Probably the online needed for the online festureI hope that the "in-game purchases" note for Super Mario Bros. Wonder leads to something good.
Honestly? It feels like I'm able to be alive against instead of having to crawl through hell, last year I lost so much and had the genuine fear of homelessness due to a LOT of stuff happening but I've got my own place for half a year now and have started being able to take better care of myself. My cat's still happy with me too which makes me glad cause I was scared of having to abandon himSo...

I have all six banned ones though so that's something.
They weren't actually banned. The publisher just stopped printing them. We just used banned as shorthand because the reason they decided to stop printing them is because they had racist imagery in them. But they're not illegal. Just, you know... terrible.

To be fair, only "And To Think That I Saw it On Mulberry Street", "If I Ran the Zoo", and "McElligot's Pool" are like, eyeball bulgingly, yelling at squidwardly bad. The other three (especially "Scrambled Egg Super" and "On Beyond Zebra!") are kind of tame and feel like they were pulled "just in case" rather than "oh we can't keep showing these to kids any more". The one in "The Cat's Quizzer" in particular doesn't even make grammatical sense."Huh, I've never seen these books before. I wonder why they're ba----"
Oh nooooooooo

Not that this is toward just you, but did you all know, that the writer known as Dr. Seuss went by that name because in college, he did something bad and as punishment, they ended up not letting him write, which is something he liked doing? He seemingly bypassed this by going with the name, Dr. Seuss."I do not like them here or there
I do not like them ANYWHERE!"
- Dr Seuss
Dr.Seuss when discussing minorities."I do not like them here or there
I do not like them ANYWHERE!"
- Dr Seuss
And like, to be clear, when I say that these particular books are "not as bad" i mean that like... there are episodes of freaking DuckTales you can still watch on Disney+ that are just as bad, if not worse, and have like... content warnings on them for "racially charged problematic imagery".To be fair, only "And To Think That I Saw it On Mulberry Street", "If I Ran the Zoo", and "McElligot's Pool" are like, eyeball bulgingly, yelling at squidwardly bad. The other three (especially "Scrambled Egg Super" and "On Beyond Zebra!") are kind of tame and feel like they were pulled "just in case" rather than "oh we can't keep showing these to kids any more". Honestly, that's not even surprising. But real talk if you looked at Dr. Seuss's other work it was very apparent that he hated Asians. Like full on hated them.
It was WWII times so that more than likely played a factor but yeah not surprised they banned some of his books
I just ready this quote on the wikipedia page about Horton Hears a Who today actuallyBut real talk if you looked at Dr. Seuss's other work it was very apparent that he hated Asians. Like full on hated them.

It's actually rule 5Honestly, that's not even surprising.
As someone who likes mystery stories and whatnot, I've always heard about the "Knox Rules" or however it's described in how to write a mystery, but they always preface it with "Rule 4# is ignored."
Come to find out that Rule 4# was basically just the author hating Asian people and saying they were never allowed to be in a mystery story.
Dr. Seuss:I just ready this quote on the wikipedia page about Horton Hears a Who today actuallyI left in the sources they cited so you can fact check the paragraphGeisel began work on Horton Hears a Who! in the fall of 1953. It is his second book to feature Horton the Elephant with the first being Horton Hatches the Egg. The Whos would later reappear in How the Grinch Stole Christmas!. The book's main theme, "a person's a person no matter how small", was Geisel's reaction to his visit to Japan, where the importance of the individual was an exciting new concept.[5] Geisel, who had harbored strong anti-Japan sentiments before and during World War II, changed his views dramatically after the war and used this book as an allegory for the American post-war occupation of the country.[6] His comparison of the Whos and the Japanese was a way for him to express his willingness for companionship. Geisel strived to relay the message that the Japanese should be valued equally, especially in a stressful post-war era.[7] He dedicated the book to a Japanese friend.[8]
Edit: ok so two of the sources are books but.... idk man people change over time and if he really did visit japan AFTER the war... after what we did, i don't know how that couldn't humble even biggest assholes of all time
beating Spider-Man 2 was hype (but one of the side missions emotionally broke me), and I now obtained the Vine badge in Mario…which means Spider-Daisy is here for meSo...

I don't want to turn this into a racism debate. But I will say that the two that came after were the two that my earlier post about DuckTales applies too. Like, one shows a vaguely middle-eastern character from a fictional country riding a completely made up animal on one page. It's not great. But it's not any worse than Aladdin IMO. And the other one, The cat's quizzer, has a single illustration on a single page that has a waving man in a gray shirt and pants wearing a Kasa hat with the question "How old do you have to be to be a Japanese?". Like, that doesn't even make sense. Clearly there was a shift in his mindset after that time and this kind of content did completely disappear from his work after a certain point. The banned stuff is all mostly before the war and before his trip to japan so like... i don't know... context. It's actually rule 5

Ehhh.... not quite. I'm not a racial scholar but I've seen more than one article say that the book oversimplifies things and that color-blindness is more problematic than you'd think. But that's a bit beyond my reach cause I can't find the articles I read again. They're just jealous that he was one of the only authors ever to get racism allegories right
I kegit have no plans for halloween. My friends have all eather moved, died, or are living their life so im im kinda stuck in my house watching youtube or playing gamesSo, anyone doing anything fun for Heckoween?

I mean I was just making a el oh el mee mee so we really don't gotta have a racism debate (You wouldn't have a chance, I am a true racist)I don't want to turn this into a racism debate.
