This also supports Caco Mallow and proves that specific promotional materials are likely made in advance. So I wonder if this means that is true, and maybe we finally see Geno or Doom Guy. The later making a lot of sense for a game awards reveal.

Except the Luminary and Erdrick were both decided on at the same time:

  • Originally, there were only two Heroes set to join Smash Ultimate, being Erdrick and Eleven. But Horii later said it would be fine to have four Heroes join. According to Sakurai, he was ready to make eight different Heroes, but that wasn’t a realistic option.

So both should've been there going off of that point. Erdrick was probably just used alone because, as said before, they couldn't fit in the other alts and he's already highly emphasized in Smash anyway. The other alts being absent is not indicative of this being an earlier promotional image nor is it indicative of anything regarding Cacomallow.

Still lumineary is the face so why isn’t he in place of Elderick? Also why not everyone from base is there the DLC alts were made sure to be included, so why no heroes?

We also know Sakurai loves DQIII. Luminary is emphasized due to promotional factors along with what is obviously a business thing. Sakurai clearly likes Erdrick more, and if he can, it looks like he's use him as much as possible.

At least this actually implies who Sakurai wants more, instead of stuff that really didn't mean much at all. For instance, people mistake the Kirby hat for relating to Erdrick. But it's actually something from XI instead, which are references to Erdrick's Armor and Sword. Every single Boxing Ring title is actually accurate to the character. Erdrick just always had a way cooler title, that's all. Every single game has spirits, but only Luminary's set is for the actual heroic team anyone has. Business is just at play here, bias can be seen. Nothing strange at this point.

I'd say we're just lucky we got two other heroes. Who knows what other games would've been done with the actual Spirits. Likely it'd just have been III and XI, maybe I as well. But obviously the business plans were to hard push the latest game re-release. Simple~

It is worth noting, though, there may have been some unique reasons why only specific characters were chosen here. Besides obviously only so much space. Could be marketing related for all we know. I wouldn't put too much stock into it here.

The same reason why Kirby doesn't reference Luminary with his Hero hat and the same reason Luminary didn't get the final smash in the trailer. Erdrick's the more iconic one and thus got first billing

They likely just cut corners out of neccesity for clarity. This literally means nothing

Luminary was in the first anniversary pic without the other alts. Neither image hints at anything and looking into them is pointless. They're just promos for spirit events.

Only half of this is right. That's never been Erdrick's Circlet or his Sword. The actual character it comes from is Erdwin, who is, as I noted, a straight reference to Erdrick. That's why they look very similar. It's a super easy mistake for anyone to make, though. Erdrick doesn't even have a Circlet. Or a Coronet, more specifically, as a legitimate item. Not that it'd matter obviously... if it was actually referencing Erdrick, but since it's not, that's a funny note.






You can tell how similar they are, hence the easy mistake.

And yeah, Erdrick is mucho important so he's likely easier to get for use with promotional stuff. Luminary was clearly the focus for the core game content instead. Bias may also be at play, though.

...Why can't people let Cacomallow die? Like, you could barely let it go till Min Min, but then Steve came around. It's dead, Jim.

Just found out I can actually compete in the Mario Smash Tournament thing because it's on my birthday which I asked to have off from work.

Hoping to do well as a Yoshi main. I normally do decently in the online tourneys but should probably get some practice in beforehand.

Downloaded Mega Man 8-Bit Deathmatch. Pretty great, even if I've only beaten the first part of the story on easy mode...
So I've started working on my own custom skin. The character I chose isn't that big a surprise if you know me, but I'm curious about how I'm gonna be able to pump this thing out easily...

my school laptop is weird: it blocks certain sites like wikias during the day but unblocks them at night. But why? What is even the point? I mean I'm not complaining but still.

That's not weird in the slightest. Wikias are a primarily hobby-based website domain. Your school's laptop is just blocking them during school hours, then unblocking them when the designated end time for school is reached.

I'm gonna just point out something that no one has brought up.


Look at where Hero was in All Star Mode before the Min Min Patch. Hero was where DQ11 would have came out in the timeline, but after Min Min came out, Hero was moved all the way back to... where DQ3 should be.


Yes, Luminary is the face of the Hero in Smash, but Erdrick is the actually important one with the fame and legacy to his name, so no, for the love of god this has NOTHING to do with Caco Mallow for the millionth bajillionth time. Erdrick is simply the most iconic and prolific of the 4 Heroes, and at least in Smash, the first one as well.



I miss the time when it was okay to let leaks die and not try to Pepe Silvia them.

It's the fact they even unblock them at all that I find weird actually. It's a bit uncommon for schools to do that from my experience. But eh, not complaining.
