It's always good to be pessimistic so you can never have your hopes dashed.Do you guys seriously think snake might be a trophy?! He won't be, unlike rayman, he actually has a moveset, rayman didn't. If sakurai is going to go through the trouble of getting him in, he will be playable. I know he is playable.
Either way hyped for Falcon, my secondary :D.
yeah, i guess your right. It's always good to be pessimistic so you can never have your hopes dashed.
The people cut in brawl were mostly clones right? Mewtwo was cut due to not enough time. But they have all the time now.Thing is, it doesn't make sense that they would just contact Konami for "Snake Trophy" especially when they already have the complete character already made..
Edit*
Seemed to me that one thing always against Snake was that there were only 47 characters that would be playable. With Gematsu gone, it seems likely that there will be more. Why cut complete characters?
Brawl, as a whole, seemed like it was really rushed, which is why I blame the terrible balancing amongst the cast. As I pointed out at the Ganondorf thread, I bet they're holding the dark lord back to give him a spiffy new move set. I think Smash 4 is having no problems with time constraints, it seems like they've worked out the majority of the cast and is working on cleaning up and balancing before release in Japan. The people cut in brawl were mostly clones right? I think the "legal" argument should be thrown away. It's great to see Falcon back, if Snake doesn't return than I'll probably second him like I did in 64. God, I haven't played as him in forever.
So we don't have any evidence for Snake, no official hints or anything like that. Anything like an answer is iffy. What we have against Snake is just as iffy, the only problem with his return is legal. Leaks are fifty/fifty on his return and that's where I am. I do think, though, that Snake will be in smash 4 and the only thing that could convince me otherwise is the release of the game.

