You are absolutely right!
They were funny, well written, and were the soul (breakfast cereal was the heart) of our Saturday mornings as kids. They were also the building blocks for most of the modern animations you see today.

Actually, now that I think about it, I was watching Gurren Lagann yesterday and I thought I came across a Porky Pig reference in the forth episode.

Partly because they were actually created for everyone, not just children, which is why the writing is so good. Steven Universe, Adventure Time and Gravity Falls are the start of a return to the views of those times about cartoons.

I completely agree. However I believe that the newer shows are doing it even better than the classics! Don't get me wrong, the classics are, well "classics" for VERY good and justified reasons, but those shows were still testing the boundaries of what animated shows could get away with and what they could be. In essence, they paved the way for these incredible shows we have now by pushing those boundaries!

Also Animaniacs.

I didn't have any other point there, I just wanted to say how much I LOVE this show!

I tried watching Adventure Time... But I had issues with the aesthetic inconsistencies. Finn and Jake are neat characters, but I loose my mind when their heads/eyes grow and shrink.

What if they made a Kid Icarus and another Fire Emblem anime? Would you want to see more action or comedy from it? Ever since I saw Plautena's reveal I've been wanting a Smash anime.

Kid Icarus needs more attention(bias), but if they did make an anime out of it, they should combine the animation form Palutena's trailer and Palutena Revolting Revolution(the shorts with her vs food) with the character expressions from Uprising/Smash 4. I thinkthey could blend in perfectly together. Fir Emblem on the oher hand, do whatever they want with that.

Reminds me a lot of Adventure time.

Gravity Falls is a cartoon show that airs on Disney Channel/XD. The show follows twin siblings Dipper and Mabel Pines as they spend their summer vacation in the town of Gravity Falls, Oregon, with their Great Uncle Stan. While there, Dipper discovers a mysterious journal in the woods detailing the many supernatural secrets of the town, before abruptly ending with a final warning from the unknown Author. From there, the show centers around the twin's various encounters with the paranormal as they try to uncover the secrets of the town.

Despite being a Disney show, it's extremely good and easily one of the best cartoons to have ever aired. It's got great humor, a compelling mystery, genuine emotions, and a cast of amazing characters. I'd highly recommend checking it out.

An innovative work of art that unlike some other cartoons is worth watching.

Hm, that is an interesting story. Will definitely think about it. Though now I need to find a way to watch the show.

I was simply acting like what the average Smash fan would react to the sight of a clone. Pikachu Libre may not actually play like a clone, but if we were to apply clone-hater logic here,
Dr. Mario is literally Mario in a doctor's outfit, Pikachu Libre is literally Pikachu in a luchador outfit and is therefore a clone.

1. No 2 pokemon are the sane, meaning P. Libre doesn't = Pika, unlike Mario to Dr. Mario
2. Pikachu Libre is a girly girl if you look at her tail. While Pika is a boy

From what I've seen of the humor in Adventure Time... It's not like that. AT tends to throw a lot of weird, random stuff at you without much explanation for a laugh. Gravity Falls' humor is a bit more... thought out, you could say? It's a very clever show that pulls off a wide variety of humor.

I think some of the jokes posted here have convinced me it's likely the type of humor I enjoy more, I'll give it a shot in due time, my youngest sisters also seem to love it, so that's likely a good sign.

Speaking of awesome animated shows, I've been REALLY in the mood to go back and watch Duck Dodgers!

That would be pretty cool. They had a FE OVA back in the 90s but apparently it wasn't that good. I haven't seen it though.
If Madhouse did make a FE anime, I'm sure it wouldn't be too bad considering Madhouse is a pretty good studio.
