???????????????????????????????????
oh god that is adorable

Also, a little trailer idea thing:
Plains, with a few trees scattered around. Strong winds make the grass flutter, and the skies are painted black with thunderclouds. Mario backflips into view, as a familiar reptilian foot stomps in front of the camera. Bowser roars, and charges towards Mario, who barely evades his grasp and fires some fireballs. Bowser quickly retracts into his shell to deflect the fireballs, emerges again, roars once more and charges out of view. In the distance, more figures can be seen fighting.
Ganondorf takes Link, Zelda and Toon Link on at the same time, expertly blocking all the attacks with his sword and fists. He unleashes a wave of dark magic that knocks them down. They quickly shake off the dust and run back, ready to battle some more. Once again, in the distance, familiar figures can be seen.
Kirby and Dedede, on top of a hill, both with their hammers drawn, each face crumpled with determination as they stare at each other. Kirby's hammer catches fire as he charges it up, while Dedede activates rocket mode. A moment of silence between them, save for the crackle of flames and the roaring of the jet engine. They charge.
All three groups can be seen fighting now, each a considerable distance from each other, as the camera floats over the left shoulder of a certain bounty hunter, sitting on a lone rock, her power armour deactivated. She watches the fights, but with her head resting in her hands she gives a rather bored impression.
Suddenly, a thundering noise is heard. Samus quickly looks around herself, then into the sky. The noise is heard again. Samus stands up, alert. The clouds light up. The flaming tendrils of plasma chase away the mists of water vapour as the space dragon falls downward. He lands with a loud slam on the ground, whipping up enough dust in the process to obscure all of his body but his glowing eyes. His wings fan the dust away in one powerful motion, and Ridley roars. Samus stares in shock as Ridley roars once more and claws his way towards her. Ridley then stops, and tilts his head expectantly. Samus's expression of shock slowly turns into a smile. She nods, and her power armour materializes around her. She starts running. Ridley roars once more, as the splash text appears. Ridley swoops in.

@ Phaazoid Phaazoid I give you a lot of credit for saying Ridley's playable on the PotD thread. Boss item? Ridley's quote was "boss characters appear on other stages, not just this one". Boss item=usable in-game item. Boss character=playable character by that logic.

As for villains:
1. Ridley
2. K Rool
3. Petey Piranha/King Boo (I doubt both would get in, and Mario already got a newcomer in Rosalina
4. Ghirahim (he'd have a unique moveset and he's NOT Ganon! Go figure.)
5. Galacta Knight and/or MK (I'd take both if that's possible)
6. Vaati from Minish Cap/Four Swords (another non-Ganon Zelda villain, he's a dark horse for sure. More likely to be a stage boss on the 3DS version)
Petey is my favorite mario character <3_<3 but he is pretty much impossible tier. Same for Black Shadow. Ridley has a great chance at least so he gets my full support! :D

It was just T.rex arms, not T.Rex heads for hands. Oh, and minor error - it is T.Rex, not T-rex. "Rex" part is kinda like "aegyptiacus" part of Spinosaurus name that is used like S. aegyptiacus. But that is not something anyone knows. Just for those who doesn`t knows...i am nerdy?
I know that Rex is T. Rex's species name, and that the genus name (in this case Tyrannosaurus) gets abbreviated with a dot. I just felt like being silly with Roidley's speech / that was a typo. I don't remember, I made that a long time ago.

Sakurai said there would be more boss characters other than Yellow Devil, and as he said this, he showed Ridley's shadow. Also, it couldn't be Meta-Ridley because Ridley's wing briefly flaps in front of the camera if you slow down the video enough. Anyways, I'm not trolling, I'm simply stating the facts.

The statement "There will be more bosses" isn't the same as "Ridley is a boss", besides we've proved that not only is the shadow's attack pattern unboss-like, but it also being cast from something around the height of Rosalina.

nice troll :) because sakurai only hinted but not confirmed him as stage hazard :) because why teased a boss and not showing him for month? when he directly say it in some picture of the day after something that was not really clear...like chrom and lucina

Darn he's right. I went back and watched the direct. Man, how did we go for all these 100s of pages and miss that? Guess Ridley is too boss for Smash.

I just thought it was interesting that Sakurai was throwing the word boss around so much. Makes you wonder if he considers things like Nabbit and Dark Emperor bosses.

More probably, since he actually said "Boss Galaga item", he meant the item was a boss character from Galaga, though (which it is).

Honestly it probably didn't mean anything, but if I'm not reading too far into every statement that Sakurai makes, I'm really bored at my internship xD

To be fair, if it's true that Dark Pit is a boss.....that would put a bit of concern for the arguments used against Ridley being a boss.
Dark Pit is literally the same size as Pit, so that would render the "too small to be a boss" argument obsolete.
Dark Pit would very likely not have the movement patterns of an SSE boss or Yellow Devil due to traversing among a large, complex stage while being a small, free-flying target. Which would render the "Ridley doesn't move like a boss" argument obsolete as well.

Think about that for a moment...

It's not too small to be a boss, it's too small to be a Ridley boss. Why resize Ridley to be playable size when he could just be a huge boss.

