If Mega Man isn't in, he isn't in. Shouldn't lose sleep over it. It's not like he was a shoe-in - he was just a good choice for the final third party representative.

Well, I realize Megaman isn't a shoe-in (though he should be), but if he was confirmed to not be in the game, we would have to endure the haters that would come in flame us and their "I told you so" attiudes. Also knowing that we spent more than a year and half supporting a lost cause wouldn't exactly be a nice thought. I don't want to go through the torment the Little Mac, Lyn, Goroh etc supporters suffered. Then there's the feeling that Nintendo doesn't recognize Megaman's contributions to their company and that the Blue Bomber just isn't worth Big N's time.

Yes, I'll eventually get over it, but it would be such a missed opportunity. I don't know about anyone else, but SSBB just wouldn't feel complete to me without Megaman. Wouldn't Mario vs. Snake vs. Sonic vs. Megaman feel much better than Mario vs. Sonic vs. Snake? If this is Sakurai's last game, he might as well go through the effort of ending his involvement in Smash with the incredible BANG that would be gaming's greatest heroes teaming up to Brawl. And with that said, what would a game starring gaming's greatest heroes be without Megaman? Sure it would still great game without MM, but with MM it would that much better.

Megaman has been as faithful to Nintendo as any other third party character and if Nintendo came to Sega for Sonic, then why wouldn't they come to Capcom for Megaman?

I think one thing that'll hurt his chances is that Capcom's "friendliness" with Nintendo has decreased, what with them ignoring the DS for several years and focusing development to the PSP even though many of the games they released for it failed (Mega Man Powered Up, Ultimate G&G). Even now, Capcom's DS support isn't very good, regardless of the fact that they're the market leader in gaming period all over the world.

I think Mega Man's been even more faithful than most other 3rd parties... most Mega Man games have been for Nintendo systems. All of BN and the Zero series were Nintendo exclusive, as is Star Force... And the classic series were some of the best NES games EVER.

Too bad that X was (mostly, so I've heard) PS/PS2 only...

Well, you also have to consider how much Mega Man departed from Nintendo during the 32/64 bit era.

N64:

Mega Man 64

PSX:

Mega Man 8
Mega Man X4
Mega Man X5
Mega Man X6
Mega Man Legends
Mega Man Legends 2

GBC:

Mega Man Xtreme
Mega Man Xtreme 2

Saturn:

Mega Man X3
Mega Man X4
Mega Man 8

Roughly, this generation only gave Nintendo gamers remakes and ports, while Sony got the sequels to both Mega Man franchises - Hell, at least Saturn got great remakes/ports.

Next gen gave us...

GCN:

Mega Man Anniversary Collection
Mega Man X Collection
Mega Man X: Command Mission
Mega Man Network Transmission

PS2:

Mega Man Anniversary Collection
Mega Man X Collection
Mega Man X: Command Mission
Mega Man X7
Mega Man X8
Mega Man Power Battle Fighters

Xbox:

Mega Man Anniversary Collection
Mega Man X Collection

GBA:

Mega Man & Bass
Mega Man Battle Chip Challenge
Mega Man Battle Network
Mega Man Battle Network 2
Mega Man Battle Network 3
Mega Man Battle Network 4
Mega Man Battle Network 5
Mega Man Battle Network 6
Mega Man Zero
Mega Man Zero 2
Mega Man Zero 3
Mega Man Zero 4

GBA definitely got a lot of Mega Love, but only because there wasn't a better place to put it.

And this gen:

So far, we've only got MM games on DS and PSP.

PSP:

Mega Man Powered Up
Mega Man: Maverick Hunter X
Mega Man Legends
Mega Man Legends 2

DS:

Mega Man ZX
Mega Man ZX: Advent
Mega Man: Star Force
Mega Man: Star Force 2
Mega Man Battle Network 5: Double Team

Now, it looks like the DS got much better support, until you consider that Inafune was actually going to remake the first six Mega Mans and who knows how many Mega Man Xes for the PSP, until both failed miserably. However, that did nothing to increase MM support for the DS to the levels that they were going to give PSP.

But besides Mega Man, look at how bad Capcom has treated Nintendo. Remember the Capcom Five?

Let's see...

