It's actually not a bad Pokémon clone.

Man, rewatching older episodes of Amphibia isn't the same after the series finale:

Every single shot of the moon is absurdly subtle foreshadowing. The main villain of the show, or at least an extension of them, is literally hidden in plain sight.

It's even the very first thing you see in the show proper in the opening of the show's first episode. Braly had to have had this planned since the beginning.

The moon is also, like many motifs throughout the show, a symbol of change, which is the main theme of the show.

Frogs, butterflies, moths, dragonflies, and autum leaves are also symbols of change that are scattered everywhere throughout the show.

PLA’s story was bland, and SwSh’s story was pure nonsense. It won’t take much to top them.

Though like you said, what matters most is the gameplay.

Hella late response but PLA's story was really only there for lore building purposes, which it did a good job with all the callbacks and stuff.

I’d already been playing for a long time, and I felt like I wasn’t making much progress. I wasn’t too invested in the plot, because I already knew what was gonna happen pretty much. And the gameplay wasn’t hooking me.

It’s not like I hated it or anything. It’s just one of those games that probably isn’t my style.
