He's a fairly big name online. Plus he grew up w/ Wario at the same time as DMG and I did, lol... so we're like... part of the Wario Quadruplets or something.

Funny how Bassem has so much Wario notoriety in Texas, and yet hardly anyone in Oklahoma has ever played him.
Lol. Its because I mainly play online and more texans play online and the only oklahoman i have played online is chuck nasty. I did play shade and maybe one or two other oklahomans at oh snap4...

Ya I need to get down to norman soon and attend a smashfest. Any news on when the next one is happening?

Edit: Yay for reading the same topic at the same time. Rock on wario quadruplet phantom.(Im assuming fiction is the 4th?)

Hopefully I can play with Lee some other time so I can really become the best Lucario player <_< Kid's sick.
Too bad Sars Pirate is the worst Lucario in Oklahoma.

what it do=bwamp
also interesting to note* that kyle is normally right. for as much as i know him.

Oh, and dr.mario guy=DMG, the only person in the world known to main airdodge.
i'll take your airdodge and raise you auto-sweetspot.

I think next time we have a large group of people over again I am going to walk around and observe matches more closely. Specifically I want to ask during the night that when people are playing each other to call me over so I can watch a set. I'm sure the top 3 I put up is no real surprise and I imagine the rest of you want to be able to distinguish yourselves out of the pack. If you do then I will actually seriously try to compile a list for the people I regularly see at our house.

This sounds like alot of work but I think it will actually be the same as every other smash fest. The only difference is just call me over during a few games when you play eachother. Besides that, I am not interested in seeing the people that are naturally paired together (KP/GMO, ZINTH/SHADE, CHRIS/HANSON/TOM) play as much. For whatever reason, theres a few matches I haven't seen much of that I want to know the results.

Specifically: Dan/Kevin, KP/Po, Tom/Bryan (I haven't seen this match before), Yawara(w/pit)/Grant, Hanson/Deezy (Marth and also Meta)

Yo Sars Pirate. Were you the Wario that teamed with Saif at the funhouse Tulsa Tourny in December? I'm the Lucario guy.

LOL, I haven't be the only #1 player in OK; it will be musical chairs between me, KOS-MOS, Chuck, and now probably Bassem for indubitably the next several months. Don't challenge me, bro!

Chuck, hurry up and beat me next month.

Hanson these look rather accurate. I'm glad you put yourself at 1, last night you seemed a bit apprehensive (which is honorable, I guess, but I don't think it'd be accurate). Bassem keep coming to tournies I'd like to see you play. I hear good things.

Lol, wow, I was forgetting about Chuck Nasty when I was going over what I thought the upper regions of the power rankings should look like last night. SORRY BRO!

The update looks pretty good to me.

The only thing I'll mention is that I looked purely at event performance of everyone from the last several months. I feel like it's much easier for people to increase their own visibility by how well they operate under the pressure of the actual competitive constraints of a tournament environment (AfroTastic is easily the best example of this). From there, I just looked at cross-county and cross-regional results of everyone, and made the necessary (however temporary) minor adjustments.

At the moment, the people who are constantly being cycled in and out of the Power Rankings are either very talented but produce inconsistent tournament standings, or just flat out don't attend at all. If where you stand on this list (or if you have a presence at all) is something that is important to you, I hope that those of you on the outer fringes of the list use this as an impetus to get better. Most of you beat my *** in friendlies all the time, but a chasm is starting to develop between how good you all actually are and how well you do under pressure, and this is something we need to focus on and close to the best of our ability.

Lastly, we are slowly but surely gaining notice from not only other states within our region, but other heavy-hitter regions as well. People are reading this list and watching you guys. They know who you are, and if they don't, they will seek out the information necessary to learn as much as they can about you, assuming they consider Oklahoma as a viable competitive threat. This is a new and exciting phenomenon for our state as far as Brawl is concerned, so let's not disappoint anyone, shall we?