Viewtiful Joe - Ported
Killer7 - Ported
Resident Evil 4 - Ported
Dead Phoenix - Cancelled
P.N. 03 - Exclusive (but not a good one)

Nintendo doesn't get RE5, Dead Rising, none of that. The only big games they've gotten are Zack & Wiki (which is not actually that big), RE4 (port), and RE:UC (spin-off). Really, Capcom hasn't done much to buddy up to Nintendo.

OK, Capcom as a company hasn't been that loyal to Nintendo, but Megaman has, epecially the classic Megaman. Most of the playstation exclusive MM games are of the X and Legends series, where as MM1-7 were Nintendo exclusives until Anniversary Collection as well as the MMI-V for the gameboy. The classic series for the most part, is Nintendo dominant. Remaking MM1 and MMX1 for the PSP wasn't the most loyal of moves to nintendo, but those games are remakes themselves. Capcom is producing non-remake MMs this generation for Nintendo such as ZX and SF. Even if MM hasn't contributed much to Nintendo in the past decade or so, overall it's still as much or more than Sonic and Snake have done.

I just heard the news...sounds like Rock's creator REALLY wants him in Brawl.

Yeah. Download it, he says MM isn't in.
We've already been through that. Though, finally hearing it for myself I can say that I'm not worried because that's what the translator says and he could be off. I distinctly heard a chuckle from Inafune that could imply teasing or a bit of sarcasm.

Sonic has been pretty loyal to Nintendo - while Sammy tried to give PS2 and Xbox some preference with Sonic Mega Collection Plus and Super Monkey Ball 1 + 2 (which never came to GameCube as a collection, even though it had 50 new levels), but GameCube, GBA, DS, and Wii have gotten tons of games, even if they didn't get the new Sonic game for PS3 and 360 (but really, who wants it on their system anyway?).

Eh, I believe nothing until it happens. Screw you people and your pessimism.
qft. I still wont believe anything until megaman is downright deconfirmed.

and even if he is downright deconfirmed, I still wont lose faith until brawl is released. they still have some time to go until release, so they can add MM at the last minute, especially with rumors of SSBB being delayed again.

Get the Panda?!

I'll admit, it looks very grim right now, but it's not over until Sakurai sings. Also, I'm having a bit of trouble playing the full 13 minute verison so...errr :urg:

But until...

1. Sakurai says Megaman isn't in on the DOJO.
2. Sakurai says Megaman isn't in Brawl in an Interview.
3. Megaman isn't there when the complete roster is discovered.

I won't give up supporting the Blue Bomber.

I'll be semi-"dead" for a while after Fe
SPanda would just faint after hearing the words. We'll never know! o_O

naw, I don't think we can gather any "positives" from this answer. The translation is obviously misleading, but at this point, if they haven't actually contacted him (or Capcom) then he's probably out because of the time factor. What ev, I'm still positive :)

SamruaiPanda. We should have someone verify the translation (and, if anything's wrong, fix it) before we jump to conclusions.
I know Samurai Panda could verify the translation, but could he filter out Inafune's words that are almost completely blocked out by the translator's? But yeah, let's not jump to conclusions just yet.

Edit: Gonintendo makes it sound as if it's truly over, just look at the reader responses. :(

Ok guys seriously, this interview could have been done a long time ago, maybe around the time bionic commando was revealed, and that was a while ago, even so, without a deconfirmation from sakurai megamans chances are still good, besides remember when they interviewed him on the 20th anniversary convention? he said no comments, and that was, I believe, after the whole bionic commando game trailer...

wait guys, think about it, it says that the game wont come out IN A FEW MONTHS, in the podcast, when really, SSBB is coming out in ONE month in japan, so this interview COULD be somewhat old...

Actually, it was put up just last Wednesday. And with verification impossible, I think we have a new Controversy Champion.

Yeah, but remember that the roster was probably finalized by the time E3 07 and Reggie's words showed up. Oldness wouldn't matter then.
However, even then there's that "Brawl was delayed for Megaman" rumor. Let's say that the podcast was really made back then, then there's a chance that Brawl was delayed in October because Nintendo could have just contacted Capcom sometime after the podcast.

Edit: I CANT BELIEVE THIS!!! He's already in the Brawl Graveyard!
