Gen 4: Turtwig
Gen 5: Snivy
Gen 6: No idea, they're all equal to me
Gen 7: Popplio

Gen 1: Charizard from KANTOOOOOOOOOO

Gen 2: Typhlosion when he’s not looking like a sad banana

Gen 3: This one’s hard cuz they’re all badass, but Swampert is my favorite. I liek mudkips.

Gen 4: Once again, they’re all dope. But Torterra. It’s a giant tortoise with tree on its back, what more could you want?

Gen 5: Gotta get back. Back to the past. Samurott Jack.

Gen 6: Chespin’s my favorite first stage, but Chesnaught sucks. So Greninja.

Gen 7: I love them all, they’re all so great. Decidueye’s cool, Primarina’s adorable, but as a man who values comedy I gotta go with Incineroar. Hot Topic Tony the Tiger lookin ass. Love him.

Gen 8: This one’s hard cuz they’re all so bland. I’ll go with Cinderace, but I’m not nuts about it.

Very good first impressions. As somebody who is usually very harsh on Pokémon (Sword and Shield was awful,) I've really been enjoying this.

idk man, Wendigo is a taboo spirit, not a random monster. Indigenous people who believe made a point about how they don't like it being used as a pop culture creature that strips it out of its cultural context. That feels like a controversy Pokemon would rather avoid.

I should note that final evolutions are what makes or breaks a starter for me

I was firmly on Team Scorbunny when they were first shown off but I had to double take when I saw the leaked pictures of Cinderace because it genuinely didn't look like a fully evolved Pokémon.

On a more positive note I was Team Sobble when the Gen 7 starters were revealed but when the final forms were leaked I immediately jumped ship to Team Rowlet because Decidueye was just too cool (though Primarina grew on me over time and I like it a lot now)

I always go for Fire Starters cause Water types are abundant and Grass is kind of boo-boo.

But that said,

Blastoise > Charizard >> Venusaur All 3 are GOATs tho.
Typhlosion > Feraligatr >>>>>>> Meganium
Blaziken >> Swampert > Sceptile All 3 are GOATs too.
Infernape >>>> Empoleon >>> Torterra
Emboar > Samurott = Serpierior, all 3 are kind of mid, even if B/W is my favorite game.
Greninja >>>>>>> The other two.
Incineroar >>>>>> The other two.
I haven't played Gen 8, but those 3 look kind of mid.

I mean, they've been quite busy in that regard, especially earlier on in the leakosphere. But now that it's leaked in such a manner that Joe Schmoe and his hacked Switch can play it - see my post above, there's not really much they can do. The unwinnable game of Whack-a-Mole, if you will.
