So, Project 06 had a major update recently. Sonic and Shadow's levels are fully in now, I think.

In just a couple more years, we're probably gonna get a fully playable 06 that's actually good thanks to this fan remake and that's insane lol.

I'm more just curious why Geno of all Mario RPG characters got the cult following. I ain't throwin' shade, it's just...

I see no same level of love or outcry for any other character from Mario RPGs. Heck, Paper Mario fans have been vocal as heck for the last decade yet in Smash bubble almost no one cares about it. It's all SMRPG and Geno. Heck, hardly anyone cares about Mallow either, just Geno.

It's weird.

I’m not really sure either, I feel maybe part of it is the memes and his design attracting a lot of people to him (at least his design alone got me interested, thought he looked really cool, and he is cool for more than his design imo after reading what people have said about him and then having actually played SMRPG). Maybe him seeming cool with some mystery or something. Of course, some of the fans are people who have known him for a long time, with them and newer fans wanting the characters to be used again.

It is strange there isn’t much outcry for other RPG characters, though. You see some support for Mallow, and a lot of Geno fans also like him but understandably want to see Geno first, but there’s not that much Mallow support nor much for the other RPG characters; closest I can think of is maybe Fawful, and his support isn’t really very loud either from what I can tell.

Outside of Smash, though, there is a decent outcry for the RPG characters to be used in other Mario games like the spinoffs, at least, although I guess even then it’s not that loud, not sure…

I think at least Operation Starfall supports SMRPG as a whole, and not just Geno, although Geno may be the main one they’d like to see in regards to Smash, but I don’t know for certain how they feel on that.

AFAIK ChaosX (the developer) hasn't stated that the cutscenes or hubs will be in, for now, it's just the levels.

And even if it were recreated, it's a meme, so I doubt anyone would care.

For the first question, I don’t think you can run mods from multiple versions at once. Part of the reason some mods only work for some versions is because of ID jank. (if a mod has an item with the same ID as a vanilla item it can sometimes cause unintended problems like vanilla items being removed entirely)


As for Citadel, that’s the first time I’ve heard of it, but a curious google search lead me to this:

the TLDR version is that it’s just a library of stuff for developers. You don’t need to worry about it unless you are developing a mod or are installing a mod that uses stuff from this mod.

From what I’ve observed it seems to be because the SMRPG cast and worlds will most likely never appear again. Not even in small cameos, at this point. So it’s the fans who connected with these characters all those years ago and are desperately wanting them to be acknowledged in smash, so at least they’ll be immortalized in gaming’s hall of fame. As for why Geno specifically…I think he’s just the most popular new character.

And some of the outcry is just bandwagoning from people who saw Ridley, K Rool and Banjo get in and wanted to be right about another fan favorite.

Not sure if there even will be another 2D Mario, at least not yet.

Prime 4 is probably still in the void, but Dread will definitely appear.

I’m contractually obligated to point out that they’ll probably show off a few Hisui Pokémon for Legends Arceus.

Rare games would be cool. So cool they won’t do it.

I was more trying to put it in a jokey kinda way, Sunshine objectively is a fine game.

Subjectively, though, I always thought it was the weakest 3D Mario, personally.

Honestly, I don’t think that’d fix anything substantial. Sure it’d make the whole romance thing less icky on a surface level but that doesn’t fix literally everything else about her character or her relationship with Sonic

Ehhhhh Jungle Beat is a weird case.

It was made at a time when DK’s identity was all wonky because it’s main developer was gone, so they didn’t really know what they were doing when it came to character and feel. And it was made to fit the DK Bongoes. And I guarantee the people working on it grew up with arcade DK as their DK.

If the rumors to be believed, then the folks working at Nintendo EPD are a lot of people who played the country games as kids, and love it’s characters. You can see that in the New Donk City references. I don’t think they’d mistreat it’s characters and world this time. Not to mention it won’t be tethered to a weird controller anymore.

No, it won’t feel just like Rare or just like Retro. But that would be the case no matter who’s working on it.

I keep saying it, but I’m gonna say it again. If Nintendo EPD is working on this game, DK is in good hands. It’s not an obligation for a western studio to make a DK game for it to be good. That really shouldn’t need to be said.

Just wait and see, if it’s not to your liking then fine, but don’t write it off before we even know it exists.

And play the Galaxy games and Odyssey. They made those games, it could give you a feel for how it may (emphasis on MAY) turn out in some ways.
