a set is 2/3 matches

you play a set then another set and then if you won both sets you win, but if both you and your opponent won a set you have to play a third set

so, its 2/3 sets i think... im not completely sure..

Random pairings first round, losers get knocked into the losers bracket, winners advance in the winners bracket. If someone loses in the winner's bracket, they get sent to the losers, and a loss in losers is a knockout. The grand finals work the same way as the rest, but the person coming from the loser's bracket has to win two sets.

Ok, Wise did a decent job of explaining it, so I'm just going to clarify a few details. Like he said, there are 2 "sides" to the entire bracket. A winner's bracket and a loser's bracket. Everyone starts in the winner's bracket.

If you lose a set (which is best 2/3 matches), then you go to the loser's side of the bracket. If you win in the winner's bracket, then you just advance normally. If you lose a second set, you're knocked out of the tourney.

Finals (as in the final set in the loser's bracket, the final set in the winner's bracket, and the grand finals) should be best 3/5 matches.

The only other thing is that the person that wins the loser's bracket faces the person who wins the winner's bracket in the grand finals and the person from the loser's brack has to win 2 sets (best 3/5) to win the tournament. Hope I explained this well, and don't worry, there's bound to be someone there who knows how it works.

Problem I saw here... You've got two tourneys (that I assume both are supposed to have payout) and one entrance fee. How does that work? =S

So that's $10 if we want to do everything..? Reasonable enough...

At any rate, there's no garuntee I'll be there... but meh, we'll see how things unfold. Ride, anyone?

3 each for teams??? I think thats to little. you gotta remember that the winners are gonna have split the money. 6 for singles and 6 from each teammate in doubles is good.

You shouldn't really worry about the rsvps... I mean, people don't generally like doing that, and a few aren't in a position to be able to ever do so.

Why don't you run a real tournament, using the generally accepted rules of smash tournaments that almost EVERYONE on the boards uses?

Just copy'n paste their rules over or something, no one's checking for plagiarism.

The built-in tournament is terrible ... single elim? one character? No one in the tournament scene's been using that garbage for ages.

Yo Poo boy, I got some questiosn for ya.

- Is the cafe still going to be open general public or will it be closed for smash?

- How much room do you have for setups? After looking at your Myspace pictures, I see only room for 2 setups without comprimising customer space, especially if you set the RSVP cap at 40.

From the looks of the Myspace picture, the cafe looks pretty small, unless there's some hidden back room that no one took a picture of. . . Just wondering of what your exact plans are before I decide whether or not to go.

Brightside, I'm more interested in teaming with you than in $MM you.

It depends a lot on whether or not my gf wants to play as my teammate or not.

If she doesn't, what say we take this tourney?

Also .... $MM, anyone?

(:

MM$ is a money match, i.e. you play for money.

And Big Dan, why don't you calm down there, bud? Jazz is just trying to help YOU out. Instead of changing stuff piece by piece, you could just copy and paste the generally accepted rules from 100 other tournaments just like everyone else does.

It would probably be a field day is Hoefler were here. lololol

Anyway, I know what it's like being new to tourney organization. First time you just do what everyone tells you, ie the norm. After that, you can experiment within reason. Example, DK64 was random at SG3... and it froed Eddie. xD
