When you go back in time and tell Ko Takeuchi that he has to be the one who makes a Luigi counterpart for Wario.
Or maybe just dismantle the idea that you have to have created a character to use them?
He wasn’t made by Nintendo themselves so he gets treated like the red-headed stepchild.
Which is just a dumb mentality. They own the character, they should use him. If they own a toy they should ****ING play with it!
Tbf, WarioWare doesn't use Mario characters in general. It's not like they're refusing to use Waluigi specifically.
Ironically it’s meant to be respectful. The mindset is “We didn’t make this character, so it’s not up to us to decide what he does. We’ll leave that to his creators.” But y’know, everyone hates that.
Now I may be wrong but I think for this one you're supposed to electrocute him for items.
Wario himself is supposed to represent how the SML2 devs were feeling when they had to make a Mario game: That they were making a bastardized version of Mario.
I can see that for like… the first few years while the same people are working at the same team, but when it’s decades later and different people are working at the studio now the construct kind of breaks down. Not to mention the fact that ALL OF THESE STUDIOS ARE USING MARIO ANYWAY TO BEGIN WITH.
