For me old-school is pre-2008 while new school is after Brawl's release with the big influx of new players and the game reviving its popularity in 2009.

But then you could probably go even deeper and say old school is 2004-2006.

I like the terms of 1st generation (2002-2005), 2nd generation (2006-2007), 3rd generation (2008-2011).

Old school players know probably better than me though, how would you separate eras?

Yeah the time period of "old school" needs to be defined.

Two people who haven't been mentioned that I think should be considered...CORT and Eduardo.

Edit: Oh yeah, and you might as well put in (almost) EVERYONE from the FC3 East vs. West crew battle. So shoutouts to VarietyBarrage, Kei, Manacloud, and KM.

I usually consider the eras by whoever was the top player at that time.

The major ones that most can pinpoint is the Ken era, the PC Chris era, the Mew2King era, and the Mango era. Then there are also sub-ones and the rise of players inbetween and during, like Recipherus/HugS/DSF/KDJ/King/ etc in their respective times of glory. Recipherus should almost get his own era before Ken, but I wasn't that aware when I joined the scene in 2003 so I didn't know much about him until later on after he quit, at the time I just knew he won some major tournaments. Mainly for me though old school is Ken era or sooner, because it's right around with Final Boss's domination in Halo 2 MLG, so it just sticks out the most for me and is long enough to where you can feel like a nerd-baller hipster for being around those times.

To clarify, are we listing the top 25 old school smashers skill-wise, or like "This guy wasnt a top player, but I knew of him in the community a long time ago" judging by the lists, I'm assuming by skill but thought I would ask. I'll make a list later :)
