I'm honestly used to the pre-release characters all being starters (aside from the 3rd parties last game), but I got suspicious when it seemed like there were a ton on the starting roster. Oddly enough, most of the characters I thought would be unlockable (Luigi, Shulk, etc.) were not. I did think Robin would be a starter, though.

This is the situation that I'm in, though maybe I can bring a tv and Wii U up to school after the holidays. Still, the 3DS is more convenient for me overall. I've also admittedly been wishing for some sort of portable Smash since the Melee days.

YES AND YES. A Morgan alt for both genders would have definitely made me main male Robin. I really like male Morgan. And after seeing the trailer, I was a little bummed Robin couldn't keep his/her hood up. It just looks so cool. I'd also love more variety in Robin's colors. They all just have hair that matches the coat except the defaults and that one male Robin one with the black hair.

Honestly, I didn't expect as much in terms of modes, but I would have taken an Adventure Mode, target test, events, or even Special Brawl (which I did expect) over Smash Run. Good thing I love Smash's normal old mode and Classic looks fun, but I don't see me doing Smash Run that often.

I'd honestly rather have a Melee-style Adventure Mode with the side-scrolling themed stages. However, I'd love to see more of them to match different series. The Smash Run enemies could have gone there, like the Mario and Zelda enemies in Melee. And the final boss could maybe vary on which series your fighter is from.

Excellus or whatever his name is, easily. Just not interesting and not pleasant to look at. He took away time that I would have rather seen dedicated to fleshing out other villains. If only recruitable units count... I'm not sure. I guess Say'ri? I don't hate her, she just stands out to me the least. Walhart was my least favorite, but he grew on me after I recruited him because he's a total tank in battle because I found some of his Barrack dialogue entertaining. Meh as a villain but amusing as an ally.

If we're talking mission-wise, GEROME. I hate "defend the villager" missions, and that was the hardest for me. I finally got it down once I grinded up Cherche and Cordelia, but even then I was worried. Thank goodness for Rescue working on allies. Gangrel's was annoying too, even if I like the character, just because Chrom kept taking him out. Severa's wasn't too hard for me somehow.

Ditto. I love their supports. Ricken is one of my favorites, actually. I can see why others dislike him, though. I find him adorable. I'm just a sucker for Mage/Witch types, though.

I am working on Morgan's supports with Owain and I think he actually references Falcon Punch... Or it's a weird coincidence. ("Flamingo Punch!")

This will be a rare instance where I actually have a vocal track on a stage as my most-used.:4duckhunt:

I liked Tharja when I first recruited her, but then I kind of forgot about her... I don't hate her, but she's not one of my top favorites either. In terms of Dark Mages, I MUCH prefer Henry.
You deserve a quoting medal.

I want to see Robin fight Mechon and see his reaction to them. And I also want Shulk to fight Risen.

Hell, I just want Shulk and Robin to be best buds irl. Feels like something that could work.

I'm on my fourth playthrough.
First playthrough, I just played through blindly. I married Lucina.
Second playthrough, I looked up everything and unlocked every character. I, again, married Lucina.
Third playthrough, I optimized everyone, not counting getting the optimal parents for kids. I married Anna, for some reason.
I'm in the middle of my fourth playthrough. I'm keeping everyone inside of their original class groups. I married Tharja.

I'll be back with a post about why Robin x Lucina is my favorite Robin ship in a minute, after I finish my math homework.

So... What about favorite Awakening characters?
Maribelle

I like “Lady” characters. Ladies have been fascinating to me, being gentle yet strong beings of morality and virtue. It’s mainly the gentle yet strong part I like. I like seeing ladies take charge and setting the example for others to follow. I always like the way they dress and the way they take care of themselves. Lady characters usually possess cunning and wit as well, and it’s always great to see them defeat opponents with their minds. Bonus points if said lady knows how to hold her own in combat.

Maribelle shows this. She’s a bit more on the firm side than gentle, but that’s okay with me. And there’s also this amazing piece of of dialogue:

-Maribelle: Better a hard head than a brain made of mush! I’d sooner choose my words carefully than speak rashly and regret it.
-Brady: Sounds like somebody screwed up in the past, yeah? Who’d ya piss off?
-Maribelle: Really, must your EVERY phrase be vulgar? It should be “WHOM did you piss off,” Brady. …Go on, repeat it for yourself.

