I mean to be fair every decade had its time.

80s was slasher and horror films.
90s was action films.
Last decade and this has superheroes.

It's a phase that fly eventually. Give it time. From how things seem to be now with Rampage, Sonic the Hedgehog, Detective Pikachu, Angry Birds, video game movies could be the next big thing in cinema eventually. I'm feeling the upcoming animated Mario movie is gonna be its peak as 2012's Avengers was for superhero movies.

You speak of only movies...but I mean literally everything (tho the MCU is a massive benefit). But outside of that area, there's been a plethora of amazing shows, games, merch, etc. Marvel and DC have been a huge play in this sure, but the likes of Ninja Turtles, The Boys, and Kick Ass helps. With Image Comics adapting the likes of Invincible and Jupiter's Legacy, there's a ridiculously large chunk of superhero content left from all over the world that can get huge media attention, giving out countless unique takes on the genre in the process

I've been a long time fan of the superhero/comic genre for quite a while since the 90's when I first watched the animated series of Spider-Man (with Christopher Daniel Barnes.)

I do agree that ever since the introduction of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Extended Universe etc, the interest demand for the superhero genre is a lot more stronger than before.

now we wait for the inevitable readaptations for the likes of Red Sonja and Witchblade in the form of movies or animated/anime series to get to as many demographics as possible. And those are just the easiest characters to think of
