are they making a minecraft movie? It better be some arthouse live-action/animation hybrid about a kid and her families struggling relationships and how Minecraft helps them express themselves. Plenty of dutch angles and under-saturated color pallets.

It’s live action and Jason Mamoa is supposedly Gabriel the Warrior from Story Mode.

The plot they gave us was that it would be about a girl and others (her friends? I forgot part of it) saving their blocky overworld from the evil Ender Dragon.

personally I’m disappointed it’s live action, but I’ll be less disappointed if it has Steve and he’s an important character.

edit: idk if the plot is still the same, it’s been 4 years and there’s been no official updates, just movie news accounts on Twitter have said it’s coming out in April 2025 iirc. They’re also the only source for Jason Mamoa being Gabriel, and his role is older news, so maybe that’s not confirmed for sure.

In other news I saw the trailer for that teen kraken movie in theators and while I kinda want to like the premise, I actually really hate it.

I like the idea of flipping the script and making the demonized character, the kraken, the good guy - and the romanticized character, the mermaid, the villain.

But I really don't like how they undermine the theme of "don't judge people by their appearances" by implying krakens are inherently good and mermaids are inherently evil. Maybe the actual movie will handle it with more nuance then that but right now it's really giving me the impression of a movie that thinks its going to be really meaningful and deep despite actually being very shallow. Young girls absolutely need to be taught not to base their worth in their appearances, but I feel like this movie will ultimately serve to make some of them feel more embittered to people more traditionally attractive then them.

But I dunno, maybe I'm thinking way too hard about a silly fish movie I'll probably never watch.

Oh I just love the fact that DreamWorks is making fun of Disney making "Ariel" the villain. Ha ha!

That design for her was clearly intentional and obvious.

This is actually more interesting then the live-action Little Mermaid and definitely worth seeing.

mermaids are inherently evil.

I mean to be fair, that's pretty spot-on accurate of what mermaids are in the original myths. Luring sailors with their singing before drowning them.

People nowadays are more used to the Disney take of mermaids.

My idea would be to give LittleBigPlanet a movie cuz imagine the art style. It'd be like stop-motion hand-crafted eye-candy narrated by Stephen Fry.

That or just make a Sonic spinoff movie featuring the Deadly Six

At 40 speed, he slays with speed taker.

I might train up a few of these new recruits in the paralouge i Haven’t done yet though.

Warriors and Wyvern knights are suppose to be pretty good in this game.
