You are however wasting your time replying to all his comments even if it is indeed to prove a point, and someone truly secure in the awesomeness of his/her life would feel no need to prove it to someone else with such a ****ty, destructive attitude.
Not trying to prove anything to anyone, just trying to set the record straight.

Besides, I enjoy it. If he actually enjoys what he does, more power to him.

Only thing I don't like about this community is a lot of people don't understand that online skill is not someone's true ssb skill.

The people who say dumb stuff I don't mind too much (unless it's on my youtube; I'll block them there). Kids will be kids. It's better for them to be flaming/trolling me in galaxy 64 or on smashboards than to be out selling drugs or being involved with gangs haha.

I certainly think having good online communities is possible. The problem seems to be that some people just don't take it seriously. Or worse, they ruin it on purpose.
I think the real problem here (and in here I mean the internet in general) is anonymity. With it people just don't see the damage their cause as real, or that whatever they do will have no retaliation. They see internet as a magic land were bad and uncivil attitudes are encouraged simply because they are possible. And sadly I don't see much ways to stop it either.
Had I completed my project on time... but well you can at least get fast porn!

You can read a much better article on the topic here:
http://www.cracked.com/article_16765_5-ways-to-stop-trolls-from-killing-internet.html

(specially number one)

I actually think ending anonymity would be very good. I would think twice about making stupid posts, which is the only thing I use the internet for, but it would bring a lot of good.

It's better for them to be flaming/trolling me in galaxy 64 or on smashboards than to be out selling drugs or being involved with gangs haha.

i like this community.

anyone i play online who i actually respect as a player is usually really helpful and gives me advice. for anyone else i just don't bother responding. Ragequitting can be annoying but it's not like I've ever had someone ragequit on me and thought, "**** i really wish they didn't quit, he was fun to play"

i treat the forums the same way. i try and only pay attention to the people who I know can help improve my game.

There is nothing wrong with this community. The 64 community is like any other online or offline community. For the most part, people get along with each other just fine. Most people are nice to everyone else. But in every community, you always have some people who do stuff that annoys everyone. Similarly, there are always cases where two people (or more) hate each other, causing friction in the community (not going to say any names for either case). usually 90% of the community is very nice, but it's the 10% that aren't that people remember the most.

oh **** how do they deal with losing money online because of cheating and stuff ?

I just cant see myself not losing my cool , track that person down , call cops , etc... even though its something Ive never done but eh.. just like the article Wal-Marth posted says , I cant really care about anything I do or anything that might happen to me on the interwebs as long Im not bothered by it IRL

back to subject smash(64) community is fine like blue yoshi said , every community online has his share of nice people and his share of *****

cant deal with it until there are laws LOL

When cheating is discovered, the victims are compensated.

Even when cheating occurs, I don't think the sites release the information of the cheaters. Probably 99% of cheaters either don't know they're cheating, or are still not good enough to win. Nobody has written a book or made instructional videos on how to collude (by far the most common form of cheating) optimally.

Depends on the moderators. :p

I remember the old days before UIGEA, when you could go on party poker and people would be going all in preflop with rags, and there were rainbows and gumdrops and money grew on trees.

What happened to the Smash 64 community? :(

There's still some friendly people that help a lot here with whatevers going on or whoever has questions - to naame a few; Nixxon, Blue Yoshi, Dmoogle, and Daedatheus, but besides the small amount of them, everyone else just seems to be immature trash talkers or just plain ignorant people... :(

A good example? I just started a thread asking a genuine question and 75% of the thread is full of people posting stupid questions in regard to my avatar and the others just posting very short useless posts that are just spam andd dont contribute to the thread.

I always come in here and see some posts full of curse words against people simply because they're immature idiots or just disagree with the victim's post.

SSBPete is a friendly guy. Usually on here posting his decentcombos and asking for help on some stuff. Have a look at the comments on this video of his: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PwFEwqS0SIw

It's full of people saying; "you copied my friends combo", "that's my combo", "lol ur combos are crap" with a variety of cursed words lol :p. There's a few people on there sticking up for him, namely me and 1-2 others, but it didn't change the douchebag's opinions and they just carried on.

There was even a "stupid people on kalliera" threaad not long ago. I guess that's the people my entire post is referring to on here. It's giving this community a bad name you know :(

EDIT: I expect to get flamed with immature, bad (in terms of grammar and them being nasty) posts. It doesn't matter. It'll just prove my point and you'll know if my post is referring to you or not. I hope some people take this seriously and give their honest opinions. :)
aww poor baby....i trash talk on here. usually for the fun of it, but honestly if someone gets offended about trash talking their video game skills (what else can you trash talk about on here?) then you're just a little wuss that has no actual life. Me? I can trash talk cause I have one.

This community unfortunatly has people like novakane, smasherx74, and /b/tards like MattNF(just look at most his posts, it's direct /b/ images from it)

Regardless, this is the internet, and there's 100% chances of having idiots bashing people/community, somewhere. Regardless of the topic, of the web site, of whatever.
INTERNET. Never ask something nice.

inb4 Holy just bashed mattnf/smasherx74/novakane
