Or if one already exists around Traverse City, could you please help me find it?
We've got a local Community College, so I was thinking of trying there first.

So much item and coin play... I can't believe that actually happened.
Probably killed whatever chance a community had of popping up.

Hour and a half isn't all that much of a distance.
I'd rather have the happenings take place around TC, since their connections ten to be stronger than those out here in Leelanau.
At least we've got cable.

I've been expect some boss levels and princesses in other castles before I got any head-way.

Just go where the Smashers are. Rsr2 is a great guy, but he doesn't get a whole lot of Smashing in 'cause there are so few Smashers that get together in the TC area. There's him and roughly four others, and that's stretching it. Basically it's him and Captain Rainbows. Then there's me sitting here in Manistee, and Robjoe and Flan in Ludington. Head further south to Muskegon and you hit a nice batch of Smashers, but we're all rather split between Brawl and Project M.

Nah don't rely on others to plan stuff.

Take the initiative start an open facebook group let people that are interested join.

Also structure and consistency is important. Pick a specific day of the week and set that aside as the time for your smashfests. For example over the summer we used to play every thursday at Lordy's house. Don't worry if everyone can't make it to every smashfest either, just get in the habit of having a smashfest open to everyone the same time every week or every other week.