"Boss Galagas" exist within Galaga.

It's like how Petey Piranha is "Boss Pakkun" in Japanese.
Yeah, I figured it was something like that. It's just fun to make stupid Ridley confirmed posts on the front page xD

Yeah, but there's really no hard evidence for him being a boss right now. The only reasons people think there's a boss on that stage at all is that falsely translated "boss hp" thing, which could be referring to a breakable part of the stage for all we know.

There's as much evidence for Dark Pit being a boss as there is for Ridley being playable (or even being a boss himself).
As in, it's just speculation at this point based on what little information we know.

You are not wrong for stating the facts, and if you believe that Ridley is most likely a stage boss no one can fault you for it. But at the same time, there are also reasons to believe Ridley is playable. As people have said; it’s all outlined in the second post, you’ll see one of the bigger reasons people tend to believe Ridley will be playable is Sakurai’s lack of deconfirmation. You’ll notice in other cases of character inclusion ambiguity, Sakurai often goes on record to clarify the situation (a la Chrom or Takamaru) but with Ridley he has yet to do so. Hope that helps you understand where most of us Ridley guys are coming from.

He'd probably fly from predetermined point to predetermined point, just shooting arrows at people when he reaches these points, giving him a concrete boss-like pattern. Plus DP is naturally the height of a fighter, why downsize Ridley when the only reason he's big in the first place to make him easier to shoot while flying?

Ridley is small =X= argument
Ridley become smaller without any reasons if he is a boss = argument
And Ridley not moving like a boss will still not be obsolete because he moves slowly without doing anything and unlike Dark Pit, he wouldn`t have to chase players or have players chase him down. It will be easier to hit him than to hit Dark Pit. Ridley also jumps in air for no reasons.

My younger sibling got into Minecraft and started watching Skydoesminecraft.

I played the game with him once and I asked him for gold.

He said "What Gold? THERES ONLY BUDDER!"

I slapped him.

That word isn't being used in this household any longer.

I asked my brother for gold and he erected the tower of pimps. No, really. :awesome:

Question: what did Ridley say when he wasn't included in Smash?
Answer: "Norfair!"
:joyful:
I love you.

This could literally mean nothing, though. Check the shadow's choppy animation and the no attacks it makes in eleven seconds. No boss in history (outside of RPG bosses) does this.

As others have mentioned, check the second post. If it doesn't persuade you, that's fine, but it's better to know both sides before charging in. If there wasn't at least decent basis for us thinking he's playable, the thread wouldn't have reached 1326 pages and dwarfed all other support threads, would it? The April Direct was around page 400.

It was considered. Assuming Pitoo is a boss AND the shadow analysis is still correct, then it would still not be completely detrimental to his chances. Ridley shouldn't need to be scaled down for a stage hazard role, the stage is pretty large and the ceiling seems to be normal. It makes sense for Dark Pit to remain in an identical size to OG Pit.
The "not-AI-controlled" disproval depends entirely on how Dark Pit behaves and what he actually does, if he acts like a PC or even a CPU fighter, then yeah it would hurt, if he acts like an AT, then it wouldnt disprove anything.

Personally I dont see Ridley's movement as a PC btw, he looks like AI to me.

I guess I'm just still on the side that we need to see Ridley himself to determine size, since I don't trust the shadow speculation.

I've always supported Ridley and other characters, didn't really look indepth to them being in. Just kind of wanted them.
Then that fateful day of August 20th came by. I was surrounded by a heavenly shrowd of blankets while checking the pic of the day on Miiverse that night. That infamous Pyrosphere picture solidified my ideas that Ridley was in. Around April the direct came about and I saw the shadow. I don't remember the exact feelings but I believed he was still in, I searched everywhere to find concrete evidence of him being there. And that led me here, I lurked here for a week then joined in with my first words on Smash boards being something along the lines of "I've been stalking this thread".

While not trusting it is understandable, it's at least accurate enough to determine that Ridley isn't as big as he usually is. It does hold some merit, even if I don't trust it myself.

I love him.

I've been part of the RT community since 2004. Great kid you got there.
Oh, him? I hate him. Sibling relationships under one roof, yadda yadda yadda. You beat me, though. I got into it around at least half a decade after you. Retro Con0rrrr!

That ain't on-topic tho, so while I'll say "you have awesome taste" I'll also say "Slowbeef/Diabetus Ridley OP".

I wholeheartedly agree here, but
There's as much evidence for Dark Pit being a boss as there is for Ridley being playable (or even being a boss himself).
As in, it's just speculation at this point based on what little information we know.
Here, we do have hard evidence there is a model for Ridley in the game, and we don't for Dark Pit. So there is some difference in evidence. I agree that we have no idea what Ridley's model is for, but I think it's safe to guess at this point that he's either a boss or playable.

Though at the same time, given that the stage itself isn't of the same proportion to Samus (since Smash rarely keeps stages to scale), if Ridley is "smaller" than usual, it could just be that he's still proportional to the stage while Samus is the anomaly.
That's part of why I feel it'd be better to wait and see.

I thought that the picture was alluding to him as a playable character that "fateful" day, so it did not even bother me.
