Well obviously we are not getting ridley on the nes metroid anniversary tomorrow but alteast we know without a doubt when theres game specific directs, there is usually more than 1 i would not be surprise if smash 4 got a sequel from aprils smash direct, in august.

Um, no, that only applies to major games. Smash Bros. and Pokemon are probably the only games capable of getting two game-specific Directs. Most games only have one game-specific Direct.


We're definitely not getting Ridley on the Metroid anniversary, and honestly, I'm not sure if we're getting Ridley this month at all anymore. I'm going to bet that the next trailer will either be a DK trailer or a new franchise trailer (Isaac). Ridley will probably be announced in the game's release trailer. That's my bet. Save the best for last.

Well, without any of my intense math skills, I'm going to guess that Ganondorf in TP is 2 Links tall and in Brawl he's about 1.5 Links tall.
Talk about resizing...

Speaking of resizing, why do people always shrug off Ganondorf and the Pokemon when it comes to resizing Ridley debates? Greninja is shorter than Lucario in Smash, but Greninja is a foot taller in Pokemon (via the Pokedex). The Ganondorf proof is right up there.

A mod could have deleted a post a bit back, that always screws with the order and sends you to a different post on the same page. If not, I was having the same problem yesterday, it'll patch itself up? It did for me...

then I click the Alerts button and it always says only;
"AndreaAC has attached a file to the Ridley Thread."
And when I click it the most recent post is the one with me talking about Ridley's Spriteart.

I literally have to just wait in the chat box typing random stuff until it says "There are posts you haven't seen yet" just to see a fraction of the most recent posts, and when I try and refresh the page or click the link to see the other ones past the spriteart talk, it just does the whole shinanigan again where the spriteart talk is still the most recent, meaning it was pure luck I saw this post to reply to it.
I dunno what to do.
Help plz.

Release trailers come when the game is released. Sakurai would probably go and put up a new trailer showing off the game upon release, and Ridley will be revealed in it. That's what I'm betting on at this point. One new trailer coming within the next few weeks, one in a Smash Direct, and Ridley in the release trailer.

Plus making him so makes Sakurai an even bigger troll for never addressing Ridley's role at all, creating the largest Challenger Approaching surprise ever. I expect Nintendo and Sakurai to waste great opportunities for reveals given what they have done so far (no Pac during the invitational? Or someone like K. Rool or Ridley at E3?) I really think we won't know what he is until Japan gets their hands on the game.

I am starting to get a bit worried that Sakurai might reveal Ridley to be a boss tomorrow. I know I am just get worried for no reason, and if we do get anything Metroid its probably going to be a 3ds stage or a trophy of one of the hunters or something.

What I find suspicious is that Corocoro will give info on Smash 3DS on the 12th. One day before GamesCon which according to tradition, the first day (13th) of the event will only be open to business companies and news media. It just seems perfectly spaced out.

Actually there's 6 dates (with America and japan) that have a metroid game anniversary...tomorrow being the Japan release and the 15th for na (since those are the nes metroid releases so that's 2) in na August 26th marks metroid 2 anniversary. August 31st is other m...for na. August 27th is metroid prime 3 for na. And last the whole triolgy pack came out August 24th.

If Ridley makes it into Smash Bros as a playable character, I'm certain the internet will explode. And I'll probably have to stay off it for a while because of the flame wars...

Regardless, seeing all these theories about Ridley during the Direct, it's leading me to support Ridley. And given that Ridley is such an important character in the Metroid series, (Given that Dark Samus is an Assist Trophy, and that apart from Adam Malkovitch or Anthony Higgs, there really aren't that many characters that are all that pivotal to Other M) so I guess for now, I'm sorta 50/50 with Ridley in Smash Bros. But I'm glad that you're all so supportive for him in Smash Bros.

It's not if they care or not. It's that newcomer and veteran reveals all line up with anniversaries and not even once a new game coming out.

Well, Ridley is my most wanted newcomer and I've been wanting him since Melee. Just like you, I want to believe this suffering will end soon with an August reveal, but I've learned to not try to predict Sakurai. The guy just cannot be predictable in the slightest. I do feel that he is 100% playable this time, it just does not make any sense to tease him if he is nothing but a hazard. And I know Sakurai knows about what we think about the April Direct. Why has he yet to clarify what Ridley is, knowing the "confusion" the shadow caused?

Kay, quick Brawl Ridley image dump (apologize in advance for the crappy tablet quality, my desktop doesn't read SD cards for some reason)~

But first-

Funny how people say that Ridley in Brawl is a Dynablade knock off and treat it like a bad thing.

When in reality Ridley only shares one or two moves with Dyna (the dragoon style swoop and the whole flying around), who is actually able to spit fire in her fight; which means that if Ridley's fight was a full homage to Dynablade's, it would actually make sense.

THANK YOU. I love Super Star/Ultra to death, including the bosses. I myself am guilty of using Dyna Blade as a "lazy" way to insult/get the point across that they forgot to make Ridley do THE ONE THING HE'S ALWAYS DONE but that's not to say I wouldn't have infinitely loved/preferred Dyna Blade herself in all her detailed glory.

Also realize I'm beyond late on the debate, but this alone makes me think he's not mindless even in Smash.

Lastly, Ridley used Earthquake.

Now onto business: Ridley vs Samus (under the effects of a Super Mushroom)

Both spread out are about the same height, with Ridley's head/wings/tail obviously edging her out in overall size. Assuming he'd be quadrupedal/crouching while on the ground, he'd often seem smaller in the same way Bowser does when he retracts into his shell.

This one took forever because the lighting was weird, but hot damn did I love how it came out (I swear the hand-holding was completely by accident). Give him Other M/Roidley's limbs/appendages, incorporate Hybridley's features, and I think it'd be absolutely perfect.

Bonus one with Yoshi because why not. (I actually didn't notice he was Giant in this shot at first, lol)

Anyway back to editing.

Why on Earth would Sakurai/Nintendo do something like that?

And as much as I would like to see the matter of which DK newcomer is getting in (if we're getting one at all), I have a feeling that whoever it is will be straight-up unlockable material.

Considering that Ridley has been teased for this long, I'd be preeeetttyyy annoyed if they remained hush-hush until the 3DS version's release.
