Neat. New FE!
Some thoughts,
-The culture in game looks much more asian than european.
-Same engine/ character design as FE:A
-Does not look like a sequel.
-I'm worried about the story. I'm hoping for a game that has as much detail and thought put into it as FE PoR/RD but I'm afraid it wont happen.
-Story by Shin Kibayashi? Not sure what to think of him.
-Feet DID make the budget.
-White haired Lucina
-Swordmaster Sumia
-Return on Ninian. (jk I'm sure they're all unique.)
-Some class that holds a fan?
I'm excited nonetheless. I'm assuming that since they showed us the game, we wont have to wait a year after Japan gets it. :D
Some people think the white haired characters might be another Avatar character like Robin.
Looking back through the trailer, they seem to be important but don't appear in any cinematic. So it could be true.
Also someone else noted there's a scene where some maids are looking down directly at the camera, possibly a POV shot from an avatar's perspective.
I'm sad to see F!Robin MIA in the new Amiibo press, but I can't be too upset when Lucina is launching in the same wave with M!Robin. And the new FE looks pretty swag (dat camera zoom from the map straight into the battle animation~). Here's hoping marriage is out or is at least somehow more inclusive this time. I want variety in my S supports damnit! XP Also I really hope the new avatar speculation is legit. Tactician hype!
They didn't even bother with going for the generic Blue aura/Red aura dichotomy between the two generals at the end that anime typically uses to point out the good guy and the bad one. One's emanating red aura, and the other is exuding purple.
Hopefully this means that no side is truly in the right in this game. That would be really neat.
So hyped right now! It looks like they're still trying to go in new directions with the latest Fire Emblem game, since it sounds like your decisions can actually influence the story this time. It would also be interesting if you could also choose the "Lord" you started with in this game.
On another note, does anyone else think that the female myrmidon looks like Henry and Sumia's daughter?
Well, I just started playing FE:A, but I'll give my thoughts, I suppose.
-Obvious observations:
Looks like it's not a sequel to FE:A (thanks god too, I'd hate it if they started to milk the game like square enix is doing with FFXIII)
It's not a SMTxFE crossover, like someone on the news thread thought xD The only thing close to a SMT element is the golem that appears in trailer, and even so, never saw a demon like that in any of the SMT games I played. (Plus, SMTxFE will be for Wii U, while this game is for the 3ds - not the new one, I hope ): - )
Seems like the theme of the game is WesternxEastern (Which is pretty cool, reminds me of Suikoden 2)
-Speculation:
Soo, I read on Gamespot "Satoru Iwata cryptically stated that the effect of your choices on the game world will be greater than any previous Fire Emblem.". It means the dialogue choices will actually change the storyline now? Can't say about others FE, but in Awakening you change...almost nothing with your choices.
And yes already got spoilered about the ending. ): sigh
and ofc, I dunno about the source of that quote, since no other site seem to point that out.
I think we still get an Avatar, too. (Can't say if it'll be Tactician class too, though, but considering Robin's popularity...) I think that because at 1:19 the video shows a scene at first pov, like the first cutscene on Awakening (the one with Chrom and Lissa). Could be just speculating too much tho.
Also, are the next Lords that blonde(representing West) and red armored guy(representing East)? So does it means neither side will be "evil"? (no blue haired guy? welp.) (ofc, I remember the scene at 0:43 that gets awfully lots of attention, where it seems to appear a eastern blue haired guy, but I dunno what to make of that yet)
If all these points above are true, could we speculate that the Avater can pick a side at the war? (being the tactician and all) xD (wishful thinking, ofc. That'd so cool if you could pick side) If not, I think the player will be the Eastern one? (the only units being controlled I saw in the video seemed to be Eastern)
The Golem could be the last boss, where the armies have to join forces to kill it xD (Ok, that's TOO MUCH speculation). Honestly, the Golem could be some Grima-like boss, but I'm not sure.
Also, not complaining about my eye-candy getting an Amiibo that I can stare at <3 (I'll forget the fact that Nintendo just pulled out of my country's market this month and just hype for now. I can cry later)
I expected him to speak English in Smash4 because Marth finally starred in a game released outside of japan. I'm still a little sad that he's the guy that nobody can understand.
It's coming out in Japan in the summer and the game was shown in an internationally-inclined section of the Direct. I'll be surprised if it's not out for winter, especially since Nintendo now knows there's a market for the series here.
