Sakurai with yet another epic win. While I personally will probably not use this mode, and just continue to do rotations the old fashioned way, this update reminds us how in depth and how much stuff Brawl truly has.

Another great update. Epic win.
DrClaw... are you serious?

Anyway, yeah, most people didn't use it, but it's there again!

The menu's the best part of the update, though. Time to update my prototype "menu".

I'll be using this mode all the time. It's a nice touch for those of us who invite groups of friends/cousins over for party games.

He really did think of everything. If it weren't for this genius mode, how could 5 or more people ever possibly find a way to take turns playing?
How could five or more people ever possibly find a way to hold a tournament without tournament mode? Probably without breaking a sweat, and yet I'm sure you've used that facet of Melee more than a few times, right?

Why does anyone think this update is good? All it tells you to do is switch controllers. Saving the names isn't that important cause you could just change your name on the character select screen. Those people will have to choose characters...

Think!! People will have personal controls saved to their names! Do you want to have to change names/controls every single time someone else wants to play??

There was a "Loser out, Winner out" feature in the Tournament mode, but I never used it, cause I didn't have numerous Melee friends.
This isn't really the same thing. This is more for regular Brawl matches, not tournaments. If you got 5+ buddies hanging out playing Smash all night or something, I can see this mode coming in very handy. I personally like the update a lot, and I'll use it fairly often.

Plus, you know how it gets when you're Smashing with friends. Pizzas going left and right, everyone is drinking, probably got some people watching or just hanging out with you. It can be hard to keep track of the order when you're a little drunk and more worried about grabbing a slice of pepperoni and sausage, while chit-chatting with the ladies hanging out in the back. This is how Smash works with my friends, anyway...

At least its new people. Stop b!tching so much. I'm tired of it.

I guess it's an okay update. It's a neat feature I've never seen in games like this, but when I think about it, we've been playing with rules like this for years. Loser out, and all of that. We didn't really need it to go all digital with lists and names and all that. But, it's not horrible, at least we get the option. Still, Sakurai... give us some stages and characters, dude. It's been a loooong time.

This post reeks of blind fantacisim. If there's something in the game you will not use due to doing it the old fashioned way, why would you possibly commend the update? Many people echo the sentiment that it's unneccesary and you agree that you will not use it, yet you praise it for having "depth".

All this mode does is insult the intelligence of everyone who's already doing "winner out" or "loser out" by themselves. Seriously, grabbing a controller and clicking your name back from another one is not hard or time consuming, and you could do that on normal Brawl mode.

It seems like you would praise Sakurai for punching you in the face, just because he deemed you worthy enough to punch in the face. Calling this update "epic win" is one of the most gross overstatements I've ever seen about an update.

I just realized that some people don't understand just how intelligent this mode is.

Let's say I've got 2 GCN controllers and two Classic controllers. I personally prefer the analog stick placement on the GCN pad, so I would prefer to use that one. But, what if it's my turn, and the person who got eliminated was using a Classic controller?

I would have to ask a person holding a GCN controller if I could use it... Let's say they said no. I'd have to ask the other person. Maybe they say no, too.

Now, where am I? Always screwed. But, let's say we get to claim controllers in an ordered fashion. Notice how player one, who is determined by the mode's ordering ability, gets to pick their controller first. Then player 2, etc. Since it switches people out to occupy different spots, there will always be a perfectly fair order to who gets to pick their controllers first.

It's not talking about button configurations. It's talking about the actual controllers you're using. 4 control schemes, remember? Not everyone has 4 of the same kind of controller.

Yeah, I thought about that, too. We all usually change characters from round to round. If you can't do that...it's kind of a pain.

This actually is a good update if you play with 6 or more people at once like I usually do. Because of customized control settings I fully expect not everyone to use the same settings so this update shows that controllers don't have to be reprogrammed when you change players. Great feature, Sakurai.

Anyone else notice there were faces associated with the names?
I'm pretty sure you can select a character face/mii/series icon and maybe other stuff to use as a profile avatar.

in the endless loser out tournament mode in melee, you changed your character by way of left and right arrows and a small picture+name box. you could even choose random by pressing L+R and get a ditto face to go with it.

Yeah or at least some other Old Stage update.

It feels like Sakurai is building up to something good.
Last few weeks were kinda wack but nearing the end of last week and this week seems like Updates get better.

Like it
Love it
Gotta Have It
__________________________________________________
-Events was pretty cool to hear about but still on the "Yeah we know, duh" side.

-Melee Stages was an eye opener, now we know that old stages are coming back for sure. And we can hope/talk about which stages we would like to see.

-Friend List I thought was cool to finaly see what it would look like and how to go about doing it .

-Returning Pokémon... ok well its a "Duh, We Know" again and kinda felt dumb, imo. Again, was cool to hear but I didnt need an update for it when we could of had something else.

-The Battle for the Smash Ball has to be one of my fav updates of last week cause it finaly answered one of the big questions, "Can we please turn off Smash Balls if we want just a Normal Match?!?" But also brought back the other question, "Ok so you can turn off Smash Balls, does that mean you cant play as Zero Suit Samus if they are off??? And will she be a character you can choose because of this update??"

-X: Tunnel Scene, also pretty cool. Gave us another opportunity to wonder and speculate about which Songs will be in Brawl? "Songs and title themes other then those of the characters in Brawl!? Nice! Can I get some Tetris music with my PictoChat?"

-King Dedede: Final Smash, alright sure I guess we cant have a perfect build up of awesomeness, lets throw in a Final Smash and get another one out of the way so we can get back to the real updates. (personaly i feel we should have gotten an update saying "Final Smash! -and list all the final smash attacks- instead of posting 'em one by one; he's just buying time:laugh:)

-With Anyone/Basic Brawl Alright back to the awesomeness! This was a really cool update for me, and you too I hope, cause it shows us interface of looking for random fights online will look, connection goodness and NO abrupt endings if someone craps out on you match. That was a really cool new feature, along with others that came with this update.

-Bonsly ok ok, so its still a Pokemon but at least its one that wasn't in Melee and you can interact with. Instead of just tossing a Poke Ball and seeing what happens, you actually have to pick up this thing and throw it (with skill) to hit someone and seeing how it doesnt go far you might need to be a little more strategic than just randomly throwing a Ball in your opponent's direction.

-Rotation. So maybe its not the best of updates we could have gotten, but I like it cause its something new! Something newly added to the games backbone. Just something else we can have to use or not. I love updates that give us more choices to use or not to use in this game.

Personaly I like the "Its in the game but you dont have to use it if you dont want to" updates. This is also why I want all Melee characters to return, cause whats wrong with having More characters, I dont see any cons for taking out stuff from this game.

The only thing I could think of when I read this title was...

ZOMG NEJI HYUGA!

And for that reason, I'm pretty happy with today's update. Really hoping for something Subspace related within the next three days, though.

I predict the update will be about how the game cuts to a "screen saver" if you put the controller down to long.

OMgz!!! useful next-gen feature!!!!!1one

Haha, maybe it will be a 4 Dimensional Screensaver. Then what =P

That supposed Coro Coro roster thing the 15th sounds like it'll make up for it if it's true.

They aren't going to release a character this week, that would lessen the impact of the Jan issue of Corocoro. Probably just more menus and items....
