They represent real world animals, just in a cartoony style. Its a whole another level beyond the sentient and powerful animal cast in Smash or the fantasy enemies in Nintendo games.

And quite honestly guys, discussing the veracity of the leak seems far more on topic to me than 90% of the stuff that happens around here

Half of the cast are animals, and each to a different degree.
I understand your point, that they are from a game where they were animals- but how many steps removed is that, exactly?

If they are made cartoonish and fun, it is pretty irrelevant, in a game like smash, with cartoon violence.

Also for Ridleys' taunt I agree that the Baby Metroid in the capsule should be used in some way shape or form.

The longer we wait for this PotD, the more I'm sensing imminent disappointment. Not like... Ridley deconfirmation bad. They wouldn't deconfirm both Ridley and Girahim in the same week, let alone back to back, haha.

Yeah, like that time he announced cuccos as items, which was later than this is taking. Not that I don't love the idea of having them in game, but it wasn't worth waiting to find out about.

Happy to see a mention of music, since Sakurai's said barely anything about it to this point. Hopefully there's a lot of Metroid songs! We already know that Ridley's theme is in the game, in the Other M version at the very least!
