Ever played the original FFVII? There's a scene where Aerith is a child and this woman takes her in because her mother died. The woman's husband is a soldier in the war and every day she waits by the train station for him to come home. What really makes it is the music; the graphics are garbage but they don't need good graphics for emotional storytelling. They have the atmosphere. Aerith tells her that someone close to her has died but don't be sad because he's returned to the planet. She doesn't believe Aerith at first. Finally she gets a letter saying her husband was killed in the war. That scene actually got to me more than certain other characters dying. The remake really couldn't capture it. It goes to show how graphics aren't everything.
