Finished my SwSh replay.

The first half of the game is an aight Pokémon game. The story is uninteresting, but it's Pokémon so I don't really care. The region design is hallways, but you're inclined to let it slide because it's still early game. It's still decently fun.

The game falls apart in the second half. It almost feels like they were running out of time.

The region design somehow gets more linear, and it's boring as sin. The story goes from bland to stupid in a millisecond, I could be here for hours ranting about Rose and his bull****. And don't get me started on how they drag you away, whenever something cool is happening off screen. "LeT tHe AdUlTs HaNdLe ThIs!" **** you! I wanna fight the giant rampaging Pokémon!

It gets to a point where, personally, the core Pokémon loop isn't enough for me to ignore the sheer inanity happening. It's just too dumb.

A basic Pokémon game, that's fun at first, but quickly loses it's mind. And not in a good way.

On a purely personal note, I find this game hilarious.

Hyping for gen 8 got me through one of the worst times in my life. Before it was even officially announced, the thought of Pokémon on the switch kept me going.

A healthy coping mechanism? Not at all. But that's how it was.

So in hindsight, the fact that Galar doesn't really click with me is peak irony.

Even outside of the boring region design and the ridiculous story, there's a lot of subjective things I don't like.

I don't like the Galar region, a lot of it's locations do nothing for me. Though some of that may be due to the fact that there's nothing to explore.

I don't like the Galar culture, and the hyperfocus on the gym challenge. I don't like the starters, or the legendaries, or either of the evil teams. I think Yell and Macro Cosmos are easily the worst gangs in the franchise.

These are things other people do like, and that's awesome! But they don't gel with me the way they do with others, not like how Alola did.

Currently untitled Spain region looks lovely already, though. So maybe I'm in for a good time soon.

Not the worst thing ever, of course. Just pretty dull and not very innovative. It's kinda the barebones Pocket Monsters formula, without much extra to set it apart.

I don't see myself returning to it any time soon.

But I'll give it this, the DLCs were a decent improvement. And for as basic as it is, the Wild Area paved the way for open world Pokémon. And thanks to it, the series finally seems to be moving upwards.

Thank the stars for Legends. Let's hope SV continues the positive trend.

Nintendo Twitter hates anything that isn’t BotW, so they don’t get to have a say in games they don’t play.

Maybe I’d take their opinions a little more if they actually played them. :happysheep:

Ok

reading through that Twitter thread and

wow, adults are really malding over video game sales

bruh :125:
Assuming you mean Pikemon, it's always funny how they always blame trillions of the sales on diehard fans eating up any garbage and how we're never getting any good games ever again.

But they neglect the fact that children are the primary audience and parents buy them for their kids (and maybe thekseoves too, D&P kids are adults that may have children of their own) which make up the majority.

And on the topic of never getting a good game, people said that with SwSh and we got PLA like 2 years later lol.

**** outside of money how do normal people do 9 to 5, five days a week at least without questioning their existence?

What else are they supposed to do? Play video games?

Gotta complain to feed the cycle of the rabid fanbase.

Kinda like a certain one we all know.

IDK man SwSh isn't perfect but it was a solid 7/10 bumped up to an 8 with the DLC from what I saw of it, only game I thought was kinda weak was Let's Go and people are starting to stan that one, so IDK anymore. :drshrug:

The Indie World presentation just finished. Nothing really stood out to me or even made me think "huh - I might pick this up", going by the gameplay that was shown. (a game called One Shot looked similar to Undertale, but barely any gameplay was shown, so I don't have much to go on) Totally Accurate Battle Simulator is coming to Switch, but I'm not sure how fun that would be to play. Maybe that's a sign that I need to branch out into other genres, but my backlog's big enough as it is.

Imo SwSh is like a 6/10 without DLC at best. The DLC bumps it up to like a 7.5ish.
I wonder if putting the switch to sleep counts as turning off the game for Oneshot and will kill Niko
Based OneShot enjoyer?

It actually isn't really like Undertale at all, its narratively very different and mechanically is entirely a puzzle game with zero combat. It's a meta, narrative driven puzzle game that is very immersive and personal with its story. I features mechanics that interact with you personally and adress you, the player, and even has puzzles that interact with your PC's files and desktop, requiring you to play the game outside of the game.

Honestly, don't wanna say more than that, as the game is best experienced completely blind. If you ever do decide to pick it up, it's about 8 hours for a full playthrough.

I never played it but i wont lie when I say i m pretty intrested. I know the basic point of it, beat it in one shot and he dies if you turn off the game. I think I watched people play it years ago
Actually

Niko dying only happens in the original version that was made for a game jam, the commercial release has it so closing the window saves your progress and you pick back up where you left off. Niko still reacts to it, though, and it makes them a little unsettled.

The reason its still called OneShot is...Well, uh, spoilers, so yeah. :046:

Oh, okay - I thought it looked similar based on the glimpses that I saw (at least in terms of the overworlds of the two games), but that was based on roughly ten seconds of gameplay with no context where it changed the scene every second and a half or so.

It admittedly wasn't a super great showing of what the game actually is, ha ha. They kinda just showed Niko walking around for a minute and called it a day!

Also, as another fun fact: The PC version is made in the very, very old RPG Maker XP. I wonder what engine the console ports are using...
