A pretty well-thought summary of the population of a fantasy world, overall. I especially liked Therians and while I'm normally not interested in Elfs, placing them in a cultural background disconnected from Europe is certainly a unique touch.
Giving fantasy creatures such clear connections with real countries is a bold choice but you seem to have done your research, so I can't comment on that. I liked the diversity it brings, though.
Thanks!
I mainly went with the cultural counterpart idea on the basis that I needed some sort of basis for the aesthetic and architecture beyond just "This is the short race," "This is the strong race," "This is the smart race," etc.
I originally started out with only half of what I have now with what I thought was the standard fantasy races, but as I went on I ended up A: Diversifying the general Beastfolk concept I had into all the different Therians, and then B: Adding races from other mythologies beyond the standard European ones because I felt like those deserved more coverage, especially if I'm representing the cultures the mythologies came from.
Also the fact that I started listing them out, and so I felt like I needed to add more points while I did that, and that led to me fleshing them out some more.
The East Asian Elves idea came from me learning about the countries East Asian Cultural Sphere, plus the idea that the different cultural backgrounds could help make the setting more distinct, and so I went with that.