No! We must be negative!

These two.

Owain- He's so delusional, but that's why I love him. I love his boundless imagination and that he wants to be an author- just like me as a kid. While he's a bit too energetic at times, lots of his traits remind me of myself as a kid. He's a perfect son and a great older brother for Morgan.

Lucina- I do like the kick-butt female characters, but they need to have something substantial. Lucina has her dedication and history. Something about a tragic character is so alluring and she always strives towards the future with a bright outlook but full of regrets. She's extremely sweet and deserves better than what the world has given her.

Honorable mentions go to Henry, Inigo, Morgan (F), and Robin.

Morgan
Gerome
Nah

GREGOR
Ricken
Lissa
Anna

I set some rules for that list: 3 children, 2 first gen males and 2 first gen females. But there you go.

Edit: Sorry about that, Henry, Gregor is far more awesome than you.

Maribelle was a shock to me. I usually don't like the "Lady" characters since they can be snooty, but Maribelle always does so with the best intentions. She's actually incredibly humble for being so prim and proper. I like her a lot.

Well, Shulk and Reyn are best bros just like Robin and Chrom, so I'm sure that both of them could have a smart bro relationship (I guess?). They're both a bit dorky.

Alas, I am a pessimist. But I am a pessimist that is yearning to be wrong. :4dedede:
Why, though? I mean, look at Mario Kart 8 and Hyrule Warriors. I never though they'd be pumping out post-release content for either.
But in Hyrule Warriors, they actually threw in cut characters as free DLC.
From a company that historically has not been so generous with DLC.

I consider it a guarantee in some form.

I think Lucina is the best thing since Ike.

Runner ups:
2) Brady
3) Robin
4) Gaius
5) Cynthia

I connect the most with Kjelle, though. Just not the whole "LOOK I AM A WOMAN FIGHTER MEN SUCK" thing. Aside from her, Maribelle or Cherche are probably the characters I would get along best with.

Oh and Gregor is the almighty exception that gets to circumvent that rule because he's awesome.

Robin's English VA in Smash 4 (both genders;; don't know if it's the same in FE;A since I play the game with Japanese voices) is really, really bad. I wish we got Robin's Japanese voices...

I'm not saying that it won't happen ever, but I'm a little skeptical of getting something like some huge DLC pack containing all the hype-inducing characters that the fanbase has been asking for years. This is Sakurai's brainchild, and he has said before that he likes to put as much content as he can in the final product of his games. It's different from, say, Hyrule Warriors, which was developed by a studio (Team Ninja) that has tinkered with DLC in the past, and has made plenty of expansions and new editions for already released games.

If it happens, then I'll be hyped. At the very least, we'll probably get new stages on both versions.

So, am I the only one whose favorite Awakening character is Robin?
Nope.

I just LOVE the child characters except Yarne. First Generation is cool but except for Donnel they didn't leave quite the impression the child characters did.

I like Robin x Lucina the best for multiple reasons.
It's really touching. I can't really explain it, but it's really touching and emotional. I also really like the conversation in chapter 21 if you're married to Lucina (although I do like the "Godspeed, Avatar." if you aren't married to her). It makes it ten times more sad and emotional. Lucina is forced to try kill her husband in order to stop the world from falling into an apocalypse. Also, I have this thing where all of the optional children have to marry another optional child, which means if Lucina doesn't marry Avatar, she stays single and I have to see her heartbreaking credits ending. I just love the thought of Lucina coming back from the future and marrying Avatar.

In all seriousness...

I love
-Lucina - "I'm in Smash Brothers *******."
-Cherche - "Moving on."
-Virion - "One for the bards!"
-Lon'qu - "Who dies next?"
-Gaius - "Sweet".
-Lissa - Clear a path, everyone!"
-Frederick - [Everything he says]
-Chrom - "I suppose I'll get my chance...another day."

: "You seem...different, Roy. I don't remember you looking this handsome before!"
I just imagined :4roy: taking over :roypm:'s life and identity, his friends, wife, and adventures.
All because of THAT wrong adressed Smash Bros. letter.
:4roy:: "Gues what suckas!!!"
:4bowserjr::4larry:: "WHAT??!! NO WAY!!" (Can't post the comic at the moment).

Now i'm depressed. :4roy:
