No Johns, get a house phone.

I'll probably be there in regards to tourny.

Uh, Spam, Inui, and other better players than me in this thread.

I've been analyzing my singles play and have been trying to figure out some of the things I do wrong that separates me from much better players. I've worked on my DI a lot and I need to work on bad dodging habits. Also, killing with Pit becomes problematic at times. Anybody have any suggestions?

spam, I don't like your insinuation that if someone loses to me, they must be washed up <_<

idk if you're still riding high off months ago when we played at that NJ tourney where you devoured me but I've gotten a lot better since then! you were my first mk besides xzax and I got a bunch of practice against jason between then and when I played forte :( :(

My dad actually doesn't have a house phone. Plus, I can't commit EVERYONE'S number to memory.

I actually only remember the numbers of people I've met outside of Smash, with the exclusion of Rhyme and my girlfriend.

But Don, you know I love you. <3

 You misunderstood me. I agree, you got a LOT better since that NJ tourney. I already said that to you in person :bee:. It's not losing to you in particular that makes him washed up, it's losing at all. He used to get 1st or consistently place top 3(IIRC) when the game originally came out. I don't memorize results and I didn't want to bother to go searching for MD/VA tournament results where he also didn't get 1st(basically all of them now)

@Kashif: I think I played almost 100% that day. You are not more than double my skill. You'd have to be in order to put up a fight and take a game while only playing at 40%. You're better than me, but come on, you're not Jason.

Hi there! :)

I dropped Pit for three reasons back in April.

His playstyle encourages and demands massive camping that isn't fun. He has bad range in just about everything, so punishing spaced stuff and ridiculous crap like Snake's f-tilt is hard to impossible. I live in NJ, and this state is riddled with Meta Knights, Snakes, Falcos, Marths, Olimars......just all around bad for a Pit player.

His KO power wasn't one of those reasons and I never really had trouble killing anything but Snake. Being brave and using his jumps and recovery to edgeguard works pretty well. His b-air is crazy powerful. I had trouble killing in the early days on the imports...but then I stopped spamming f-smash so much and used grabs and jab for punishing instead. I would use f-smash a bit early in a stock because of the damage it does, but then switch to other stuff to refresh it. It actually kills early if it's not diminished. Sadly, those are his only two real kill moves outside of edgeguards or really high percent kills. Thankfully, building damage is easy with his arrows, annoying jab game, u-air and n-air stuff, and high-damage throws.

Against bad people you can just spam single jab on their shield and they'll roll. Just guess that it's going to happen and punish it with an arrow. At higher percents that will send them a slight distance into the air and usually they'll airdodge on the way down so you can punish that. Arrows seem to combo better at higher %s into fair. Other than that, the easiest way to get a kill in general is to just force someone into a situation where they're going to airdodge/sidestep/roll/getup attack and then punish that.

Here, let me break it down logic that anyone can understand.

Fact: I was grabbed a lot.
Fact: Meta does not get grabbed by Snake unless he spaces poorly or makes bad decisions.
Conclusion: I was obviously spacing poorly and making bad decisions.

Fact: I whiffed many dashgrabs.
Fact: Whiffing dashgrabs is a VERY bad thing to do and no one good does that unless they are playing poorly
Conclusion: I was playing poorly.

Fact: A large portion of my anti-Snake game at the time was punishing boostsmashes.
Fact: I punished next to zero boostsmashes even when I expected them and on numerous occasions dropping my shield as you reached me.
Conclusion: I was playing extremely badly.

Thanks for your insights guys. I'll definitely take what you said into consideration and try and fix my singles gameplay.

Pit's range isn't that bad either, it's just mediocre when compared to MK and Snake. It's barely less than Marth's.

Pit is broken...lmao...
You'd have to be comparing Pit to something, and he's not broken compared to MK or Snake.(I wish)

UMBRA, try to get a way to inui's this Sat. i really want to go and practice teams...
I'd love to. I'd love even more if I could sleep there overnight or something. I really want the practice in. I constantly feel like I should place better. I'll need to become that much more of a better player to beat MK and Snake, because that's who i really only lose to in tourny anymore. Unfortunately, there are plenty of MKs and plenty of Snakes. I gotta figure out transportation though.

We're the best Snakes in the area, yeah. I think I'm the best Snake north of VA with only Candy as real competition, imo. /arrogance

I'll give you lots of MK and Snake practice, Umbra.

Hmm....This ride thing is really starting to become a problem. I don't know if I can help in anyway though...

I would really like to go to Inui's this Saturday, but this is my final week in Brawl Lockdown (No Video Games/related events) so I cannot.

Main Wario. Everyone says he's really fun.
Nah, he isn't except against bad/inexperienced people or people using bad characters. Even Fiction has seen the light now, he said he's going to camp as hard as possible now to punish everyone for camping him(because he loses if he attacks while they camp.)

Apply it to Snake/MK, and editted the lyrics for yourself so they're funnier.

Uh, may hold a large practice session on fri. Look around for confirmation tommorow.

Wario, the anti-MK. Instead of attacking, I'm going to camp even harder. :ohwell:

We want to, but we don't know how we are going to get there, so we probably won't make it. I don't want to ask our dad to take us this time, because it will discourage him from taking us in the future, when it's actually important for a tourney.

You could ask your dad for the equivalent in cash to the gas money he'd use driving you down to Princeton.

Lol, Teaneck beat West Milford in some sport last night in overtime. XD
My guess is the Sectional Finals for Basketball. That would be a pretty big deal.

My school won over 10 Sectional titles in Basketball, including one last year. This year they didn't even make it to states.

What happened that made your parents enforce this lockdown? :o.
Personal choice/I've got lots of school to be focusing on.

I've also been playing Guilty Gear and Melee.

Brawl isn't fun anymore (Against my brother, it's been 1 year since release and all we ever did was play Brawl).

I still play to win though.

Edit: Dan I forgot to ask you but did you remember any habits from me on that sunday we played, tips if any.
