Important The Ridley for SSB4 Thread - End of an Era

The main problem is at this point... there's really nothing to talk about regarding Ridley that hasn't been talked about already. All of the arguments have been discussed over and over.

Yay 1,000 pages, now Ridley fans, PLEASE don't spam the topic to get it locked again.


I still think Ridley is playable. I also think K. Rool has a really good chance at being playable, too. I'm currently betting that Ridley will probably be shown off in August as that's the ideal time to show him. (K. Rool might be teased, but will be saved as a secret unlockable.)

I do believe the Gematsu leak is legit, but I think it was outdated. Ridley probably was planned to be a secret unlockable at one time, but then Sakurai decided to tease the hell out of Ridley instead and the remaining Gematsu newcomers are now secret unlockables instead. But that's just my theory.


So, yeah, Ridley survives yet another week.

What are your thoughts on that? I know you guys talked about air grabs and stuff on occasion. I think it'd make him stand out from the crowd.

I don't think Ridley should be able to grab STRAIGHT out of the air, but I do think some of his special attacks might allow him to grab opponents and throw them in the air. The idea of an air "Grappler" type of character sounds good. When Ridley's on the ground, his grabs are his greatest advantage.

Meltdowns will be huge no matter what character gets deconfirmed. Ridley's fans would be the most upset about the lack of playable Ridley (if that happens) among the users at Smash Boards, well in my opinion at least.

Ridley could grab them with his hands/talons whilst in the air.

I don't recall any special air grabs that can only be down withing a second's fraction.

Taking a break from what he usually does, Ridley spectates a Smash Bros match of Mario and Link vs Bowser and Ganon. The pathetic low tiers lost to their nemesis, and Ridley smugly looked on, knowing that when he takes to the battlefield, he will not lose to his archrival...

If its an ACTUAL grab we're talking about here, I'd say Ridley would hover in the air. He does have unlimited flight normally, anyway. I still don't think Ridley would get an air grab even if he is playable, if anything, he'd have a special attack that could grab opponents and he'd then be able to throw them or slam them into the ground.

I'm not sure. I am thinking there's a high chance Ridley will be officially announced in August, at least, so hopefully that turns out well and we'll have a Ridley subforum in about a month and a half. It also means Ridley was teased on and off for a year straight. :D

We must feed it the information it needs. Then it will do its part and hack into EAD Tokyo where Sakurai's consciousness is stored. There it will implant the idea, and Sakurai will be at our control. However, there is always the chance that it could go rogue, cutting Captain Falcon from the roster, therefore starting a long and dreadful nuclear war, killing billions of people, and all because we wanted our favourite villain in a crossover fighter video game the vast majority of the world has never heard of.

I would personally want to see them get experimental with Ridley, and have him be "The rule breaker" character in that he grabs in the air, as well as maybe have some of his aerials double have a smash attack-esk charged option.

But not only suck, but I heard this game introduces some kind of lag when you land. What if Ridley had increased lag

Oh, ok, well. since this is going to be a serious thing, I would not involve poor Rosie in it, and knowing the effects of Phazon, it would not just kill her, but banish her from existance as well. =u= oh, and I forgot to mention all this time...in one of the comics I did with Ridley and Rayquaza, when Rids said "I barely was able to escape the prison where he resides" I was talking about the Pyrosphere...so they actually have literally been traped inside that place all this time. :/ I can't draw backgrounds yet.

Nah, I'm pretty sure Rosie's dress would just magically absorb all of Phazon's negative effects without affecting her herself like Samus's suit did when the Omega Pirate fell on top of her; then her attire would be a different kind of blue, as her and Ridley become Phazon soulmates or something; a Phazon bond that not even Dark Samus could comprehend!

Nice image, @Angelglory...but i would prefer it to be 300% Ridley instead of just 1/3 Ridley...but that is just me.

And i am against idea of Ridley being as bad on the ground as Little Mac is bad in the air. At least Brawl Bowser bad would be perfect because Ridley was shown to be pretty fast on the ground in games where he was on the ground for a part of the battle. He still has end lag and start lag (they are called so, right?) in those games...
