set-up (time, recording, ect...) and where we would put you guys in the space. Just shoot him and email and he'll definitely get back to you within the hour. I've already informed him of your interest :)

As for the ID, your library card will be just fine since you're telling us but for everyone else, please please please bring a photo ID. This will be heavily highlighted in the email that you receive with instructions and info a few days before the event but I'll let you all know right now too!

The CR-TVS are unfortunately all different sizes. This is because a lot of the community is bringing them and in addition we'll be able to provide about 8-10 within the club so they were not a standard purchase like many of our LCDs.

Thanks for the response. Oh, and standardtoaster is also going to be using his library card as well.

I'll send Nicolaas an email today as well. Thanks, TPG. :)

My name is Alexander Michael Ray, and ST's is Adam Taylor Ray. The names will be on the back of our library cards.
It seems like you guys haven't registered yet but we'll definitely note that next to your names when you do! :)

Edit: I'm dumb, I see you guys now.

Does my dad have to pay some spectator's fee? He just needs a place with Internet so that he can work.

Can we bring our own food or drinks?

Do we have to pay anything for parking?

so i signed up for Melee only, but can you add me to MvC3 as well?

signed up as Deepak
Done. You'll actually have to officially sign up at the tournament registration booth at the event. The online registration is for us to get an idea of how many spots we need for each of the events. Many of you have noted that you're interested in multiple events (many of which are going on at the same time) so we know that the actual numbers will be different at the registration booths.

As for food, we'll have concessions open throughout the night with snacks, sandwiches and other drinks. Unfortunately the building closes at 10pm and you will be "locked in" and unable to return into the building if you leave for the sleepover portion of the LAN party but it will be open again at 8am. You're free to roam around before the building closes and there are plenty of shops to get food. We'll include this in the informational packet at the front desk or in the one that is sent to you by email a couple of days before the event. Included in the information packet will be parking info. The East River Road Garage behind Coffman Memorial Union is the best place to park and the rates are reasonable. If you decide to leave the entire event between 1am and 5am, you can park in the East River Road Garage for free. There's also free street parking scattered around campus.

Your dad does not have to enter the event as there are lounge areas that are available on the third floor and he'll still have access to the wireless on campus. Unfortunately he will have to pay for the limited pass if he wants to come into the event at the check-in point. We will have wired internet available all night if he chooses to go that route but it's up to you guys :) I'm sure that people would let him use their umn accounts to get him on the free wireless :)
