Hey everyone, it's Meta-Kirby. Obviously we have gone through some turbulent times in the past and now with feuds and community dispersion. As of late, the Poke Center community has become less active and has lost a 2nd moderator in Jesiah.

What we, as the community of the PC regulars, need to think about is how we can bring this community together and bring in more activity or stimulate more discussions.

The Facts:
-Competitive Battling and Pokemon Spriting make up the majority of the regular community activities.
-New game discussion, game help threads, and trade threads make up the small minority of the remaining discussions.
-Tournaments for both aspects (Battling and Spriting) have produced mixed results due to community empowerment or community absence and lack of interest (1/1 Spriting Tournaments have Failed, 1/2 Battling Tournaments has succeeded).
-Strategy Pokedex was the last major project that the Competitive Battlers had, and the Spriting School is the last major moderator-supported Spriting project.
-As of late, the most active thread has been the HeartGold/SoulSilver Thread.

Things to Consider:
-New Project Headed by Moderator.....yes, that's not plural anymore T_T.
-Ideas for Community Activism and Togetherness?
-Problems within the community?
-Ideas to draw new PC regulars?

Well, I think this is a good step in the right direction, seeing as of late, the CPS thread has seen a decline...and that was basically the social thread.

Whatever though. Right now, the only thing that keeps me returning to this board is the spriting school, even though it is kinda in suspension. Spriting is fun and cool enough for me to take a look around here every now and then. That's just me though.

I am definitely in the same boat here.

I mean, I love playing the games, and I'll even Shoddy around a bit if I get bored...but I'm the kind of guy who likes to use Pokemon that I like, rather than those that are competitively good, so competitive battling will never really get me hooked. I am more into the stories/anime/spriting side of it.

So yeah, I am waiting for the Spriting School to kick up again.

Although I would probably enter an NU tourney if it was held, just so I could use favourites...

We don't even really explore Pokemon Contests anymore, now do we... it seems that everyone is obsessed with how to win as quickly and clearcutly as possible, trampling everyone else over to do so. Humans are all selfish as heck... if it's not letting you beat other people mercelesly, it's not good enough...

For the Sprite side of things, whether in the Sprite School or not, there should be an "Invent your own Pokemon" Contest...with movepools, stats and all that jazz...sprites if you can as well.

Hm...
Not much else going on here though...
Fanfic contest? But that might belong in Creative Minds....
Maybe its just a matter of keeping it fresh here and being warm and welcome to new members.....what else can we do?

HG/SS might liven things up closer to release date.

Edit: Also, surprisingly little talk about the anime occurs...

Pokemon Roleplays on PokeCommunity.com seem to be popular.
And are there any Shoddy-Type programs for the TCG?

Edit2: Trivia thread? Make a game of it? Or guess that Pokemon, kind of in the same format as the next SBR Character Summary... clues and stuff... tbh I am just throwing randomness into the crowd..

Holy ****, Pokemon roleplay? I'd join in on that. Guaranteed. I was in a guild for a Pokemon RP on Gaia (lol), but I quit after I got to the point where I was dishing out missions (because that was the main way to do things and get Pokemon) that were ten to twenty pages long because that was the high standard I set for myself early on in my 'career' there.

Anyway, I'm down for that idea. As long as we have enough people who would consistently post in it, it could really work. As for the rest, it sounds like they would end up being more short term, and people would probably lose interest eventually. I like them though. I would definitely join in on it all if it was introduced, especially the 'Invent Your Own Pokemon' contest. That sounds fun.

And NU tourney is beast. 'Nuff said.

Stamping your library books.
I just want to say, if anyone has any ideas for a new tournament, community project, or anything, please send me a PM! I'd love to help out the PC regulars any way I can.

A few members and I have discussed making a Pokemon RPG thread (maybe even a subforum, eventually), but I was originally against the idea because I wasn't sure there'd be much interest. Now I see I'm wrong.

'Invent Your Own Pokemon'...? Genious.

NU tourney? **** yeah.

Yeah RPG definitely lends itself to a sub-forum, or a completely clogged up main forum..:)

Edit:

about the Invent a Pokemon things... or just sarcastic? Maybe just throw it in as an end challenge in Spriting School.

A Pokemon text adventure game would be awesome.

How about we work on setting up an in person pokemon tournament scene? Every other competitive game has it. And Nintendo sucks at running tournaments.

Meh, one mod is fine to handle the PC so jesiah leaving won't really have much effect.

NU tourney sounds amazing. I love NU :D

RPG also sounds really cool and I'd love me some create a pokemon.

How about we have a Next gen thread like before? I'm sure the New PC would love it and we could create our own map of a region create new pokemon in a civilized manner (like which pokemon should get evo and basic ideas for new pokemon). Similar to the CAP project on shoddy except without the whole "We take 6 months to make one pokemon" thing.

I have noticed that the Strategy Pokedex has basically come to a standstill.
Is this due to Jessiah's absence, or just a lack of interest for the project?

I'd be willing to participate here more if any fun threads show up, as I enjoy Pokemon, but I don't really care for the competitive scene (although I have now become somewhat knowledgeable of it XD).

Lack of interest. While it's possibly also Jesiah's absence, since the question arose of why we are actually doing it, we... just don't do anything anymore.

Yeah, it's just a lack of interest. Any Pokemon Researcher can theoretically post in there if they want to, they just haven't.

Also, in regards to TCPS, it has seen a decline as of late...but activity should rise a ton in there by next week. Don't worry, it isn't dead.

NU tournament.

'Nuff said.
Needs more Uber tournaments. =P

But over all, I don't think there's enough members that's into Pokemon competitive wise, I know some members here that play Pokemon, is not too into the game if you know what I mean.

That's one of the problems with a real-life tournament. Nintendo's tournament got a huge turnout because they advertised it a lot and because it's an "official" tournament (even if it's comparable to Clash of the Titans...). If SWF had a tournament, we'd have to advertise on other forums and stuff to get enough people to make it worth hosting.

@RPG idea: I tried to do a Pokemon Text RPG in dGames a while ago and it didn't work out all that well. Not to say that the idea of making a Pokemon RPG-type game is bad, but it'll definitely be hard.

Of course, I'd gladly work on a guide for Pokemon Red/Blue with somebody. I think that would be fun.
