i have to question your logic here, sense you guys say that axe is the only reason that pika is good then do you make the same arguments for why puff and peach are doing well?
I'm a little confused by your wording, but it sounds like you're asking why we're singling out pika even though puff and peach have just as little top level rep. However, this simply isn't true. Puff is represented not only by hbox but also by 4%, s0ft, and prince abu. Peach is represented by Armada, MacD, mew2king (occasionally), DoH, lloD, and Mafia. Apologies if I didn't answer your question, its just that the wording is a little weird to me

what i meant was there are really only one super good puff and peach, so are they being carried by the players(like how you guys said was the case of axe and pika) or are they good characters in general?

The way I see it these players are showing us what the character is capable of. They have also been prominent in the competitive scene long enough that lack of matchup knowledge, or even knowledge of their specific styles isn't really an issue. Despite people knowing all of this their characters continue to dominate. Mango may not be playing at peak performance lately, but pikachu beating mango's spacies more than once is very beast nonetheless. We have to remember that no one is perfect. Not even Armada's peach is perfect. More can be seen from literally every character. I don't think the characters really carry the players, nor do I think the players really carry the character. Evidence from one player is indeed limited, but we have a ton of it.

the real issue with Pika, is that Axe is a top10 level player

there aren't many players of that caliber in the world, let alone that play Pikachu

and the char demands a certain style as well, that not all players are going to be good at

PikaChad is another notable Pikachu main, who has a more defensive style

but thats it (simply going by MIOM top 100 for convenience's sake)

Empty's Melee Tier List as of April 2017

S Tier - Top Tier (Can be solo-mained to win any tournament on earth)

Fox - Obvious. Does not need justification.
Marth - Has been performing better than Falco in the current meta, with less limitations.
Falco - Still an excellent character, but struggling to perform currently.
Puff - Unreal matchup spread, high-risk, high-reward. Not as well represented, but there's more coming up.
Sheik - Can still do it, there's just a lack of reps at peak level. Plup's getting there, but reaction tech chasing is the future.

A Tier - High Tier (Can win any tournament in the right hands, but less easily or with counter picks)

Peach - Armada has optimized this character to an unreal degree. Why he isn't being outright copied is beyond me.
Falcon - On the hard come up. Has the tools, but is limited by his weaknesses. People are working around it.
ICs - Wobblefishing is becoming less viable, but Dizz isn't on the upswing because he's bad at melee.
Samus - Plenty of representation. Watch this space, I wouldn't be surprised to see her beat out the ICs.
Pikachu - The "bad Fox" narrative needs to go, it's scaring potential new players away. Axe isn't the end-all-be-all.

B Tier - Mid Tier (Can win any regional tournament or smaller major, or place top 8 at any super major, but has limitations)

Luigi - Imagine Plup's skill at movement, spacing, and fundamentals. Now, add in Luigikid or Abate's character knowledge/punish.
Yoshi - aMSa isn't going anywhere, in fact, he's stronger than ever in Japan. New Yoshis keep cropping up.
Dr. Mario - Even though he's dead in this meta, he's an underrated character that is another Shroomed away from being back.

C Tier - Low-Mid Tier (Potential is there to perhaps place reasonably at a major or get Top 100 wins, but still undeveloped.)

Ganondorf - I puzzle with placing Ganon here, but he's still somewhat of an untapped character. Almost B tier.
Mario - Limited by his inability to kill and inferiority to Doc. If Scorp was a separate person from Mang0, he'd be B tier.
Young Link - Marginally better than Link and with solid matchups against other lakers, but lacking in results.
Link - A few good wins in 2016 justifies him above DK. Squarely Low-mid tier.
DK - Has a good punish game, has a number of unique traits, and has bad neutral.

D Tier - Low Tier (Can attain decent results on a local to regional scale, but will not make Top 100 at this time.)

Mewtwo - Zoma and Leffen gave Mewtwo a decent 2016, and I take results fairly strongly into account.
Mr. Game and Watch - Depressing, how close he is to a good character. Still, players like Qerb and Kuya do alright.
Ness - My boy is by no means good, but isn't bottom 4. He desperately needs optimization, YYG and Movement are nutty.
Roy - Poor Roy is another character with a few positives but some disgusting negatives. Good in concept, no results.
Zelda - 2 godly kill moves, a decent recovery, and basically nothing else. A good ICs matchup keeps her out of E Tier.

E Tier - Bottom Tier (Borderline unplayably bad, but in some rare cases can perform.)

Kirby - Triple R makes me think this way, he has better results than the other 2 assholes in this tier. Okay tilts and edgeguarding.
Pichu - Designed to be the worst in the game, but missed the mark. Not by much though. His speed could someday bring him up.
Bowser - **** this character, incredible how bad this fat shart is. Sakurai pls
