Newcomers: Zelda, Fox, Pit

Unfortunately, still have to neglect Xenoblade by circumstance. Part of me wanted to just fill out the remaining series from Smash 64, but I thought it'd be more interesting to spread it out a bit. The Triforce trio is complete and Star Fox / Kid Icarus are here, with one character from each game from 64 to Brawl. I put aside like 10 characters who I had in serious consideration so I hope I'll be able to bring the rest over soon too. Could have thrown Yoshi on here but I wanted to take some priority off the Marioverse for a moment.

Newcomers: Peach, Ganondorf, King Dedede

A second Zelda character should have been here already. Ganondorf would likely take after his TOTK appearance. I considered Zelda, but felt like another princess was higher priority.

Peach is finally here. I didn’t go with her last round as to not over represent the Mario series. But now she’s here.

I considered including some more dormant characters like Fox or Captain Falcon, or another Pokémon such as Charizard, but realised Kirby also should have a second character. Dedede is here too.

Have less to say about these over the past couple rounds, kinda just judging off who has the least glaring omissions. Anyone still missing Peach is standing out a little bit at this phase, teetered on voting darkvortex as well but I'd prefer Luigi be there also.

The third party choices have admittedly been a bit distracting for me, there are some that I don't especially agree with being that high a priority and it's tainting the rest of the roster a little bit. Would rather be keeping it simple with a roster this small, if I was under full control I probably wouldn't have this many third party characters yet at all. So I'm drawn toward some of the rosters boiling it down to the essentials.

With only three newcomers, and 28 characters total, I figured it would be best to bulk up some series here. Pokémon is finally on three fighters, with Greninja joining the roster. Legends Z-A certainly helped his chances of getting here.

Ridley is one of the most popular fan picks, and I’m cool with him being here. It also gives Metroid another character, which shouldn’t just rest on one character.

Isabelle also has joined the roster. Animal Crossing deserves the second face here.

Although there some obvious omissions such as Zelda, Charizard, or Meta Knight, and newcomers that may join later on, I intend on mending now that the foundation is almost done.

Newcomers: Ridley, Shulk, Greninja

At long last, I get to add Shulk. I briefly considered Wii Fit or Little Mac, but Xenoblade is the most significant series of the bunch to add right now. Mac is someone I really want to add sooner than later but I can hold off for a bit.

My other two choices seem to be par for the course, wish I could be more innovative but I think it’s the right way to go. Ridley and Greninja give major series an additional character. I feel Ridley is the next step for your rivals after Bowser / Ganon / Dedede / Mewtwo are accounted for. And then Greninja adds a more modern flair to the Pokemon lineup and a pretty fresh moveset to boot.

I considered Robin to give us a mage archetype, but he got snubbed… also wondering if that would feel like too much Awakening, but I think it’d be fine for now. Could have thrown Ryu in there too so I can round out Street Fighter, and Mega Man should probably be here too, but I don’t want to prioritize third parties right now. I could have chosen to be a bit more bold here but I just think these were the right decisions to make.

Question while we’re at it, does Pyra / Mythra count for two characters? It said that in the original OP but I wasn’t paying attention whether or not that applied this time.
