I'm sorty to the pega pony princess fans
CHROMGRATULATIONS!!!Guys, guys! Cordelia and I just got MARRIED!!! Woohoo!
I have played the entire game and I actually do find it a bit overrated as well. The story, while entertaining, is nothing special outside of the world setting imo and some of the exposition can be a little long. Like @mimgrim, I also did not find myself invested in any of the characters, main difference being that he actually likes more characters than I do. Also, the combat I also find to look kinda dull. To be clear, I think the combat is fun but as someone who plays a lot of Tales, having flashy looking moves and combos mean a lot to me, probably more than it should. To the person who said Xenoblade was overrated:
The area you're in right now is only about 5% through the game. Please save your judgements for later.
Awesome! Which one do you like better? I've been considering getting one of them. If we're being honest though, I'll probably end up buying both but...lolOn the topic of Xenoblade, I can't remember if I mentioned this already, but I went on a theme shopping spree and got both the Xenoblade ones. I LOVE the Monado one. It might be my favorite overall, only rivaled by the cute Pokémon B/W one. I love the music, the image they chose for it, the neat sound effect, and especially the Monado changing as you scroll. The Mechonis one is cool too. Again, I love the scrolling sound effect, and the title theme is just gorgeous.
I hope we get some super cool If theme next year. I'm guessing we'll get a Nohr one and a Hoshido one.
Thank you for being respectful about your opinion.I have played the entire game and I actually do find it a bit overrated as well. Granted, my critique above is mostly story related and some may say that is not a legitimate critique since it's just a game. To that I have 2 responses: 1) the game focus a good chunk of itself to its narrative so its fair criticize it 2) this game is made by monolith, the company who made Xenosaga, a series known for its expansive and highly symbolic storytelling. Admittedly, Xenosaga has even longer expositions but when I personally compare Xenoblade's narrative to Xenosaga's, its clear which one is superior. In fact, I see a lot of shades of Xenosaga in Xenoblade's narrative but they are not nearly as imaginative or interesting as the former.
Having said of these things, I still think its a good game and I would still recommend it. Just wanted to put my 2 cents in.
I'm using the Monado one right now. I think I have a slight preference to it, but opening your 3DS to hear the title theme also sounds amazing. The Mechonis theme is so serene between the title theme and the sound they chose for the scrolling. I just like the gimmick of the Monado changing symbols in the lower half a little more, plus that cool shot of all the characters.Awesome! Which one do you like better? Hey!EDIT: If you played Xenosaga please raise your hand so I can give you fictitious extra credit in my heart. If you couldn't tell already, I love that series to death.
Thanks!CHROMGRATULATIONS!!!
Cordelia was the first girl my male avatar married. They do make quite a cute couple (and family)!
My hubby will forever be Chrom, though. He's such an adorable dork to not love him.
Wait didn't Itoi say he is not going to continue the mother series?Xenosaga and Xenogears ring a bell, but I've never played them.
I'm always up to try new games. My plate is kind of full right now, though. At least two I have that I really want to go through, two more I'm trying to get right now, another I'm getting once I come across it, and I still need to play EarthBound Zero. And Mother 4 is coming out in summer hopefully... Too many games I need to play!

The problem with Xenogears' storytelling is that it tries to do too much in one game (slideshow for narration in the beginning of 2nd/3rd disk. really?) and it kinda devolved into a convoluted mess despite some great ideas behind it. Xenosaga is much, much better in this regards although many still feel its convoluted. Personally, I don't mind. But if I recall correctly you also care for narratives in games like I do so if that's the case, I highly recommend the series. I honestly wouldn't recommend it to any other type of gamer because while the combat ranges from passable to fun in the trilogy, the story takes front of center and if you thought Metal Gear Solid had a lot of watching, think again. Bring popcorn and a drink.Hey!
Granted, it's been years since I last cleaned that game, and I got more confused at it's storyline than anything else.
not a big fan of mechas, either.
Edit: Ops, wrong game. I thought I read Xenogears. sorry. I only saw half of a LP of Xenosaga.

This is a fanmade Mother 4.
And yes, sadly, the Mother series in its official form is over.
EDIT: 'd twice!
Oh wow it's incredible how much dedication the fanbase have. It's still sad that we can never see Mother in 3d. Not that graphics matter that much but still...Mother 4 is a fan game.

Wow this game looks amazing.
I'll give it a try, then, after I finish Thracia 776 and Baiten Kaitos Origins. The problem with Xenogears' storytelling is that it tries to do too much in one game (slideshow for narration in the beginning of 2nd/3rd disk. really?) and it kinda devolved into a convoluted mess despite some great ideas behind it. Yeah judging from the trailer, they kept the general strangeness of Itois games but with completely new characters and story. Maybe I can wait for Fire Emblem If now without being spoilerd too much, heh.I was neutral to Mother 4 at first- I was definitely going to play it, but it didn't grab me much. The trailer got me hooked, though. It's clear that the team understands what makes the franchise tick, but they also aren't leaning heavily on nostalgia and references to the past games to win us over either. I signed up for the e-mail list and will play it ASAP.
I actually also wanted to played Baiten Kaitos Origins after watching the beginning parts of a walkthrough. But then I stopped after seeing the price tag and after realizing the Wii U can't play GC games so I just contented myself with skimming through the walkthrough. The Baiten Kaitos Origins track that randomly appears on Gaur Plains in Smash is wonderful.Right?
I swear, judging by the trailer, it could easily pass off as official.

I've been interested in it for some time, but needed a push to go after it.
My animosity has been buried under the crushing weight of the ignore function.Feeling some animosity in this thread right now, let's all relax by the soothing sounds of the ice cream truck c:

Ignoring it, suppressing it with ice cream, whatever gets you to the end result of forgetting the animosity we had a bit eariler. My animosity has been buried under the crushing weight of the ignore function.
White hair and magic tomes. It's been a while since I've posted here. I'm curious, what would Robin add exactly to the mains I already have? (Lucina, Meta Knight, and Mewtwo)
The walkthrough for Baiten Kaitos is one of the few walkthroughs I got hooked on because of the story and the characters, especially the awesome banter between them. By the way, Monolith also did the Baiten Kaitos games. The trend should be pretty clear now.not mentioning I'm using Dolphin to emulate Baiten Kaitos and an iso I downloaded
Baiten Kaitos battle system is kinda annoying, though. On the first one I wasn't too bothered by it because it was easy enough. Now, Origins is harder, so, my rotten luck with cards is becoming a really, literal, pain.
But the story and characters are so good, I'll endure it.
I really recommend the series to anyone, despise my hate for the gameplay sometimes.
I think it's too bad the game isn't really known, but I can't really blame some people by being turned off by the gameplay.
Robin is like ice Cream. He/She comes in many different flavors and forms but each of them is still delicious. (Well for me)Ignoring it, suppressing it with ice cream, whatever gets you to the end result of forgetting the animosity we had a bit eariler.
Though ice cream does sound really good right now.
That sent my mind to a dirty place.Robin is like ice Cream. He/She comes in many different flavors and forms but each of them is still delicious. (Well for me)
