The "this character deserves to be in smash more than this other one" is a stupid argument

Eh, the place is alright... it was the first website I was really active on... but some of the topics are seriously garbage.

I think at this point I just assume most places are trash lmao, I just occasionally lurk there to see what's being said.

Given that 80% of the time it's from links to the website that are explicitly about "hey look at this ridiculous thread", it makes sense that my experience would be a little bit biased

To be honest, if the developers put a character into a Smash game, then that means there were enough reasons why they thought they deserved to be in the game for them to put them in the game.

And the developers are the ones who make the game so any claims from the fanbase on what characters deserve to be in more than others are ultimately pointless at the end of the day.

Just wanted to get that in before this thread inevitably gets locked.

No, stalking around celebratory threads for the sole purpose of posting swear-filled rage at the fact that this character got in, ****ting all over her to people that are excited about her inclusion, and using language that says anything in the vein of "I'm paying for this game, it's my right to get what I want and Nintendo is wrong for picking Isabelle" are all things that are grounds for getting called a selfish needy brat.

No one is ****ting on her, at least not openly on here. to me, it sounds like it’s an exaggeration, and if they do so what? what’s that gonna change? calling people out on complaining doesn’t help anyone or make you any better than them. Again, just because they don’t share your enthusiasm doesn’t mean ALL of those who aren’t excited about something are purely complaining and whining about it. it’s like when you tell some one who is mad to calm down, and you’re just stirring the flame. it’s not helping.

and not to go back on what you’ve said previously but it could have sworn you said you were done with the subject.

Can you guys just, stop? You all have your opinions on this matter and it should be obvious by now that none of you are going to change the minds of each other. Regardless of how shoddy you think their reasoning might be.

At the end of day, regardless of what statements about overreaction or lack of gratitude are truly the case, you're all still guilty of contributing to an argument where you call each other out and anger one another. As stated before, no one's going to change their mind. You're all essentially just yelling at a brick wall. This argument will not go anywhere good. It's time to stop.

Correct me where I'm wrong. Soviet hasn't been in this thread since Saturday (and I feel we were likely only arguing because of a misunderstanding anyway, hence why our conversation stopped) and I haven't responded to or even read a single comment from the goofball since Friday, despite his obsessive stalking of the thread

With the exception of the new person to enter the debate, with whom I had no further intention of interacting with anyway following my comment about his inability to read, this argument has been over and done with for a good bit now.

I think this is why the speculation for certain newcomers is always increasing.

"If I disagree with Sakurai's decisions, surely he'll consider my fanbase and reward us for our patience."

Although some fanbases have been very patient waiting for extra representation, others have not. It's not just "My most wanted is better than this newcomer" is a flawed argument to begin with. I feel like the more impatient a fanbase is for newcomers, the higher chance there will be a newcomer to appease them.

If you're looking for relevance to Nintendo, Final Fantasy as a whole is big in Nintendo history. Cloud may not have been a major character in any games on a Nintendo console, but he's the face of Final Fantasy and makes the most sense as a Final Fantasy rep.
