To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existential catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂
And yes, by the way, i DO have a Rick & Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- and even then they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin personnel kid 😎
According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway because bees don't care what humans think is impossible. Yellow, black. Yellow, black. Yellow, black. Yellow, black. Ooh, black and yellow! Let's shake it up a little. Barry! Breakfast is ready! Ooming! Hang on a second. Hello? - Barry? - Adam? - Oan you believe this is happening? - I can't. I'll pick you up. Looking sharp. Use the stairs. Your father paid good money for those. Sorry. I'm excited. Here's the graduate. We're very proud of you, son. A perfect report card, all B's. Very proud. Ma! I got a thing going here. - You got lint on your fuzz. - Ow! That's me! - Wave to us! We'll be in row 118,000. - Bye! Barry, I told you, stop flying in the house! - Hey, Adam. - Hey, Barry. - Is that fuzz gel? - A little. Special day, graduation. Never thought I'd make it. Three days grade school, three days high school. Those were awkward. Three days college. I'm glad I took a day and hitchhiked around the hive. You did come back differe-gets slapped

I still don't know if nowadays DreamWorks is still better than Illumination.

Each time I ask myself which studio I would have given the Mario movie to I am tempted to say DreamWorks but then I get locked thinking about how they made Boss Baby and Trolls World Tour.
To be fair, DreamWorks has quite the amount of good **** to counterbalance the likes of Boss Baby meanwhile IMO the only really good movie Illumination's made was the first Despicable Me and everything else ranges from fine to poopy

wait, are you referring to me? or am I reading this sentence wrong?
Nah just in general
Finn is trending in Twitter because of how dirty he was done in Star Wars.

****ing Rian Johnson.
I'm not a Star Wars fan but didn't Rian Johnson only do Last Jedi, the one that strongly implies Finn's force sensitive and builds that up for a payoff in the sequel? I'd blame JJ Abrams as he just **** on that entire subplot with episode 9 and considering I never hear what that movie did for Finn, I'm pretty sure the man straight up didn't know what he was going for with the first movie he did. Idk, I love Knives Out and I feel ****ting on Rian's just a meme because Star Wars fans gotta be Star Wars loons

I'm gonna be honest and say I was never a fan of J.J.Abrams' stuff.

Never got interested on his Star Trek movies, and apparently I didn't miss out on much. And honestly the two Star Wars movies he made weren't as enjoyable as Rogue One or shows such as Star Wars Rebels.

Edit: and don't even get me started on the way he does lightning on his movies.

Johnson was the catalyst by casting him into a rather irrelevant B plot, Abrams was the activator. And I don't hate Johnson, but that was a bad decision that lowkey kinda reeks of racism when you dive on how Disney treats their black actors and characters and such.

Given the related discussion. Will be watching episodes 8, 9, and 10 of Hilda Season 2 tonight. After how episode 7 ended, I'm anxiously curious to see how 8 pans out.

Idk, I lack context but implying Finn was force sensitive and building up on him potentially also becoming a Jedi sounds like RJ had an idea of what to do.

Also yeah everyone with a minimum of 3 braincells can tell Disney was being racist lmao

I agree, my big issue is that all that was thrown in a B plot that had nothing to do with the movie.

Stuff like the Disney racism involving Finn or the constant missfires Big film Studios keep making are the reason why I believe independent movies should be more important than ever before.

The companies keep messing Up with a lot of choices (just look at the controversy involving HBO Max from recently) so I feel that we need to let the spotlight go for independent studios and teams so that people who are way more passionate about the industry can come up with great stuff for everyone to see.

Maybe I could have worded this post better, but hopefully both of you understand what I tried to say.

Certainly miles better than Family Guy and modern Simpsons.
And Futurama is still better than those two plus South Park, American Dad and all those kinda shows. I'm surprised I haven't gotten round to Rick and Morty yet as it's definitely my type of thing.

Though from the same creator's I'm getting Trover Saves the Universe when that price drops.

We all might have different opinions but I'm certain you'll love it. Its complicated but in a fun and wacky way you couldn't help but love it. xD

Also, proud owner of all 4 seasons on DVD.

Rick and Morty is one of those shows that’s pretty damn good, but not nearly as incredible as it’s fans act like it is.
That's the deal with it. When watching through, I think the "golden age" of the show was seasons 1-3. Seriously loved those seasons.

While season 4 was still good, there are a couple of stinkers in the first half before it warms up in the second half. I don't think the show is as funny as what it used to be. I think Harmon can still help get the show back to S tier level like in the first few seasons, but season 4 is a serious dent in the show's legacy. Besides, as great as seasons 1-3 are, there are other shows that are probably just as funny and yet have stronger character development (see: Bojack Horseman and Futurama).

Although I liked season 3, I thought it was a step down from the last two seasons, however,I'm so far finding 4 to be an improvement.

I'll be honest, I would have been fine if the show ended with 3 and the last episode of that closed on a good note but given the creativity of the show I think there's still more that can be done and look forward to potential future seasons.
Fun fact: the spanish voice actor for Bender from Futurama in Spain is the same one for Doofenzmirtz from Phineas & Ferb.
Fun Fact: The lips the characters in Rick & Morty makes was based on what Ren would make in Ren & Stimpy.

I’ve watched a teensy tiny bit of futurama and I liked what I saw. Wouldn't exactly ever actually watch the entire thing though: sci-fi just isn’t my thing.

Another Fun Fact: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles started as a parody and based off Daredevil.

Notably Splinter being based off of Daredevil's mentor Stick especially given the wooden-related names.

Thankfully it's a lot more than that. Season 1 is decent but it doesn't really get going until season 2. That's when the seriously strong character moments begin becoming more prominent.

If you see it as a silly little sitcom, then you'll probably enjoy it anyway. Sci-fi is just for aesthetic; the character interactions are what matter and what you focus on.

Sitcoms aren’t really my thing and it being sci-fi doesn’t really help.

For what it is it looks good but I’m hesitant to go all in because of that.

I should have been watching western cartoons again ages ago but my anime shell is way too comfortable.

I shall one day. Rick and Morty, Invader Zim, The Legend of Korra, King of the Hill etc all look interesting to me but I'm too used to my slice of life comfy-ness, Isekai and whatever crazy premise anime comes up next.

Might watch anime tonight actually.

I think Finn being force sensitive was implied as early as TFA so I wouldn't give TLJ too much credit for it, particularly since the movie bungles him in other ways.

I was never that into adult cartoons. I've only seen episodes of classic Family Guy and The Simpsons, and a single episode of The Cleveland Show.
I don’t blame you considering they seem pretty samey.

Some I recommend you to look into are Futurama, Bojack Horseman, Primal and Close Enough.

I just found out that Sean Chiplock, the voice of Revali in Breath Of The Wild, is a moderator on a voice over Discord I'm. From this day forth, I am calling Revali "Discord Mod" and no one can stop me.
That sounds like a fun idea.
I wonder if Link would join the server and annoy him...
