Usually when people get trapped in the darkness in KH, it's like two people together max. Plus it played a lot into the original teaser and if I was going to link to anything, it would have been world of light.
Fair observation. It just seamed so obviously linking into KH to me. Like. Anything else would feel kind of silly as payoff to the setup.

The most logical conclusion is they couldn’t. They pulled out all the stops for this one (aside from actually having Mickey in a smash game, but it’s understandable) because it’s the end of an 8 year journey. Sora is the most requested smash character, and he’s ending Smash in the most special way possible.
If I were to be a grubby gamer who kept asking for more, I could. Yeah I'd still think getting Crash, Chief, Quote and whoever else would be cool. I think Chief could do it if matching the hype was a necessity. Really the only thing I think that could surpass Sora is actually getting a 1st party Playstation character.
To be fair, despite every youtuber and website advertising Sora leaked for smash. Most people didn’t take it seriously because 4chan. Despite the fact that you know, the final base roster and literal first presentation for the game leaked on there, in very similar manner. Bottom line a real leak always has a solid story backing up their info one way or another.
I’ve played most of the Kingdom Hearts games and honestly didn’t expect a Sora trailer to play out like that. I kinda of expected what I said above or even the Gummi ship crashing into smash.
Yeah, someone like, Kratos? would probably generate a ton of insanity imo, since, ya know, suddenly SONY in the credits.
I wonder if it might lead to more collaborations between Nintendo and Disney. The image of Sora shaking hands with Mario is one that will sit with me forever but it's funny to think we haven't had Mickey shaking hands with Mario.
While they definitely couldn’t top Sora or honestly this pass( since it gave us some really solid inclusions that deserved the Rep in one way or another), I do think they could rival the pass or come close if they literally pulled out all the stops.
To be fair, games like MK11 finally added Spawn after people asking for years, and followed him up with Rambo of all people. What's done is done, and I'm glad it ended on a high note. But the world of video games is pretty vast, there'll always be someone who can hype up tons of people.
