Ever since I saw Ridley in the opening for Melee I've been a huge supporter of him in Smash and I think he'd make an amazing addition. I wish I had the confidence that the rest of you have for his inclusion though. I agree it's a little weird how long this has dragged out, as well as the nature of the reveal... But I just can't conjure up the confidence that you guys have for his inclusion. I've seen all the evidence from both sides of the fence, and I just can't decide whether I want to keep confident and have my hopes destroyed for a third time or simply accept that I don't think he will be playable and be bouncing off the walls if he actually does end up being playable.

I got Little Mac. I got Megaman. I got Villager. Ridley's the last on my list, and I would turn into a living pile of hype if he were to be revealed. I will tell you guys to stay strong for those of us who aren't quite as confident as you, because if everybody thinks the same way I do, then by the time Smash 5 rolls around we won't have anyone who wants him and it won't matter anymore.

Eh, people will want him in the next Smash, they'll just be older. Although I don't know a lot of younger people who are into the Metroid series, at least from what I know.

I honestly just can't believe there are people who don't want him in Smash. Like, he's a big purple space dragon. C'mon guys.

Honestly I've been experiencing a bit of internal conflict myself. I see him best fit as a boss, and evidence strongly hints he will be a boss, but then again, a freaking purple space dragon man. He'd have to be re-proportioned appropriately and specifically for the game though.

I kinda see it as "Oh Duon/Galleom/Master Hand/Rayquaza/Kraid/Gooper Blooper/Argorok could work, he could just be resized." It's like yeah, that'd be awesome, but that'd be ridiculous. Ridley's varying forms and iterations makes him a tad more viable than all the baddies I listed two sentences back, however.

I think he makes an excellent boss and definitely has potential to make an excellent playable character too. If he's a boss, at least the thought of him being able to KO Ganondorf and Bowser with ease can make me happy.

Yeah he definitely has potential to be a great boss and character. If he's a boss I think that he'll be done right, regardless of people's fear of him potentially being a "punching bag" after seeing a mere few seconds of a clip.

A Ridley stage boss done right, for me, would be a boss that swoops in every once in a while to absolutely rip people apart. He would use his tail, shoot fireballs, grab people, and then take them with him as he flies back to his hole, screen KO-ing them in the process. He wouldn't be easily defeated in one appearance.

Not all anime watchers want Ridley to turn into some emo anime chick; just saying. ..
Also Ridley as a boss will be cool in sure, but I want him playable first and foremost

I don't support the idea, but that is an awesome name, and kind of a pun. :D We need a Ridley alt costume, with a plant theme, like he flew into a rose bush, covered in spikes. He has thick scales, so he will be fine, don't worry.

It would be pleasing if the person who provided Davey Jones's voice (Pirates of the Carribean) voiced Ridley. However, it could be anyone. I realized recently how I would like this voice. I did not have an idea for who I wanted when I first asked this question. Anyway, I just realized Davey Jones and Ridley are both pirates.

I think we can all agree that Ridley should have his voice from Zero Mission.

well if ridley ends up being unplayable, he wont need a voice...

here is a question... if ridley is playable, what would his taunts be?

Up Taunt: Roar, clench fists, spread wings
Side Taunt: Start charging up a fireball in his mouth, then stop
Down Taunt: Brings a capsule holding the Baby out of hammerspace, sways it back and forth, then puts it away

It's not that I don't think Jiggles is threatening, it's just that she just doesn't look like a fighter (and I mean that in the sense that Ridley wouldn't consider Jiggles as a threat)

oh and also, thanks for clearing that up Andrea, I was pretty curious

Why make Ridley a boss when there are so many other alternatives to choose from, like Mother Brain, Queen Metroid, Kraid, Phantoon, Omega Metroid, Nightmare, or even Draygon?

That's my question to those people who think he's the best boss rep.