This is right to me. I never really thought I should have been ranked, and this also gives the Tulsa players evidence that Norman's watching.

But with that said, I'm ready to make it back into the lime light. I'm shooting back for the top now.

Honestly, I don't think it will take you long (at all) to get there, but I think you should seriously pick a main and stick with it. You're too spread out.

Wario, Snake, Pit, Falco, Lucario, Falcon, Samus, etc.

Which is it? I honestly like your Wario and Pit a lot. And your Snake/Falco/Lucario, okay. I think picking one and seconding Falco might be a good idea just to have something for D3.

I could see you being good with any of those characters.

Also, where is Bwamp? No offense so some of you guys on the PR, but I think Bwamp deserves a spot unless he retired or something.

Po Pimpus approves of this list. I too feel the Kyle(Bwamp) is deserving of a spot, but he's only been to a few tourneys, only two of which were major regionals (OHSNAP 4 and Final Smash 5, respectfully). He'll get his time to shine, for sure.

One more thing. I WILL be ranked by April(maybe sooner), I promise. The day I get out of pools is going to be a frightening experience for whomever gets matched against me...

The Oklahoma Brawl power rankings are very competitive. Not only did we already have Hanson, Chris, Chuck Nasty and Tom vying for first place, but now we've added Bassem into that mix, and I and possibly others are creeping up as contenders as well. Moreover, there is a lot of talent that isn't represented on the list simply because we have so many good players. It is a very competitive list.

I'm actually really, really happy with this list. Oklahoma has so many heavy hitters in-state; it's just unfortunate that the majority of us are severely unvetted as far as out-of-state competition goes. I plan on having this updated on a monthly basis (or whenever major events occur), and here are a few things that will contribute:

  • more Norman/OKC players traveling to Tulsa for their monthlies
  • Norman/OKC setting up monthlies to alternate with Tulsa on a bi-weekly basis
  • Smash-fest tournaments with something actually on the line (i.e. $1 from everyone towards a small pot)
  • more participation in out-of-state events
  • revive Stillwater (?????)
Just a rough list of suggestions. Unfortunately, basing these rankings on friendly matches have become an increasingly unreliable way to "rank" you guys according to skill; many of your respective performances fluctuate, and a lot of you do significantly worse whenever you are immersed in a true, pressurized competitive environment. Unless one or many of you start ****** the **** out of everyone in said friendlies and no one can beat you throughout the course of an entire Smash-fest, I want to try and get away from using these fun yet insignificant victories as your ultimate measure of skill and success.

Bottom line is that we all need to band together, travel to more events and help each other out. Brawl is quickly approaching a new season of tournaments all around the country, and many of them promise national representation. We need to do our best to keep up with other regional trends, keep ****** Texas in their own events, and show the rest of the world that we are not pushovers. =)

If we want Norman monthlies, we actually have to sit down and talk about venues, contact possible venue owners, and then try to advertise and generate excitement. Smash has always been grassroots, and it's going to have to be us pulling together who will make this happen. With that said, venue ideas?

I kind of prefer to do it at the Union again on Saturdays. It shouldn't be terribly difficult now that football season's over with. Then we can charge attendants for a small venue fee to cover rental costs as well.

Hell, we could just not tell anyone, take it to Crossroads Lounge and post up there with five or six TVs. That would be just as manageable.

I'm actually thinking that there might be some places willing to do it without a venue fee. There are game places in Louisiana that offer this as a possibility, and I know there are comic shops around Norman that can do that. OU is convenient and all, but there are issues of, like, doing events without permission that will get us in trouble eventually especially if we do this every month, and I want to explore options that can limit down our prices as much as possible.

Also, Melee tourney as well?

Really, we could probably fit in Melee tournaments at places like Brett's apartment, since our Melee scene is maybe ten people right now, unless you had something else in mind.

Hopefully I get that job I applied for, I'm going to need the money for all these tournaments.
