admittedly kinda stretched it a bit with 64 as I don't really use Mario or Link much at all, and I'm still unsure on who I like using asides from Samus and Doc in Melee. I have some more honorable mentions for Brawl (:zelda::pikachu2::lucario:) and 4 (:4mewtwo::4lucario::4zelda::4samus:) though.

I switched around a lot in Brawl, so there's still a character or two that I played a lot but didn't fit on the list. But the roster change to Smash 4 still hurt plenty.
In Smash 4, I've focussed so much on training Robin that I'm fairly bad with any other character. I'd have to make that list like 10 entries longer if I really wanted to include all the characters I enjoy toying around with every now and again.
I guess that just speaks for how well designed the cast is this time around.

This is a randomly off topic remark, but I just love how they gave Robin an animation for when their tome/sword respawns. It's also cool that the books will give off a flash of whatever element they are when they respawn.