Ehh...Well Sal/Getmatsu didn't leak Lucina and Robin. Here's what Sal had to say on Lucina and Robin.
As I'm sure most of ya know, the leaker e-mailed me last night teasing Shulk.
He also e-mailed me again this morning saying Nintendo keeps a lot secret from Bandai Namco, and that Sakurai may change his mind as he does all the time, but that Shulk was 100%.
A quote: "I only know what has been done, not what or when they will be made available. Sakurai may change his mind, and he does all the time. Shulk will not be changed."
I've e-mailed him about the lack of Shulk, as well as the whole Chrom being a Final Smash thing. I'll update if I get a response.
Still finding it hard to believe. 8 for 11 is no easy task. I wonder what he has to say.
Sal/Getmatsu have been right about Megaman,Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, Pac-Man, Greninja, Mii, and Palutena. Glad to know there more Newcomers they haven't leaked. I was thinking should we contact Sal and ask him about Snake?
This is a great argument, just everyone wants their characters in Smash Bros, mostly because it's a killer app and it's pretty much going, "hey, hey guys, you guys like our character? Come check out our games!" I don't exagerate when I say Smash bros might actually be one of the most popular fighting games.I think the "legal" argument should be thrown away.
Rayman and Wonder Red should prove this somewhat, as Sakurai stated they still need permission, even for trophies.
Doesn't make sense for Konami to tell Nintendo "No" in any regard. It's just a dumb move. Anyone relying on this for the reason "Snake should be cut" needs to get a clue.
Cut Characters in Brawl were mostly clones.
From what I gathered, seemed Sonic was added later on in development of the game so some of the characters needed to be omitted. Mewtwo was the only non-clone cut from the game.
I take Gematsu with a grain of salt as with any of the leaks, it's gotten most right but it's also didn't predict Rosalina and it says nothing about Snake. Given how much it has gotten right, discounting it because it didn't get Shulk right is a bit bizzare. However the leak did say that he would get 100% Shulk and we got no Shulk, so you gotta wonder.Ehh...
There are two possibilities
Sal is lying about getting Emails and making this stuff up
His leaker has outdated data.
Either way I'd be skeptic of what he would say. Even if he said he was playable I would be skeptic of it.
Before I came to Smashboards I was over at GameFAQs.I can't see Snake getting the same treatment as Rayman - while it was disappointing (in my eyes, at least - outside of Mega Man and the Brawl veterans returning, Rayman was my most-wanted third party character) that they got permission to use Rayman only to just have him as a trophy, he's never been in Smash Bros. before so it's not as big of a deal. However, with Snake, they've got the entire moveset made from the previous game - there's no point in throwing all of that work away and relegating him to a random trophy when he's already been playable in Smash Bros.
He said that we would get 100% Shulk after the new characters were already revealed, as reassurance that Shulk is in even though he wasn't revealed today. However the leak did say that he would get 100% Shulk and we got no Shulk.
Sort of off-topic, but I feel you man. That Chrom went the way of Tom Nook. As I have to realize that Sophitia will never be in Smash. My most wanted newcomer got deconfirmed...sigh...
At least most wanted Vet is still up.
Gematsu is also now in danger of being fake, if that helps Snake's chances in anyway. So if Big Boss would count as a newcomer, no leak is stopping him.
Rayman getting a trophy also can help if Sakurai got third party just for that.
I could totally see BB as an alt for Solid Snake, but I don't think we would get both due to the "one character per third party" rule. I think Konami could really start improving relations with Nintendo, no one can deny that it would be a powerful alliance.Sort of off-topic, but I feel you man. That Chrom went the way of Tom Nook. As I have to realize that Sophitia will never be in Smash.
Seeing this and that Lucina is no Marth alt, could it be possible both Snakes getting a similar treatment? Solid returns and we get Big Boss with a different array of moves and attacks? Of course we would have to deal Phantom Pain might not be released on Wii U.
At times I wished that when Kamiya was close to Nintendo, they would had released a special edition of MGR with contents like Raiden using the Master Sword, the Falchion or other similar Nintendo things, in order to make Snake (or even Raiden) present in Smash.
Holy... it just crossed my mind... remember how Chrom talks in that animation despite he is a Final Smash...? And that Dark Pit talks despite it is said he won't be playable...? What if the Raiden leak is true and Raiden at least speaks or has a role similar to DP and Chrom in the game? As I am sure these cutscenes we've been seeing are part of the "story mode" despite Sakurai said there wouldn't be any!
That would actually be a interesting way to do it. Such as when he showed the fake palutena trophy in the smash direct.Conspiracy theory time:
Rayman was revealed today to demonstrate to the audiences the possibilty of third party characters being used only for trophies. This now allows Sakurai to show potential Metal Gear trophies in various PotD, directs, demos, etc. without clearly giving away Snake's playable status.
Hopefully they reveal everyone in august direct before that. Please let there be snake....Supposedly CoroCoro is going to revel the entire Smash Bros Roster last month. Also back in 2007 they reveled Brawl's Roster.
http://mynintendonews.com/2014/07/1...-reportedly-revealed-in-next-months-corocoro/
didn't corocoro miss some characters in brawlYeah, I doubt Coro Coro is going to reveal secret characters, and that issue's probably not coming out until after the August direct, where we'll see the remaining starters. We can only pray that Snake is one of them.
From what I understand, they only revealed characters that Sakurai had already announced. Assuming we get a second Smash Direct in August with 6 new announcements:didn't corocoro miss some characters in brawl
But why does it have to replace a special move? One thing i thought about recently, was adding a possible CQC counter for snake. I dont know which special it could be or replace, but it would pretty much function like other counters, only snake would flip the enemy on their *** and leave them slightly dazed for a second.
This is an outstanding idea actually kind of like an offensive hold in Dead or Alive where as if you time it right it'll do damage but if you don't you will be left open for attack. But why does it have to replace a special move?
It could be activated by pressing the grab button right when an opponent does a physical attack.
Grabbing an opponent any other time would give the normal grab options of pummeling or throwing.
I'd like to see that.

it doesnt have to be, i just didnt have a better example for it at the moment. That could work well tooBut why does it have to replace a special move?

I like the idea of Snake's grab being closer to CQC, keeping it close and staying in control would be representative of how Snake and BB fights. I think if Snake got back in he would be more CQC dynamic, more attacks that belong in the game like the two punch leg sweep combo. The leg sweep could be like Zelda's dtilt with a chance of tripping...I like @ Rebellious Treecko 's idea of a counter grab, as that could really spice things up. It's also plausable, as Sakurai is really going full out with this game.
