Gaius and Henry are awesome, and have some fun supports. I actually almost killed poor Gaius recruiting him, though. I was dumb and didn't realize he was a recruitable character.
When I first did Chapter 6, I thought, "Hmm... that guy looks important." However, Gaius attacked Frederick and he died. I mentioned this to a friend and he said that I could recruit him. ...Oops. Thankfully, I just saved right before starting the Chapter, so I was able to recruit him.
Speaking of BITF.. how'd you like the ending?
It's sad to see it end... but alas, it was a good ending. A great way to end the comic.
It also had Shulk in it!!!
So... What about favorite Awakening characters?
I'll mention
5 of my favorite Awakening characters. There are a lot of great ones, but I'll mention the ones that stood out to me the most.
1. Robin: Amazing character. He goes deeper beyond the whole avatar thing. The only thing that makes him an avatar is the fact that he is customizable. Other than that, he is a mysterious and complex character, one that you grow with over time. He's also a bit relatable, especially when you take into account his self-confidence issues that one has mentioned. I also enjoy a great deal of his supports. He can be kind and caring for others or he can be very mischievous and even sarcastic. I also felt bad for Robin for his more personal struggles. He is an amnesiac who doesn't know who he is, where he comes from, what the truth is, or what he is fighting for; the Id songs in particular signify this. He feels
serenity when Chrom wakes him up and when he gets married, he feels conflicted in a
dilemma after learning the truth from Validar and seeing a second version of himself, he feels
sorrow when he has to make a decision that could jeopardize the army or Chrom, and he finally realizes what his
purpose is when he confronts an ultimate evil at the end of the game. Along the way, Robin doesn't know who he is and he is just learning to develop himself as a character as the game progresses. As a unit, he is just simply awesome and the sky is the limit with him (except he is limited in some classes, so he can't be a Pegasus Knight and get Galeforce). Honestly, he and some other character I'll get into later are my favorite characters in Awakening. It took a while for me to like him, but now I really enjoy him as a character.
2. Lon'qu: I give him the nickname of the "Crit Guy" because he often got Critical Hits during my adventures. He is an absolutely cool character with some of the best critical hit quotes in the game ("No hard feelings", "I'll make this quick", "How well will you die?", "Be silent"). Not only is he a fantastic unit, but he also has an amazing backstory. When I shipped him with Cordelia, I wondered why he acted strangely around her. Then... I found out about his gynophobia and how he got it. It's absolutely tragic what happened and it still haunts him to this day. I love his supports with Cherche as it gives him a sense of resolve and closure. I also love his supports with Tharja as even when given the option to remove his gynophobia, he knows that he will lose anything that he has learned from it and his experiences.
3. Owain: Owain, Owain, Owain. He is such a goofball and a great writer. It's incredibly hilarious to see how passionate he can get with his writings, such as how he kills Cynthia in one of his stories just so that he can gain strength from it. He also has some of the most hilarious dialogue in the game, such as his supports with Inigo, female Morgan, and Brady for example. Even when he acts goofy, he aims to become a hero, like his mother Lissa and whoever his father is. He's a well-written comedic character.
4. Female Morgan: I gotta say, I loved Morgan the moment I recruited her. Is it because she is powerful? Or is it because the writers did so well to capture the essence of Morgan being your child? She is just so sadistic with her actions, yet she is so innocent, that I can't help but enjoy it. I also admire the fact that she wants to be like Robin and she views him as her idol of sorts. It's just sad to see her memory never return and we never learn what future she came from. Still, this sort of mystery intrigues me. Also, some of her supports are hilarious, like her ones with Owain, Yarne, and Inigo.
[collapse=I'm probably dead to most of you!]5. Tharja: Yeah, I saved her for last and she is tied with Robin as my favorite character in Awakening. When I was planning on getting Awakening, I wanted to have Robin marry her since the very beginning. The results did not disappoint as she is a fantastic and a powerful unit; the pair of Robin and Tharja was pretty damn unstoppable for me. I am on the minor boat when I say that I like her as a character. Yeah, she stalks Robin, but that sort of quality leads to her being loyal to Robin as she would do anything to help or save him. As for her backstory that I've read online, I can't help but feel sympathetic since she has been lonely most of her life; she doesn't even have a single friend and her family is apparently dead. That leads to some character development as it possibly has manifested her more dark, sarcastic side. Yet, there is a "light" that I sense within her, being able to help other members in the army overcome their problems (like Lon'qu's gynophobia or having Gregor talk to his dead brother). I will agree on one thing: She is a terrible mother... I guess she learns to become a better one and starts to love Noire at the end of her supports? It's just a shame that most people just like her for her risqué clothing.
D-don't kill me, please.[/collapse]
Wow... this was a lengthy post!
