I know some of y'all's, like Noivern and Mimikyu and Greninja and Weezing. But in general, discussing our top favorite pocket monster is just something I find really fun.

Stunfisk gets super close, though. I like derpy Pokemon.

In the past I've mentioned how Meganium would see the Love type added onto its Grass-typing going by my ideas for Purore.

But I had always kept a thought in my back pocket of giving the player the option to choose a Johto starter in the Purore games, much like how Kalos let you choose a Kanto starter. And as much as I would love to shove a big light onto the flower sauropod and make it look so much cooler to players because for some reason an entire dinosaur with nature powers isn't cool enough, I wanna try and be fair and give Feraligatr and Midphlosion Typhlosion their dues too. So I will also be adding second types onto them.

A lot of people suggest adding the Ground typing to Typhlosion, and I agree with this. It do be the Volcano Pokemon after all, and volcanoes are essentially fiery ground pimples. Simply stick Bulldoze, Earthquake and Scorching Sands into its level-up moveset and you're good to go.

As for Feraligatr...people look at my poor croco friend and declare 'BIG UGLY MEAN CROCODILE MONSTER!!! EVIL!!! DARK TYPE!!!' But that's a hard no for me. Not every monstrous-looking Pokemon with violent hunting tactics should be defaulted to dark type. Now, being a big Lizard Thing with lots of Dragon-type TM moves, the Dragon type WOULD make sense...but hear me out: ICE type. Yeah this'd make its matchup against Meganium even more onesided (so would Dark lol), but think about it. Ice Fang is one of Feraligatr's most iconic moves - it's a huge help throughout the game, especially in HGSS - and just like Dragon, it gets a hefty helping of Ice moves through TMs. Give it Ice Punch as a level-up move and plop Avalanche onto its level-up set too so it can take advantage of its hefty defenses. And pop in new Pokedex details about how it can channel its lizard-y cold blood into its bites to give a chilling sensation when it strikes with those big meaty jaws.

So boom! We have our newly refurbished Johto starters, ready to take advantage of Typergy:
Meganium, a Grass/Love type with Grass and Love Typergy forms
Typhlosion, a Fire/Ground type with Fire and Ground Typergy forms
and Ferailgatr, a Water/Ice type with Water and Ice Typergy forms

Several people consider Bulbasaur to be a frog as well. So that gives us Grass Frog and Water Frog. And I of course made a Fire Frog starter for my Purore region!

With that said I'd like to have a grass croc the most. I like reptiles, I like flowers, so give me a big majestic crocodile with beautiful blooms growing all over it and I'm sold.

Maybe a proboscis monkey for Water? They've been known to swim in water:

Crocodile Pokemon are pretty much all winners in my book and a Grass Croc would be easy - make it all swampy.

Fire turtle's already been done (technically twice with Turtonator) but turtles are one of my favorite animals so I wouldn't say no to another.

Water cat is trickier but they could do something with it. Maybe a Turkish Van since they love water?

I don't think there's an intentional pattern going on but as long as they follow the tradition of basing starters off animals then we're probably bound together see some of these eventually.

They could also do a different spin on a tiger since those are known to swim, or they could base it off a fishing cat.

Of course they could also say "screw you" and just make a cat water type for no reason. I mean it makes as much sense as a fire croc.

Water orangutan. Infernape was lean and Rillaboom was built, so make this one chunky.

Water kitten that turns into a snow leopard, gaining the Ice type. Maybe it can be a cool snowy big cat, but it’d probably be a humanoid figure skater idk.

Fire sea turtle. It swims through lava and its shell is formed from hardened magma.

Grass swamp gator. Maybe make it a caiman or something to touch upon a lesser known species.