Damn cool, but it looks like my Awakening fanfic will be outdated. Somewhat conflicted.
IT obviously has a lot of Asian influence. The armor stlye and the curved swords are remeniscent of Japanese weapons.
Possible return of the soldier class? We could have a Nephanee 2.0.
Also the fire emblem is a blue medallion, instead of the Shield(if we take the shining blue pendent the blue haired girl to be the fire emblem. Which it is. Because of the FE tendency to make Blue hair = Protagonist).
I'm hoping for a return of the Lehran's medallion. Maybe a prequel or sequel to the Tellius games.
But it could also be set in Chon'sin, during Walhart's conquest. (Young Walhart) Or who knows? We could get a new region.
I'm getting a feeling...if names start coming up in the following months, we might get a situation again. Character added as DLC to promote the new game.
Ahaha, I was waiting for this thread to explode with hype. You never fail to satisfy, fellow tacticians~
I'm hype as all hell for this game, and now that the initial loin-frothingly hyperactive ecstasy has subsided into a tranquil murmuring brook of dreams and wonders, I'll share my thoughts on the trailer.
- Loving the look of the classes. There's a profound sense of cultural flair and unique imagery to these designs, in particular the samurai-esque Myrmidons and the demon-faced Cavaliers. I'm wondering if they'll be emblematic of a new kind of region is this game or, if the theories presented elsewhere in the thread are indeed true, they'll represent different factions of warring nations.
- The golem creature looks amazing. It seems to be inspired by Greco-Roman edifices, in particular the Bocca della Verità in Rome, and I'm presuming it's a new boss creature of sorts. Definitely a strong Dark Souls vibe off of it as well, which is very, very welcome.
- The dancer / princess girl is adorable. I love her design. I'm wondering what her role is. I reckon she'll either be a new Lord or Lord-esque character, a representation of the Avatar, a princess figure or possibly this game's central thematic figure that unites the two factions of does some other cool magical shenanigans throughout the story.
- OH MY GOD THERE'S MAIDS IN THIS GAME EEEEEEEEEE~
- The Lords or the two guys who seem to be Lords are very, very cool. I prefer the blonde dude over the samurai chap, though both are pretty interesting. I'd love it if the "warring factions" theory is true. I'd definitely side with blondie, since I love his style and I have a huge crush on fantasy European culture and stories.
- As was already mentioned: ice magic. Yes. Best thing ever. Best thing ever ever ever ever.
- The floating islands! They're so cool, I want to know more about why they're there and how they factor into the story!
- There seems to be some some sort of foot-mounted spear-wielding class. Maybe this is a new spear specialist class?
- You can make your own decisions and it affects the storyline? YES. BEST THING EVER. BEST THING EVER EVER EVER EVER.
It's very appropriate and I wouldn't mind if they decided to use that name for localization.
Ironically, the usage of IF makes me think a lot of Shin Megami Tensei if
Speaking of which, the whole point that Iwata made about choices in this game = greater impacts, sounds super promising
Not the dancer but the white haired prince who is seen talking to a bandit/ the white haired girl that sorta looks like lucina shown after the trailer when Iwata is talking about the game.
Did i hear someone say this game had a release window in japan? is that true?
I wasn't really that hyped about ice magic, because of the blizzard tomes in fire emblem 12.
But the revamp of the soldier class? Split storyline?
HYPE LEVELS AT MAXIMUM!
I'm getting a feeling...if names start coming up in the following months, we might get a situation again. Character added as DLC to promote the new game.
I'll tell the truth: As I already stated, the possibility to pick a side seems to be very, very nice. If it's not true I'll be kinda disappointed xD I can already see the replay values with this kind of story ;p
Also, there seem to be some people making speculation about children units. It's...ok I suppose, but I don't think they will be able to reuse the "time travel" device...it'll be lame if they do imo
So, for me, it's either time skip or no children at all.
Ice magic huh, Frozen reference? xD
And ye, the title is a pretty strong hint, even without what Iwata said. <3 I love that, always remind me of the Suikoden series.
Really, it would be very nice if they showed that neither sides are "evil". Take Plegia, from Awakening, for example. Sometimes I get the feeling it's the country of EVILZ while Ylisse is the Good side that wants everyone to be happy oO (Ofc, there's Chrom's father, but I feel that this bit of the story isn't even relevant)
