The Earth spins a little faster since Friday, after the violent shaking in Japan would cause many changes in our planet. As happened with the earthquake in Chile last year, the tremor returned to shorten the day and leaned a bit more so the Earth's axis.

Not that we're going to notice the difference: the cut is 1.8 millionths of a second (which adds 3 millionths of a second if we add the earthquake last year).
Maybe we won't notice the difference on short term, but in long terms there's a chance it could be, because with that almost unnoticeable aceleration at first it'd be imposible to the human perseption.

I think introductions is a great first topic for the social thread; I hardly know anyone here. I'll post mine when I'm not in a hurry.

Approximately every 18 years as the moon is closer to Earth, this approach will be next Saturday, when the moon is at about 356 thousand kilometers of our planet and create what scientists call the phenomenon of supermoon. "

On Saturday night March 19 we'll be able to see the satellite, is 14% larger than normal and a 30% higher gloss than usual, reaching close to 356 thousand kilometers from the Earth.

This event has been listed as historic because this time the satellite closer to Earth as it has not done since 1992.

-Berenice Andrés Jaimes.-
The supermoon wreaks havoc on our planet, as can be major storms, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and other natural disasters, which leads to think that what happened in Japan is related somehow.

And of course, I shoulden't even mention (as we all know) the unusual increase that'd be in the tide level.

Oh cool. You just sounded young that's all. I'll be interested to see what you have to contribute to the debates.

I just wanted to make sure I didn't come off as a creep befriending a 12 year old girl.

Hi guys. Maybe this is the wrong place for this, but I really feel like I've gotten to know you over the past couple of weeks. I really feel like we've become... brothers, of a sort. I'm the douchey brother. I fully admit that now. I just wanted to let you know that I found Jesus this morning, and that I realize the error of my ways. I've hurt you guys, and more importantly, I've hurt myself. I'm ready and willing to turn over a new leaf, to crush my latent homophobia, and to love every single goddamn thing under the sun.

I love you guys.

I love Super Smash Bros.

I love life!

I really don't mean to push my new religion in your guys' faces. The point is my new, loving outlook on life, not the specifics of my spiritual renewal.

I am, however, ready to share the details of my epiphany with any of you who may be feeling angry and alone in this world, as I was until recently.

isn't it OBVIOUS? battlecow has finally seen the light! you should be encouraging him, helping him along, instead of repressing his newfound faith. Shame on you Tery.

This thread be dead. Why bump?
I'm sorry, it's just that I didn't think a social thread could ever really be "dead" or "bumped"- also the latest post was like 3 days ago and it was still on the first page. So, I didn't think of it as a "bump."

Unless you were referring to Emmanuel's post? In which case, I would say that we need the social thread for the small stuff- even if it hasn't been posted in for a while.
