I also have to agree that Mewtwo is more deserving than Ridley but I would say that Metroid needs the representation more than Pokemon.

It is indeed a possibility, but Sakurai has apparently listened to people's requests this time, and he's teased him a lot. I'm pretty sure Ridley is in Sm4sh.

Ridley isn't on the starting roster, so unless he is treated as Sonic and Snake for Brawl, it won't happen. Besides, the Japanese need to be hyped, not us

That's the fun part of Smash speculation. And the hardest too.
The thing is, if Ridley is in, I'm completely sure he will be secret, so we might not see him until after the game is released in Japan... I hope we do, though.

The starting roster is just the ones that aren't unlockable, Lucina isn't on the starting roster either.

Mewtwo's importance has always been very exaggerated imo. He's definitely the most iconic legendary Pokémon, but he's still not on league with Pikachu or Charizard, and will also always be less important than the current marketing darling. Ridley is the main antagonist of his franchise and set all of its event in motion, so I think it's rather one-sided.

Or simply a download on the 3rd of October revealing a character that will be playable once it's available in US and Europe, and for Japan by updating the game. Like this it stays a surprise for everyone.

I saw this mentioned a bit ago and figured I'd get you guys ideas on it since it relates to there still being characters we don't know on the roster, including Ridley.
We know for sure that the Miis take up the random slot when customization is turned on, yes? Look at the css we saw from the leak. Why would they need to have Miis turn into the random slot unless they were strapped for space? What we saw was clearly not strapped for space. Miis could have easily fit into the spaces without any trouble. Hell, even all three Mii variants could have fit into the spaces we saw. If they are confined to swapping the random slot, they must be strapped for spaces, and thus the css must be filled to the brim.
When this was pointed out I was floored. I never thought of it but it makes perfect sense and it boosted my hype for there actually being 5 more we don't know, one of them hopefully being Ridley.

Don't dream, people. They won't show the full roster at PAX, there's no reason for it. We can MAYBE get a new character reveal as the event occurs, but don't count on it, even because it's just a pre-release demo.

Well after realizing the circumstances, I guess the thread is actually on topic, it just seemed as if all I've been reading was about PAX, the embargo, and the October 8th reveal, but meh, I guess we're actually fine.
